i went outside and asked da guy what tybe was it he told me a HPs,, so is a 120w good enough for one plant? would alumiun foil work good to reflect the light inside da box??? if i put shades instead of havin da whole box close would it still grow good?

OK dom, a 120W HPS, if that's what it is, should be OK for one plant, but don't expect spectacular buds. The coverage of that wattage is minimal. Light intensity decreases exponentially  with distance. A 400W HPS will only provide adequate lumens at about 2 vertical feet of heighth or less. Whereas at one foot it's more than adequate.

Aluminum is NO GOOD at all. Use flat white paint or mylar for maximum reflection.

BTW, dom. I've tried to answer your questions, but it appears to me that you have some work to do. Please read a couple of online grow guides cover to cover if you REALLY want to grow good pot. Tehn we can 'fill-in-the-cracks' as yo progress.

    Good Luck! :ebert:

No!! aluminum foil creates hot spots and is on the low end of the light reflection scale. Use mylar or flat white paint. You need to have your grow area completely light proof. 100% light proof for flowering. no ifs, ands or buts about that.

120w is enough to grow a plant, but It really depends on the intensity of light whether you produce much bud or not. I assume since you say it's an hps bulb that it has a ballast and some sort of reflector hood right? an HPS light doesn't just screw into a regular light socket.

because its no good if it is, and u might as well take it back.

The expensive of mylar compared to the cheapness of white paint for one plant, well use the white paint.

Forget the hps at this early stage, look at my garden link below and check out the early stages and the results i got with fluros. For a beginner, taking heat out of the equation will make it easier, and give you a better understanding on how things work.

Theres nothing better then first hand information [IMG]

Jerky is spot on, you have to look at the big picture, without selective hearing [IMG]

    Good luck!
