Well I saw this thread on another site and thought I would ask here... What was the sweetest ride you had and why did you like it so much.. Given my screen name I think its clear that I have had quite a few nice rides.. A short list of my favs and why... 72 Camaro with a 350 v8.. I liked this car cuz I was 14 at the time I bought it with a freind, we would fix it up and drive it around smoking,drinkng what not......At the time I was the only kid in my school with a car. The teachers found out about it and had it towed from the parking lot. Me and my buddy went and stole it outta the impound lot LOL. Later I sold my half to my buddy. 1974 Mustang 2 This was a POS car but I loved it. It was the first car I owned and the last ford!!! 6 months after buying it, a short in the wiring burned it down... 1979 Monte Carlo.... The nicest car I owned as a teen. Dark blue with tinted windows and Cragar S/S mags. It had a 350 v8 and a turbohydro 350 tranny.. I took a trip to the big city after having the car for 2 years and it was stolen from the hotel parking lot. Shitty trip had to take the bus home. 1969 CB750 Honda inline 4 OMFG!!! I bought this bike as a wreck from the junkyard, 45.00. The bike was complete and had been left sitting outside for a few years. I stripped the bike down to the frame and chopped it. No turn signals, no front fender, no front brake just one lousy drum on the back. No horn and an extended front end. I rebuilt the engine and added a crane cam accel ignition, with slide bore carbs. This bike was scary fast, mostly due to lack of enough braking power LOL I had several other Honda 4's since then and I really like the 69 to 78 Cb750's. Second only to a harley. 1992 Kawasaki Ninja 600cc's DAMN DAMN DAMN I won this monster in a drag race in Philly one night. No title and it was not street legal due to numerous mods.. I rode the bike for awhile and just kept "finding" new tags for it LOL It was a beast!! I could pull wheelies a highway speeds no problem! I had this bike for about 4 months lent it to a freind, who was trying to be cool and pull a wheelie while leaving the parking lot of my apartment. Guess what he was not cool, he flipped the bike backwards and then it flew into a row of parked cars. I just stood there amazed at his stupidity and then realized I was in a lot of trouble cuz the tags were "found" I ripped the plate off as fast as I could and left my buddy standing there to explain everything to the Cops. I told him to not tell the Cops it was my bike!! 1990 Jeep This is one of my current rides. 4.0 inline 6 with a 4 speed auto. 4.5 inches of lift and 35" tires. I have wheeled this jeep hard and often. Damn good truck, sadly after I get my other car on the road(a hotrod) Ill have to sell this one cuz there is not enough money or time for both. My next ride will be a custom made all electric ride. I am currently thinking about making it a trike, not sure though. I dont really want to fuck around with 3 wheels but it would be cool. I am not sure about how I will do this one though. A complete ground up custom car similar to the ones they built in the 60's and 70's. A one off show car. one of a kind. I still dont know exactly what it will look like, but hey that part of the fun...and part of the terror! So chime in folks I wanna hear your stories. MAD MAX
1st 1963 ford fairlane ranch wagon given by my granddad 15th bd was used, but he did buy it new.oh yea had a 260 v8 3 on the tree. white with blue interior. 2nd 1972 cutlass supreme 2 door 350 brown on brown automatic ralley wheels, i bought that car for 400.00 dollars and drove it 3 years before I traded for a 72 442 his n hers shifter, oh yea convertible cost me 1600.00 dollars bought it from a old man thathad bought it new. 4th BMW 320 auto sunroof, piece of crap 5th 1965 black buick skylark 900.00 dollars dead mans car sold by the old wife blue interior powerwindows and aircon 4 door sweet ride had like a 390 or someshit. 6th skip it 7th skip it 8th 92 vw corrado white with brown interior, 5speed car would haul ass, traded it for a 96 gti 6 cyl. sunroof, 5 speed. 9th skip it was a fiat uno i lived in england, and gas was fucking expensive 89p a litre. now I drive single speed gazelle, black on black, with a new bell. seriously, I will probbaly buy a vehicle soon, it just takes time over here to find the right choice, hard to park cars around here, and also gas is like 12.00 dollars a gallon, so not sure to go the street bike or the economy , or even midsized, but I cant see myself riding in a huge fucking bmw or someother german or french car. 1976 Chevelle Laguna The first car I ever bought was a '76 Chevelle Laguna, it had a 400 small block, swivel bucket seats and a custom stereo system that jammed!!! Man, I miss that car!! It was a sweet ride! I bought it from a fellow Air Force guy in '78, so it was in really good shape when I got it! Wonder where it is now?
