hi i'm new and need a littel help.

Ok i'm new here,so hi. i'm have read so growing guides so i know a littel all ready. I'm plan on an growing room 3ft 7in tall, 1ft 4in wide, 1ft 7in long. i whould like to know what the best size light and fan. i'm thinking about a PC fan, how wolud you hook the fan up. i'm thinking i will have three PC fans two on the top and one in the box right above the pots. and for intake vants 2-4 pvc pipes in the bottom.the right angel ones. also how many plants could i have in there. (sorry if i'm repeating one.) the reason it going to be so small is because i can't. i may have a area close off for colonies. Is it ok if i use a 2 liter cola bottle as a pot. please help me.

I'd recommend compact fluorescents or a 250w HPS. Definitely recommend the HPS for flowering at least.

He means like the kind you plug in your wall i believe, cut off the connector end for the phone and hard wire it to the fan and just plug it in and wa la. i guess easier said than done though! as for the light man i would recomend checking ebay for the light i bought another HPS off some company from indiana. they still had a bunch for sell to and for $90 buy it now with $20 shipping, and that for a 400W system with 1-yr warranty. the also had 250W system but they are only like $5 cheaper! I've tried using fluros and you just have to get a bunch of them to get the job done right and its just smart to go with the HPS since you will be getting a much greater lumens/watt ratio then you will with the flouros. HPS much much better at least for what i've seen. I used 3 4' 80watt fixtures(approx. 18,ooo lumens), 5 42 watt compact fluoros(probably 15,ooo lumens) those add up to 450 watts of power and cost me about $85 or so. Then the 400W HPS(54,000 lumens) and cost me about $20 bucks more, i would have spent more and wasted more electricity just to get the lumen output from the flouros. I guess i can just use the flouros for cloning and veg.

 

Wiring that fan to a cellphone charger is easy. white to white, black to black... use wire nuts to connect them.


400 watts will generate way too much heat for your grow space. You've only got 1.5' x 1.5' roughly. 400w is an overkill for that tiny space. 250w or smaller. You'll cook your plants.


Some people (not me) claim that HPS will stretch your plants during vegetative growth. But everything I've grown and everything I've read says that the stretching is very minimal. You could get a 250w> metal halide as an alternative. Great for vegging, and some folks say better than HPS during flowering. I'm going to test that theory soon.

 

From what i know about electronics, you may not want to use a cell phone charger. The problem with it, is that the little box part at the end is a transformer of sorts that can change the current. Honestly what i think the easiest thing to use is any old 2 prong plug. Cut the wire and strip both sides. As long as you complete the circuit it doesn't matter which way you hook it up(Black,White, Red, etc.) Be sure to use caps on the connection and leave no wire exposed. I've wired many a light like this.

 

He's asking about the pc fan though, not a lamp...the pc fan is 12v, not 120v, so it needs the xformer..

i hate all the other stuff they put up that has nothing to do with what i'm seaching for. thx for how much it goin to cost 30-90 for all three fans. do you tihnk i could just do with one fan on top.need to know how to wire them together if you have a site post it please.

 

well if your going to have to buy the phone charger you might just want to compare prices to the chargers you find and wall adapter like one for a answering machine that has a standard 120V AC input with a 12Vdc output. also check the out put on the phone chargers cause i know mine for my phone is only a 5.4V output. as for the HPS sorry i should have looked at your grow area before even mentioning that sorry.if you or any one else thinks that 250W will have issues with that area you could always use a 175W MH using a 175W mercury vapor area(security) light, the kind of light that you put on a shed or pole or something. anyway the ballast is the same just by the fixture they are $23 at walmart, lowes, homedepot, then buy you the MH bulb tape up the light sensor so the light stays on when its pluged in and just hard wire it to a heavy duty extension cord and cover the loose wiring. i'll see if i can find that how to for on that conversion.

i would like too know how to get the male's pollen. and about the security lights can i get them at any hardware store.

 

as for the light you can pick those made by regent up at any homedepot or lowes, lowes is cheaper, or one made by brinks at walmart. as for the pollen some people grow them in different areas just to avoid introducing too much pollen and just bring a female in, some do the bag over the nodes to catch pollen then tie it over a branch, some use paintbrushes so just really whatever you want to do, you can probably do a little searching around.

a lot of people say that males are simply trash and personally i'm not sure, i've seen a few threads were a guy just let his males mature out doors cured them and said he got some hash out of the plant, but i'm not suer if that true or not cause from the reading i've done all i've actually heard is that the females produce THC to attract pollen so that its genes can be passed on, a survivor trait if you will, so the longer the female goes without pollenation the more THC it builds up until it reaches its peak causeing the formation of trichromes. Personally i'm not positive i tried to cure and smoke some of my male plants before and i got a little buzz but i think that is mostly due to the fact that the pipe was full of resin. oh and if you do go with that light make sure you tape up the light sensor other wise it will turn it self off because of all the light in the room exspecially if you use mylar knew a guy how used that light and cause of the reflections of the mylar the light would think its day time and shut off.
