I've worked all the kinks out of my portable growbox (updating pics soon), When I was all finished with adding on to my box I stepped back and looked at it not because I was admireing a job well done, but because I looked at the hight of my plants(6-8in approx 1mo old) then looked at the total of 3ft 2in of growing space I had left after making the enclouser to control the heat from my HPS. I want to keep the plants as short as possible or no more than 3 ft tall, I was browsing some pics of ppls plants and some were fucking huge, im going for Quality over Quantity as this bud is for me and a few LUCKY friends smoking pleasure only, so even if I yeld alittle more than an OZ per plant I wont be upsett. I know its prefrence whether ppl want there plants to get Tall or stay short and fat, I did however read on overgrow (RIP) that shorter plants use less energy to get nutes to the top of the plant resulting in more potent bud, as opposed to a plant thats 6ft tall which will use more energy and wont produce (top quality buds). So what can i do? light cycles, ferts, ect... to keep these suckers from becoming the Hulk and over taking the space in the box?

My box is 4 ft high and should be much bigger, especially under HPS lights which throw off a lot of heat! I will probably have to change things to make it taller. Not trying to rain on your parade, just that IMO you are going to discover you need more height unless you do some serious low-stress training on your plants.

    Good luck with your grow.

Well thats why i made the enclouser with fan cooling, the basement is also always around 67-65 degrees , The cooling fan is 92mm that does about 30cfm's exhaust is 80mm and does about the same. I do have 40w of flourescent lighting that is mounted up and down on each side of the box, maybe instead of a night cycle Ill give the HPS a break and use the flour's instread of a dark period so they train outwards instead of upwards. Then maybe if they get into the routine of not having a dark period, when its time for a dark period maybe they will adapt to growing out.

I think that if you keep the door closed on the box you'll notice the change in temperature with an HPS in such a small area. I leave my closet door open with 2 fans, and have problems keeping the temperature under 84 degrees.

I've got a 400w HPS in a box 3 foot wide, 2½ feet deep and 2½ feet high. Sure more height would be good, but its not necessary :DAt the moment i am experimenting with totally overgrowing the box.....not really, i just had to leave them alone for 2 weeks and they have gone all wild on me.

I would flower them maguillacuttys now. Remember they will grow a couple of feet if not more once you induce flowering. :)
