I know this has already been posted but I just got a question about the alternate method listed at the bottom here http://www.stretcher.com/stories/03/03mar24d.cfm It says asprin contains willow bark and if you let a few asprins sit in water over night it will have the same effect as letting willow pieces soak over night to use for a rooting hormone, Anyone here ever tried the asprin method??? And don't say I'm cheap, I just want to know if something like that would actually work
I make my own rooting hormone out of an aspirin, some willow twigs, corn starch, superthrive and water. It works GREAT! I use as many willow twigs as will fit in a toilet paper tube. Pound them flat with a hammer, and soak them in 2-3 cups of water for 12 hours. I mix the 2 cups of willow water with 1 tablespoon of corn starch and bring it to a boil, stirring constantly. As soon as the corn starch gels, remove it from the heat and cool to room temp. with the lid on. Add 1/2 teaspoon Superthrive and a crushed aspirin. Mix well and put it in a ziplock bag. Refrigerate until ready to use. The starch helps the hormone stick to the plant and gives the plant some sustenance while it roots. I have 90%+ success rate with my clones. Hope this helps...
hillbillies info sounds like it will work, but as for just plain asprin,i have never tried it but have heard lots of other people say it works too. dont waist a good clone, do it right the first time.
