    Hey guys.

I made a thread earlier about looking for pots. Well, I'm back. Redesign = new specs required.

I'm looking for smaller individual pots, preferably about 1 gallon. #1 trade size is okay too.

They need to have a high lip and VERY solid construction, since I'd like to try hanging them from the lips. I can drill a couple holes if I need to, but I'd prefer to get plug and play planters if I can.

Anyone know of anything they've used in the past that fits that criteria?

    Thanks guys!

I know you asked for plug -n- play but have you considered using smart pots with handles? They're very strong but also flexible and may fit the bill for a set up similar to the one in the HD link you posted. As long as you support the pots from both handles I don't think you'd have any issues with strength at all. In fact the fact that they're collapsible may be helpful if you going to hang them on the wall.

Also check out HD / Lowes for 1/2 pots that are intended to be mounted to a flat surface.

good hunting & keep us posted.

    cheers

I forgot they made smart pots with handles.

That's a really nifty idea but would take a lot of extra working. I was hoping for some pots I could paint white or wrap in mylar. At the moment I haven't worked any sort of light screen in for the pots, and I'm worried the black or gray bags would just soak up heat from all the direct light they'll be getting before the canopy fills in. I'd also be worried with non-rigid pots that if I were to move around or jostle fabric pots that were hanging unevenly rather than sitting on the ground it'd break up the root mass, which I straight up cannot afford to be doing.

I know botanicare makes sturdy white pots in the right size already, but they're like $2 a pop...

That's a good point about damaging the root mass. What I've found is after a couple of weeks the roots are dense enough that the pots at least feel very solid.
