About 4 days ago my neighbor dumped a shitload of SALTED pretzels on my compost heap ( and buried it so birds wouldnt get them). It's been cultivating for about 7 weeks and I just found out this morning. Is it ruined?

Unless they dumped a bucket load or several buckets full it should be fine

Awesome...I thought just a little bit of salt would compromise the dirt

    Compost

What was your pile like before the pretzels?

In my mind a active pile will use the salt.

Also I noticed MJ is ok with high sodium. I don't suggest creating a high sodium soil but it didn't seem to harm MJ when I used a powered instant tea I made that was tested to be high in sodium from composting veggies tossed from the store.

It would seem our veggies have a bit of sodium in them. I'd guess they soak it up out of the soils.

So is this pile you tend hot?

    Well ??

I don't like to leave finished on the ground.

If you have it off the ground the compost will be better imo.

I mean like on plywood or something that drains

It's pretty warm...a few degrees hotter than it is outside. I just turned it this morning and there is no sign of the pretzels anymore so i figure all the salt will just wash away.
