i just plant 2 of my seeds in miracle grow soil or whatever, will this affect their growth, and will i have to put in as much nutrients as needed?

I wouldn't use the pre-fertilized soil.  Just regular.  The seedlings don't need any feeding at first.  It's always best for you to control the feeding, etc. yourself.  I put the seedlings in jiffy pots filled with jiffy mix.  Then bury the jiffy pot in the permanent pot which is filled with a mixture of general purpose potting soil that I've mixed with sand.  Here's a pic of my method. Also, I only put one seed in each pot. This eliminates any need for transplanting later.

i know...but this is the only potting soil i have, and i had three germinated seeds, im just asking, will they survive with at least some good yield, this is my first grow, and the lights arent strong, i only have 3 40 watt lights going right now, and one germinated yesturday morning, two germinated this morning, i just put them in the soil 2 hours ago...they are on my attic stairs right now...with white garbage bags under neath them, because of the fiberglass( no boards on the floor, and thats why they are on the stairs and not by a window...)i left the sides open, and no heat are going to the seeds, but im gonna put these light that produce heat and a little light?[IMG]

I don't know how they'll do in the MG soil.  I've never used it.  I just like control of the feeding myself.  If you use hps lighting the heat from the light will be fairly good.  I don't know how cold it is in your attic.

it is fairly cold on the stairs, and i dont know if i should put heated lights in there or not...and a couple of 60 watts for extra light and heat...

HEY DUDE! my first grow i had 3 plants in mg potting mix that feeds up to 3 months it was BAD ASS!! UNTILL it came time to leech the soil and give only ph balanced h2o for a flush. wait how do you get the fert out of the soil? Tastes like DOGSHIT but grows like crazy (faster than my hydros).I also think the fert mixture in the soil wouldnt let the buds ripen. i might be wrong but i think that to much nitrogen wont allow the buds to ripen.

someone feel free to correct me if im wrong

dude! your gonna have to go to wally world and at least spend 7.99 on a flourescent. but if your handy at all you can go to home depot and buy a 100w hps (high pressure sodium)security light that comes with bulb, reflector & everything you need to install it for only $69.99 this would be ideal for low budget grow. your not going to get any results with a reg light bulb. All of the plants in this picture are in prefertilized Miracle Grow.

These are in the same soil. (Picture before I learned foil is bad.)

Not long after these pictures my plants begin to droop pretty bad. I repotted them and flushed them pretty heavily to get the MG nutes out of the soil as much as possible. I have since learned that the time release nutes in MG are bad for the plant overall. Just get some Scotts regular from Home Depot. Be careful because Scotts makes a time release fert soil and a regular soil. Get you a little sand or perlite to mix in. You can get all you need at Home Depot for less than $15.

You need a bigger light even if all you do is go to walmart and get the largest Flourescent you can fit in your fixture. I would recommend dropping some money on a nice size HPS http://search.ebay.com/hps-light_W0QQfromZR40
Ebay has a lot to choose from. Otherwise go to Lowes or Home Depot and look for the biggest flourescent bulb you can find ($25?) and find a ballast for it. Look in outdoor lights and workshop lights to find one that may include a big flourescent.

I've spent $300 on this first grow including a 400W HPS and ballast, 1000w(like) Flourescent shop light, $40 on Fox Farms ferts which I highly recommend

Then various amounts of money on soil, pots, distilled water, early fertilizers that I never used because they weren't good for the plants, a timer for 12/12(which recently died.)

I think $300 is the low end of what you need if you don't have lighting around and other materials.
I'm hoping to get that back with the first harvest(not in sells but money I won't spend!)

3 to 4 weeks from harvest!

I don't know if this helps at all. I might have got carried away because I'm high as a goddamned kite.

Go to your nearest store and just by one of these

You can find one like this at almost any store for about $5. Stick it right on top of the plants about 2" away. They might make it. Marijuana has grown over worst conditions.

Defintely not the best light to use, but it may well do for vegging.

would the plants survive under the lights i have on them for 24 hours each day?

i can install more lights for fluorescents...

can i grow the plants in the miracle grow for like 3-5 weeks and then transplant?

  16. halfbreed420

    halfbreed420 Begun Flowering

That's pretty much what I did Chronic. My plants were in the MG for at least 4 to 5 weeks. Just make sure to use only water for feeding right now, and make sure that water is clean. (If you're using tap water make sure it's left out, open for 24 hours so the Chlorine will evaporate out.) Be very careful about overwatering, maybe twice a week? The reason I'm giving you this is that it sounds like you started a lot like me and those were the things I needed to focus on.

I know people that have grown through window light, so you may be ok with your current light. If you can get that cheap flour. it will be better and if you can get a bigger flour. or HPS you can use that one over and over.

Anything can happen. Stick around here and we'll help you get through.

    Good luck!
