ok i just got a new light, it produces alot of light, 150 watts, and it looks like it produces good light, its halogen, flood ight, from walmart, 10 bucks is it good for a first time grower? how far away, still 2 inches?
well its the only light there that looked good, and its not like theyll burn if i water them properly, and i cant go back...for specific reasons...just tell me how i can make this work, they didnt have T-5's or i would of been allover that, and my budget speaked for itself...
Those halogens put off much more heat than light. You'll have to keep it so far away to keep from burning the plant that it won't get enough light. I don't mean to be negative but that's how it is. You'd be much better with a flour. shop light. Seriously. On a tight budget the shop lights are best. (Edited by Wild Bill at 11:04 pm on Feb. 8, 2006)
It doesn't have anything to do with how often or how much you water. We can't tell you how to violate the laws of physics or biology. To get a plant close enough to a halogen to do any good light-wise would burn the plant. Simple no? Before you waste anymore $$, I suggest you read a grow book. Find out what works and what doesn't.
well...im sorry but...i dont know when i will be able to get a better light. and its only one, and its in a really dark place, with really cool air going threw all the time, from the outside
do you think it could be done, or should i just stick with the regular light bulbs...till i get some other lights
but for ten dollars why not get a shoplight and fluorescents for around 2 bucks extra from walmart? you don't read about poeple using halogens on here do you?
look chronic, you know what u need, if u can't spend $12 dollars on flous at walmart, your FUCKED. damn dude the suns free grow outside. i deleted the felt bad, but smartin up! i suggest the FAQ THE FAQ!!!!!(-reading all (Edited by Oxycotin at 1:01 am on Feb. 9, 2006) (Edited by Oxycotin at 1:02 am on Feb. 9, 2006)
Hey Dude. Besides which, halogen lights don't put out the the type of light spectrum that MJ needs to grow healthy & flower. .
Not only is halogen way too harsh a light it does not put off the correct spectrum to grow quality marijuana. Not really even close. Neither do regular house incandescent bulbs. total waste of time. you would be much better served with 1 $10 flourescent than with 20 $10 halogens.
you can buy a 2 pack of compact flos at walmart for about 12 bucks-the spectrum of light your plant receives from halogen is not correct -
WILD BILL ANSWERED YOUR QUESTION, DONT USE HALOGEN. AT LEAST GET A 7.99 SHOP LIGHT FIXTURE AND INSTALL SOME UV BULBS FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF ABOUT $15.00, LESS THAN A SACK OF MEXICAN. NOW GET THIS BITCH ROLLING CHRONIC!!
NEVER MIND YOUR OBVIOUSLY A DUMB **** IF YOUR GOING TO: NOT READ FAQS,ASK A BUNCH OF DUMB QUESTIONS AND THEN NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOUR TOLD. QUIT WASTING PEOPLES TIME. PUT THE HALOGEN AS CLOSE TO THE DEAD PLANTS AS YOU CAN THEN SEE IF YOU CAN SMOKE THEM??
Not knowing is one thing but ti dispute those here to help is the correct way to get better answers. listen if you like but those lights can grow some vegetation and no flowers i understand. ever see a photo of bud grown under hals? not me.. og had the hal photos not us.
I had a friend that tried the halogens a few years ago. He had the lamp in a cold attack about 2 feet away from the plants. In one day it killed them all (3). Turned them to green crispies. He He had two more seedlings that he tried to put under the light with the light back further. They just dropped over from lack of light. I'm just saying I've seen it before. Just passing the experience on.
well...i guess that ill have to make a trip to walmart...bad news though im grounded...i only went to walmart because i had a meet at 5:30 so i went to walmart with a friend and told him the light was for my closet lol. but im grounded so im gonna get to walmart, i guess ill have to find a different light instead of this halogen for now so i can keep this light alive until i get ahold of some fluorescents...any suggestions whats better than a halogen...
Take the light back to Walmart. Get the largest Flourescent bulb you can find and stick it 2 inches away. That'll be better.
