180*F, there were seeds I want, can I still use them? I'm putting them in a cup of water so I guess I'll know soon. But, what's the word on heat and seeds?
Dunno... I've never burned up perfectly good bud like that! :icon_confused: Oh wait, it was seedy bud... that's trash anyway
seeds If you wanted the seeds why did you not remove some of them before you oven dried the buds?????? teamster6
could go either way seeds can take abuse that a plant never could i pulled a seed out of a burning bowl one time and it had visable charring on the outside and it sprouted
Im no expert on seeds, i grow exclusively from clones, but wouldnt seeds from a hermie (thats what i gather you have) produce more hermie seeds and unlikely to turn pure female?
After all that work...you should have pulled them first. I'm sure that I told you I keep mine in the freezer...so what would lead you to believe heat would be good? They may be ok, but I wouldn't get my hope's up.
Depends on how it got to be a hermie. If he treated it with chemicals to induce male flowers then no. The seeds will all be pure females.
yall are all assuming to damn much. I have plenty of viable seeds fellas. These were some of the seeds that I missed. All I really want to know is at what temperature/how long do they become no good? Stop with all the assumption. Maybe I should have worded my question better. Just so ya know, I pulled ~35 great looking ak-48 x Rx seeds. Then pulled ~200 pure Rx from the fully pollinated female Rx I did outside. After all the seeds were out of the Rx plant, it was just some trash left over, so I oven dried it to smoke some blunts. There were still some seeds in the bud. But still this is all irrelevant. edit: I read back over the entire thread again. I duno how I coulda said it beter. I guess this. "At what heat do seeds go bad?" How do you gather I have hermie seeds? Why would I "want" hermie seeds? I duno, something about this simple thread turned complicated. I honestly expected to see 1-2 replies, probably from skunky saying "seeds become useless @ ~X degrees" thanks anyway though. It's whatev's. I'm out, see ya.
Sounds like experimentation is in order and a shitload of viable seeds. I doubt seeds take long to heat through, 10 mins should do it. So maybe test with groups of 10 seeds at different temps for 10 mins and then germinate until the seeds don't germinate. Record how many germinate at what temps (and how long they take). Who knows, you might even discover that warming up the seeds IMPROVES germination.
I have SO many extra's, and am going to be pollinating again on a different female for Rx seeds this time around, I might do it, in groups of 5, make sure they're the best looking seeds. I'm thinking they can withstand 120*F for hours. I'm only saying that because there are places in the world that MJ grows naturally and gets upward of 110. I can see NO problem with drying at 100 F, hell it's gotten over that where I live. I didn't mean to get bitchy b.t.w. thx for even taking time out to read the post everyone.
Well, many pigeon racers (including myself) feed hemp seeds before a race, as they are very nutritios. The store can only sell them because they are heat treated, and therefor will never sprout. What temp must they reach to become inviable? I don't know. But I do know heat will kill the plant embryo once a certain point is reached and it's not hot enough to destroy the nutrition in the seed so it must not be extremely high.... Let us know if any sprout
