I have one bud from a plant i harvested that had some thick white spider web lookin shit in it. is that the mold i hear about forming in buds? it's only in one of the bigger buds.:BangHead: its kinda hard to see
I looked at the bigger pics in your gallery and they are too blurry to make out any details, but if you had white fuzzy or web like stuff in your buds it's probably mold.
Looks like mold (powdery mildew). pull all infected areas and raise humidity if u can. Increase air flow will help. peace G_B
man it happened during the drying process. it dried for a week in a small cab in the flower room, I put it in a jar and when i checked about 10 hours later everything was damp again and that one bud had that "cotton" looking shit in it. its not powdery though its more like a cotton ball grew in the middle of it
I missunderstood. you were drying it, ok I see. They dry from the outside. the inside must have been wet. You should wait until the stem is dry before putting it in jars. To test the stem for dryness, bend it and listen for a crack sound. (If you dont here a crack, then it is probably still too moist inside.) Then it can be put in jars to finish the cure. Humidity should be over 60% when drying. sorry about the loss. peace G_B
I've had that exact same thing happen to me while curing in Mason jars. The buds weren't dry enough and that exact same cotton-ball shit appeared. I got the affected buds out of there and salvaged what I could, then I took all the other buds out of the jar and put them back in my drying closet. For the most part they were fine, but that kind of bud mold can form overnight. The incident I'm talking about...that shit formed overnight! If I wasn't venting and checking the jarred, curing buds every day, it would have ransacked the whole jar of buds. I swear to you, one of the first things that gave it away was when I took off the jar lid to let the buds vent, I noticed the smell was "off". I used to work produce in a grocery store through high school and some of college. I can still recognize the smell of vegetation decomposition. From the pics you posted, it looks to me like there's no turning back for those buds. I also recognized that white spider-web looking mold from when I lived in El Paso on the Mexico border and bought super-compressed QPs of commercial Mexican brick weed. It got compressed while it was still wet.
yup, it was totally my fault,... wishfull thinking, and being out of smoke is what caused it. I cut this bud up and left the cotton shit on the tray and smoked the parts that did not have it, it tasted ok and got me stoned. then my son came by (he is 22) about 3 hours later and told me how good that smoke was on the back porch that was on my tray. I asked him if it was harsh and tasted funny he said no, so I told him what it was:5eek:we went out and smoked the rest of it asssit: hey I have paid for $25 a g dro that was not this good
i had the same shit on my bud...but the brick cat shit i buy...use 1/4 cup h2o2 to 5 gal water and soak buds in there for 3-5min, then rinse with h2o, dry...mold gone...solved my problems...thanks to jorge cervantes lol
definatly looks like mold, last year outdoor was very wet and It molded while still growing, Ive also had it inside a couple times. I use the stem snap method also, as soon as the stem snaps then there ready for jars otherwise all the moisture in the stem goes to the bud and makes it wet again.
Ofo, no spider mites, i'm in a barn so i'm constantly checkin for bugs and all. O.k next go round is crackin stems. I did that once and it seemed like it just seemed a little dry and cruchy still after jarring for a week.
I know what you mean. If wait too long for a hard crack, it can get a little dry, but if a jar cure is done at first sign of the stems cracking in the buds it will help. In time I started to notice the difference between a dry crack and a moist crack. I hope this helps. Anyway, I think this is better than worring about mold. (mixing dry with moist will balance it. Iv'e heard of using an orange peal.) I will be watching to see how it works for you. How long do you think it will be before your next round? peace G_B
I got 1 more week till the next plant is ready to cut. i guess its probly about 10 to 14 days or more till the stems are that dry, average humidity is about 65-75 percent all the time. until i get my rooms sealed completly i can't do much about that.
DAMN, I got the cotton again on the biggest bud, this time the plant was still growing. I noticed it about 7 days into the flush, i let go for 2 more days for the sake of the rest of the plant. I just harvested it this morning I'm gonna do the h2o2 and water trick. This was the last plant for a month or so, I'm gonna remodel the set up completely. I have pallets laid down with plywood on them for a floor, the walls are only closed on the outside with plywood(and not sealed very good mice are getting in) and the cieling is plywood over 2x4's all the plywood joints have gaps. but if there is not enough ventilation now, it seems like i'm gonna really have mold issues after i rebuild and it's sealed:icon_confused:
EDIT : GIZMO Am i missing something here, why would you want high humidity when your drying you buds would you want a lower humidity to prevent the molds from forming ?Also when flowering, dont they always say to lower the humidity? or is this so the buds dry in a slower manner? My tent right now in flower is 40-50% and 60% when i water
any got an input? im chopping my ladies down next friday and this intrigues me id like to know if i can turn off the Dehumidifier or leave it on and let it suck the moisture out
