Security & Legal Advice Depending where you live growing cannabis can be illegal & getting caught will in most cases cause you to be charged and convicted of a crime. Please check your local & state law's before you start growing cannabis. Most places charge by plant number, other's charge by weight. Usually any cultivation charge is a felony. What can I do to stay safe when growing? ------------------------------------------------ Their are many types of thing's a grower can do to stay safe while growing however, the best thing to do is use common sense. Don't tell or sell if you grow cannabis!!!! Keep your grow free from unwonted eyes & traffic. Using lock's & stealthy cabinet’s are a great way to keep people out and away from the grow. Upkeep of equipment & general maintenance along with understanding safety issues such as general electrical knowledge is a great way to keep the local fire dept from responding to a call to your house. Coming home to find your place burnt down & find that the friendly fire dept has saved your plant's for local LEO to be used as evidence is common or if the maintenance man finds your grow after entering your place on a work order. .Keep these thing's in mind when growing. General Indoor Growing --------------------------- -Lighting Their are a lot of way's to grow indoor's safely. Light sealing the grow room/cabinet to prevent other's from seeing the light is very helpful. Using Air or Water cooled hood's will help prevent LEO from detecting heat that comes from lamp's.*NOTE LEO need's a warrant to use heat detecting equipment. -Smell Smell is 1 of the way's growers get caught, using carbon scrubbers, air scrubbers & proper venting will help with smell issues. -Cabinet’s & Stealth Growing Using cabinet’s and lock's to grow is a great idea to keep other's from seeing or entering the area where you grow. Outdoor Growing -------------------- -Plot's Choose a place with NO traffic either by land or air. Don’t be seen bringing grow supplies & jug's of water to your plot. Try to visit as little as possible. When planting keep the landscape as natural as possible. Don't remove a lot of ground cover or plant's that are around the plot and after digging the plot's cover the freshly dug ground with brush. Ordering On-line -------------------- -Seed's Ordering seed's threw breeder's is safe although illegal, you will not get in trouble. Sending & receiving seed's from other growers & friend’s is also simple to do but illegal; again you will not get in trouble. You will see nothing more then a letter being sent to you saying "Your seed's were seized & it is against the law to send or receive seed's." Using stealthy packages is the best way to send & receive seed's. It is best NOT to send them to your grow address. -Clones Sending & receiving clones threw the mail is also illegal but it can be done. This unlike seed's would result in charges being files against you. Check your local & state law's. Check the board’s for thread's on how to send & receive cutting's safely. -Grow equipment & supplies It is safe to order equipment & supplies on line. Their is no reason to worry about ordering from hydroponic stores or any other supply shop(s) for lighting, nutrient's or anything else you need. Packages are fairly stealthy and safely shipped. Sending them to another place beside your grow address is wise though. Is it safe to go to & buy from Hydroponic stores? --------------------------------------------------------- Yes, their is no reason to be worried about buying supplies or equipment from hydroponic supply shop's. Many choose to travel out of state to purchase their supplies which is safer but, it is generally safe anywhere, I only know of 1 place in the US that watches grow shop's, California. Canada is known to have hydroponic shops watched. What about On-line surfing & grow sites? ----------------------------------------------- -IP Address Most grow site's are very safe and don't keep record's of your IP Address. They may LOG the address but that info is not shared or supplied to other's. A warrant is needed to gain access to the server to gain info & evidence, then a 2nd warrant is needed to gain knowledge of & or access to your IP Address. -What can LEO do with this info? Be aware that many site's are most likely being watched and info is being gathered.. however, their is little to worry about due to "Internet Hacking Law's". Before any evidence can be used against you a warrant is needed for the site's server. Once a warrant is issued for the server, a 2nd warrant is needed to gather info on you. This is very hard to do since LEO need's to prove their is actual proof the grow is real & more importantly is the owner of the IP Address the grower or some "unknown" person just using the address to log on and post? -What about posting pic's? Posting pic's is harmless as long as you keep your self anonymous. LEO need's actual proof your growing before anything can be done. A tip about some one posting pic's is not enough & remember the "Internet Hacking Law's". Now on the other hand if your busted for growing the pic's and info gathered from your PC can and will be used against you. So in general use common sense & understand that LEO need's a reason to be in the right place at the right time to bust you, don't place your self in that place.. if you can. Wave & be friendly to your neighbor's, don't cause a need for LEO to show up at your grow & keep thing's highly secure. Remember LEO work's up the chain. You sell to X, X sell's to O, O get's busted, O roll's on X, X roll's on you.
