Can't get my soil quite right these days and he's another batch of kids with issues. This one here is about 3-4 days older than the others and I wanted to confirm what the specific nute defiency is and what I can do to beef up my soil to prevent this from occuring again. Thanks.
things id think of if it was me..... I aint no pro on GK but just thought id throw a few ideas in the air that could be causing your probs.... How old is your plant?I tend or try not to feed my plants anything except water till they look a bit healthier than what you have shown, defo dont use chemical nutes too early,if you must be impatient go for organics, most ppl will say that on here. Your plants might not have nute deficiencies.... im no expert but maybe your leaf has went that way due to light issues, are they too low or raised too high?Im just thinking out loud here this aint my ADVICE ya know? As for the mix....others on here will tell you the perfect mix,as for me i just use some real quality soil and perlite and thats me but i know trill puts a few things in his mix that i hadnt heard of b4...as i say im not long in the growing game, got a few grows under my belt,im still learning myself.Hope your babies pull through anyway.Peace
yeah dude i had some comming out of the shoot just like that baby. and like apprentice mentioned, i watered with some mild nutes a little early. and thats exactly what they looked like. the sun leaves burnt and drying and the same color and shape of the new growth. the ones i've laid off the nutes are doing just fine. so i've personally found nutes too soon are not good. peace, CG
guys, I should have been a bit more specific on the issue. I've got my lights exactly where they should be as far as height at this stage of the grow. The plants are moving into their 3rd week from seed. I have not used any ferts to this point except pure distilled water and have only watered sparingly these past fews weeks. In any event, my soil is straight from a construction site where they are digging in basements and there is some beautiful black gold (soil that is...texas T) that I'm using. I haven't added anything to the soil but am now facing that problem that I posted the pic about. Any other sugggestions? Much appreciated.
BRO .... thats a mulitiude of problems.....shitty soil being the key. deffinately a ph problem.... prolly all three n p and k. maybe even MG . whats the ph lookin like? u need to plant more seeds in better soil!
I color corrected your pic (hope you don't mind). Next to it I uploaded a picture of a plant with phosphorus deficiency that I got from this web site: http://www.drugs-forum.com/growfaq/951.htm When you compare these photos the damage looks similar. So, you may have a phosphorus deficiency. Just my observations. Hope it helps. /monthly_2006_11/ontheisland.jpg.137841b898ab850830fa45f820cea41f.jpg /monthly_2006_11/PhosDef.jpg.5d05cb3cac17a5dbf28c79d9e46cfec5.jpg
3 weeks???? dayum..those things should be mucho mucho taller!!!!! i think you need to check the pH and get back to us... then we'll go from there
thanks alienbait. I'm working on getting that ph on the 'morrow and bring that dirt back into the right.
no OTI...dont bring that dirt back into the right- u need fresh soil.....lotsa perlite, cow manure...mushroom compost vermeculite, perlite worm castings....that will get u in the right.
alien bait, its a ph problem first n formost- whick leads to the plant not assmiliating any nutes,- deffinately a lack of n p and k uptake..... but yes P is apart of the prob.....
TOA, You are probably right (usually are). Just so I understand (I can be slow at times), you are saying the P deficiency is just a symptom of a major PH problem which is "locking out" P (and everything else), yes?
well its not necessilarly locking out like a fert burn but.... if its a ph problem then most all nutes wouldnt get assmiliated properly. for the plant to look like that at 3 weeks theres a major ph problem. when it starts to drift, first it would start yellowing when it gets even higher or lower ....then purpling then blotching as shown happens. your deffinately right, it is a p diff too...but its brought on by the ph being off.
IMO, i'd have to go with trill on this. getting the soil right before planting seems to more practicle than trying to fix the problem afterwards. as small as that plant is, transplanting to a good environment would be less stressfull than dealing with the adjustments you're going to try to make, IMO. peace, CG
re-pot... yeah im with trill on this one,i never realised you were using soil from a source like that, you need some quality soil,i cant name brands cos im in the UK and our brands are different,if i was you id make up a proper mix(just like trill said...i told you trill uses some special ingrediants didnt i,lol,if you can GET the stuff trill mentioned then get it)if you cant get what trill mentioned then go buy some quality RE-POTTING soil from any garden centre and of course perlite and re-pot( give a real good watering then leave for a day or two)and try keep the soil moist but not too wet cos your roots aint that developed yet so they cant handle mountains of water.Good luck, follow the advice you have been given on here and ya will be awrite.Happy growing
