hey guys I did this yesterday as I saw it on another site (dont know if anyone here has done it or not but I thought I would post )

what I did was boxed both my fans one is a 4 inch 170cfm growbrite inline fan thats the intake the second is a Sunleaves windtunnel 6in 409cfm for my exhaust going into a 4inx12inch budget CF

what I did first was put connectors on the fan and then stuck it in a box and cut out holes in the box so the connectors would stick out

then I wrapped up the body of the fan with a plastic trashbag and some tap to make sure it didnt come off the fan

then stick the fan back in the box with the ends on it sticking out the sides of the box

now close the box and tape it up ( i left my box open so I could show what the foam looks like"

then cut small holes at each corner of the box and fill the box with " great stuff" expanding foam

the trash bag wrapped around the fan keep the fan safe from the foam incase you ever need to take the fan back out FILE0675.JPG

looks like a fire trap to me

i maybe way off but it looks dangerous to me...electrical connection around all that flammable stuff....others may have more experience that i do....i just use bungie cords to keep fans quiet...along with a controller....

    good luck

well I don't think its at much risk for catching fire, but Great stuff also makes fire block foam, guess you could use that if you wanted, however it does make the fans way quieter My setup is in my room in a grow tent so being quiet is really important to me.

A number of people on another site have been doing this, the thread I got it from was started in 08, so Im no where near the first to do it, and none of those people reported anything negative to the effects of fire.

That's a good idea. I may try that when I need to go in my attic again.
