hey guys. i have a question. i bought 5 gal buckets to turn into hempy setups and i should be able to get the plants about 36-40" tall. i'm going to be starting out with primarily white widow clones. any idea about how long i should veg while still staying in my hight range? i can also do some LST if it gets too high but i am really trying for a successful grow and want the plants as big as a 6.5' celing can handle.

    its up to you

basically if you start with clones its really up to you...you can veggie them until you get about 1/2 your total heighth wanted then start to flower.....by that i mean if you want a 5 ft tall plant let it grow to be 2 1/2ft in veggin and then change over to flower.some folks go 8 weeks of vegging some go 3 weeks...others will add their two cents worth but i think this will be the general idea...hope this helps...peace

    I think I understand

yes you can completely grow a 40" tall plant in a 5 gal hempy bucket...! At least I hope so, cause i'm doing just that. honestly I have a LST very very VERY bushy girl that is sitting in only about 3 and a half gallons worth of perlite in the 5 gal bucket( i was lazy and stupid not to fill her to the top...so regretting it) and it has shown no signs of being root bound nor falling over...just make sure you get your stem thicker than a quarter coin....not too hard for a big plant...mine is about 2 quarter coins thick at the base.

    hempy

I would like to try the hempy method with my next grow. Seems most I have seen do it use smaller containers to conserve space and the hempy medium allows for that as well as good plant size. It appears to be a better growing medium when the proper nutes are used than dirt. That being said, I have a 12 wk old plant, 4 in flower, in a 5 gal bucket with mg soil that just hit 36" and showing no sign of slowing down. hopefully it will soon or i will be out of space. Point being, 40" should be no problem for a sativa. 0.02 worth
