As you all know, that keep up with me. I had to start from scratch again. I have some White Rhino, Ice, Bubblicious, and 3 random Mandala strains going. I have 17 plants, only 6 have shown DEFINITE preflowers to be female. They were just transplanted into 5 gallon Homer buckets. When pulled, they were root bound and drinking the entire 2.5qt pots from soaking wet to bone dry in 20 hours. I will pollinate a branch of each female with pollen from my best two males. Right now, the females are all ~16" tall with node spacing about the distance of a pinky knuckle. THey're pretty damn old. They're under the 150,000 lumen 1000w HPS, still vegging. They've all been topped, and will have clones taken from them, to insure a branch count of 5-9 per plant, so it's just cola's all the same distance from the light. I'm just REALLY shooting for 2oz. per plant. I'll make sure to get my camera from my moma's house in the next few days, so the next time I get to my babies, I can take photos. I hope these females are geneticlly strong enough to produce what I want. I'm about to start using Advance Nutrients on them. I'm in NO hurry to flower, because space is of NO issue whatsoever. I want big yields. I just want some encouragement guys. I've never used a bucket larger than 3 gal. I know 5 gal homers have to help what's possible. Like I said, I topped at 16", and still plan on vegging two more weeks at minimal. I am pinching the branches as well. Now for some questions. 1) The buckets are so fucking big, just four of them fill up alot of space, 6 do alot more. I want to know is 24" to far away from the top of the plants? I can't put it to close or the outter plants don't get the same intensity. What's the perfect distance, considering a 2x3 setup of 5gal homer buckets using a 1000w HPS? Yes it's ventilated. P.S. I have 4 150w equivalent 5200K CFL's that I'm about to rig to the timer as well, and clip them on the pots themselves. So they'll be pointing up at about 45 degrees, to ensure the bottom gets plenty of light too. i think they're 2200 lumens a pop. If I don't get a superb specimen from this round, I damn sure will with the seeds I get from crossing my best female/males.
according to my HydroFarm instruction booklet, a 1000w lamp recommended 8'x8' area coverage and is recommended 2-6ft from the tops of plants. That's all I have to go on, hope it helps.
Well, okeydoke. Me, I dont really get the point of growing huge plants in huge buckets, but that's just me. I use ONE gal plastic food storage containers that are tall, but narrow. )hempy) I can get12 under my 600 HPS. Of 12,3 or 4 will be males. That leaves room for the rest to get plenty of light. I veg until the plants are a foot or so tall, then go to 12/12. Most strains double in height during flowering. I prefer single or double cola, for saving space and making a couple of beer can size buds instead of a bunch of smaller ones. I average about 11/2 oz, dry, per plant, which is good enuff for me. With plants that big, you should have no prob getting two oz per. Hang in there and post some pics! Good on ya! Dixie
Ok, I used 5 gallon buckets for some hempy plants I grew. I used a 1000 watt HPS w/vented reflector. I am in a 4'X6' space and I kept the light between 18"-24" from the tops. This gave me the light spread I needed. I just move the plants around every few days to allow the most even light coverage. (A light mover is what i want next) I vegged my biggest plant for about 4 weeks while topping and doing some extensive LST. I yielded 4 ounces off of one plant done in this fashion. You should have no problems getting 2 ounces if your topping and tying. I get 2 ounces off of each of my soil plants grown in 3 gal pots, with no LST and minimal topping. Personally I prefer to grow many smaller plants but to each his own. A monster plant is a beautiful sight to behold and a lot of fun to grow. In my experience though I get a lot more yield per square foot when I grow more plants but keep them smaller and packed closer together. I increased my yield by almost 25% by changing my method to smaller plants. I am still experimenting with increasing my yield through this method. Now instead of trying to get one plant to produce 4 ounces I am trying to fit 4 plants into the same space that one big plant took and get 2 ounces off of each one effectively doubling my yields. I am trying to get to where I'm producing at least .75 grams/watt of light used in my area. right now I'm getting about .5 grams per watt. I'll be watching to see your monsters grow. I love a big plant. It's definitely the most fun way to grow an MJ plant. I'm confident that as long as your genetics are decent, you will get more than the 2 ounces your looking for. Happy growing my friend! :thumbs-up: :bong-2:
2 ov per plant ? how many do you have i average between 2.5 lbs per light to 3lbs on the last run. there was 15 in the room i gave 3 to one of my patience he said he got 8 oz total buds and out of the 12 left i got 5.59 lbs off 2 1,000s . i found that a longer veg time and bigger plants along with supercropping i get bigger yields i feel the extra 4 weeks is worth the almost double yield but bact to you get on it and happy gardening oh and its been sooo wet th fungus gnats ate my cucumbers and pepers out of the ground this year
Last run I had 3 plants that I let veg for a while. IIRC they had 8 or 9 weeks veg time from clone. I avg'ed like 6 1/2oz dry from each of those 3 plants, and about 1/2 of that avg on the other plants I vegged for a month. I am in no rush, and am planning on giving the 8 plants I have no a 8-9 week veg and grow some TREES
