I've got 3x3 tables, before I built them, it was suggested to put 8 plants in them. I've got 4 white rhinos in each corner that are about 3 foot tall, these 4 plants take up a 4x4 area with the middle of the table completely filled with growth. In y'alls experience, how big should I be growing them to comfortably fill up the table with 8 plants? I put them into flower at about 12 inches. That's 6 inch cuttings vegged for a month. I could take smaller 3 inch cuttings vegged to 6 inches tall instead of trying to veg for a month, that should get 18 inch finished plants. How much can a plant that size produce? I'm wanting a lb per table so i would need each plant producing at least 2oz dry. that doesn't sound like to much to expect from a plant that size.
How do you arrange 8 plants in a squre table, it seems like you would have to do 4, 9, or 16. You would have a extra spot if there was 8?
Right, the plants are in the outer edges, the idea was to leave the middle of the table empty so you can get light down in there
I put 8 plants on a 2X4 table, in rows, and it might be too much. Gets awfully crowded in there unless I chut half the plant out at week 2 bloom. How high is you growth space? I let my ceiling height (and to some degree veg time) determine how tall I grow the plants, in that I grow them as big as I can without overgrowing the space too close to the light. But I think your doin vert bare bulbs right?
basic formula is 1 square foot per plant. at 3 foot you may one fit a few because I use thast formaila with clones/ cant type...yea 1 sqare foot a plant
Ah i see, makes sence. Sounds like you are on the right track, i am going to do the same as you, (flower at 1 foot). Any bigger and i would think you should only do 4 in a table and if you were to flower at 6" i would take the smaller clones and top them as soon as they go in the table but have 16 of them.
FF, with the bare bulbs I can grow 5 foot tall plants if I wanted but.... Nip, I have 1 foot between the plants side by side there is just soo many variables. if you prune it a bunch and have a lot of tops then you would end up with it growing out more than up, so a 1 foot plant would end up maybe 2 foot tall and 3 foot wide. I have put small 3-4 inch rooted clones not topped into flower and had minimal stretch, it was just a single cola that dried to an oz or so, that was master kush if I remember right. I've got the keeping them happy throughout the grow part down, now I need to fine tune the art of pruning and training to make the plant conform to the shape and size I want for that individual strain. This morning in the veg room I trimmed back one table with 4 white rhino's that looked like 20 inch tall bushes that were just as wide. I kept about 20 cuttings to make clones, but i'm curious to see how the plants react and re-shape themselves. on one plant, I cut every stem back to the bottom most nodes and the others I just pruned back to a manageable size. it's definitely a lot of learning, I thought the guitar took a long time :read2:
I know thats right, but the chicks love a pot growing guitar player!:not-worthy: I am curious why you are going with. 3x 3 table, is it for space wise? Or just for the blank spot in the middle for the light to get in between? is this your first table's to try? I def am going to tune in.
I put 4 plants in each 2x2 table and they get pretty tight. But a lot of the plant's growth is outward making the grow area more like 3x3. So seems like putting 9 in a 3x3 would cramp up the one in the very center. I would lean GIT's way on the arrangement. I'm thinking the additional growing area on the 8 would easily make up for the lack of a 9th. But 8 good healthy plants in that table would def be a pretty good haul for the sq footage. Be Cool, CG
GIT how long you vegging stuff and how often are you harvesting? If you veg longer, the plants get bigger. Theoretically so long as you have the space that means more bud.
3x3 was the size of the tables CC ran. He started with 9 per table and decided 8 was better. This is the 4th harvest with tables, I veg for a month till they are about 12 inches tall topped at least twice. my plants usually all end up 3 foot tall 18 to 24 inches wide. I got 2 tables set up in the flower room to harvest every month. I'm about to add bigger lights. I think I've out grown the 400's I use. That is 2 lights per table. I'm gonna replace them with 2 600's per table, I can grow good smoke with the current set up, but I haven't gotten those rock hard buds and I'm hoping bigger lights will cut the flower stretching to a minimum. I currently average about 2-3oz per plant, usually more on the 2oz side.
GiTX when you switch to the 600's your eyes are going to pop.:flipando: Watch how close you put your lights. Some variety's of MJ will light bleach the tops if they are to close. You will see a great improvement in bud development with the 600's :bravo:
I just posted harvest pics in my g.I.t. tables grow log. Mr G, it's got to be the improvement on my current set up that I need.
Oh god yes, night and day. I have 2 600's over 2X4 tables, and also 1000 watt tables too same size. The sixes don't bleach nearly a bad as the 1000 watters. But I can attest to what MGJ says because I'm currently doing just that! I bleached the hell outta two tables of dabney before I realized you can just cut the damn power back on the digital ballasts to stop it. Lesson is don't overgrow your space. Also something I'm learning is that if you don't run a fresh rinse through the tables every so often, you can get toxic salt buildup and roast a table. I'm learning the hard way all the wrong things to do. Also not keeping the ressy's topped off with fresh water is bad because the more the plants drink and the lower the ressy goes, the higher the ppms go and I've let it go pretty far. Bad practice. sorry stoned and thinkin. thread jack over.
Those new 600s will kick ass. I think we calculated a while back that the 600s were like almost 20% more efficient than the 400s. With the addition wattage and efficiency those next buds will be swelling up big time.:thumbs-up::thumbs-up: Be Cool, CG
I run only 600's. Much rather run two 600's than a single 1000w lamp. Just my preference, but the way I build gardens it's the most efficient HID and the most versatile when you have a few to use.
