Hello organic farmers!. I want to go back to using soil for my moms.I currently have them in DWC, but they grow way too fast in there. By the timeready to take clones I have a huge bush. I was looking at the fox farm ocean forest soil. Can that be used right out of the bag as they claim? Would there be any problems using R/O water with organic nutes? Thanks . PEACE!
i add a bag of perlite and that's it. i use fox farm nutes with it and i have used meta nauturals with it and I have never had any problems. lots of times the plants can grow for WELL over a month before they have to be fed anything. i really like it beacuse of the simplicity and the consistency.
Organic farmers! Is that not what ya would want, to have your plants growing faster than usual???(in soil?) I would for definate! What would be the reason for wanting this change to take place and slow down the grow rate to your plants??? Iff they are already growing faster than usual, then surely thats what anybody would want, so they could get more n more clones on the go too, and not worry about how long the mother will bush out again, although they do bush out more n more every time you take a cutting anyway!!! Why change the method my friend??? (iff it works, why try n fix it?) Peace n Out, UrBigBuddie........... P.S, dnt know about the water you speak of as im only an ORGANICS man myself, but the Fox Farms Ocean forest Soil "can" be used rite out the bag it comes in!!!
Agree with everything Wawona stated.....we have always grown in soil, used to use Black Gold, but found the Fox Farm to be far better....we just add perlite, too! What kind of lighting do you have your Mother under? Maybe it's too well lit, and if you reduced the lighting a tiny bit, it would slow down the growth??? Not sure if this is good advice or not......could I get a ruling on that from a more experienced grower??!! I'm a newB grower myself, but knowing what we now know from using 3 different lighting sources the first few years, I DO know for certain that different lights give different results. For instance, we completely did our very first grow with all Floros....the Hubby made an awesome set-up with a wooden frame that was on a pulley system to raise & lower the lights, we also had lights mounted to two seperate wooden frame sets that were placed on the sides of the plants for extra lighting. We had excellent results & grew some astonishing weed.....however.....for our second grow we purchased a 400W switchable ballast system....and saw what a difference using HPS & MH lights could do! More healthy looking & lusher growth & denser, bigger buds!! We now have a 1000W HPS for flowering and we get even bigger, more dense buds!! We use the 400W for just the veg stage now & the 1000W for flowering, and Hubby re-built the Floros to use as side lighting along the walls for lower bud growth! I hope this info helps and is not too terribly wrong!!
I agree with the Ocean Forest, too. It's what I use and just for your info, I use it right out of the bag with nothing added and have had no problems.
The problem I have is that the 2 strains I currently grow have a long flowering preiod. One is 80 days the other is 110 days. By the time I'm ready to clone, my moms outgrow their space! ( a c-24 cabinet with a 175w MH). I could literally get 50 to 60 clones off each plant at the rate their growing now . Way too much for my needs. Also by the time they are that big , i have to top the rez daily with like 2 gallons of water.I figue soil with soil it will be easier to manage. Plus I want to try my bubblers in my flowering room. I could just imagine the yield with it. Thanks to all for the responses. I shall pick up some ocean forest soon. PEACE