1st car was a 77' MG Midget I got free from my Grandma when I was 16 to drive around in ... I got it taken away a few months later for my parents busting me with pot and booze. 2nd car (out here in PA) I was 18 and bought a old Buick Regal, and about 6 months later I got into a bad accident with it and screwed my back up. 3rd car 1992 F150 regular cab 4x4, I needed a work truck at 18 and bought this. 3rd car 1997 F250 super duty, I needed a new work truck as when we loaded a bunch of gravel we snapped a leaf spring on the '92 F150 and screwed it up beyond what I wanted to fix. So the new '97 took it's place when I was just over 19 (about 8 months later) 4th car - 2003 F250 Super Duty, I got this beyotch brand-spankin' new for $27,000 ... it's the LASt of the 7.3l diesels and I LOVE IT! 4x4, crew cab, I've got 2 JL 13.5 W7's in it with a Memphis 4000D and Memphis 6x9 speakers all around ... it hits pretty fkn hard! 5th car - needed to burn some money out of my business fund for taxes so I bought a "business" car, 2004 BMW 325ix ... bought it last year, it was another late-sale and got it just over 28,000. got 2 JL 15's in the trunk and a 2000D to power it. W3 JL's but it's still pretty loud, it's blue on black with spinners! I had to feel like a rap-star in this bitch ... 6th car - needed another business vehicle so I bought a 2006 Ford F650 for our tool truck to jobs from our shop. diesel and it's a easy rider, it'll hit 60 as fast as my other trucks and cruise 75 all day long. I like cars I want to buy a sprint car or late model in the near future to hit up tracks over PA here!
My first car was a Datsun 280Z. I loved that car. A friend of mine had a 67 Chevelle and he was communiting to work every day it was eating up gas so we traded cars. That Chevelle was the best car I ever had, a hog on the road, no matter the weather, back roads, highway, that car was the shit. But...the gas was costing me a fortune so I traded it in on a new Dodge Colt. I will always regret it.
hmm the best rides i've had were my 97 elclipse GST, with a 6 bolt swap full built bottom end everything from the blance shaft eliminator, knife edged crank, forged pistons arp bolts everything, full race head big huge front mount intercooler, .63 a/r t3/t4 turbonetics turbo and a shit load of other shit including controllers, cmoputers, gauges but the car put down 445 FWHP on the dyno jet and run a consistent 11.0-11.2 @ 135-140 MPH all depending on the launch and how hard i layed into it during 1-3rd trying to keep traction, that thing was so fun cause you could just walk over just about anything on the road casue that car was so light, probably the 2 cars i was most proud of betting was a viper and Zo6 they were both stock but those are badass cars and i didn't spend $80,000 . Only other thing i've owned that was IMO fun to own was my '02 Yamaha R1, man that thing was so quick and i thought the car felt fast that thing felt some much quicker but then again getting on the throttle in the eclipse did make it pull the front end off the groung either. thats one thing that took a little getting used to, it's just crazy to be able to get on it at 100 MPH and the front start raising on you if your not careful. That thing was a rush man but its probably good that i no longer have it cause that shit can go real bad real quick.
im curretnly building a new car maybe like a 96 vw golf 2 door,they make a good build car,or this burnt up 94 porsce for 800$,im checking out the golf today,ina few weeks maybe soma u that stay in my area will be see me heading to work goin a buck 5 the whole way
somthing like that in the right,but about 3-4 years older and 2 door,you'll see by the time im done with this new project ill have that baby running early 12's
OK I had a 1995 Eclipse RS it was stock except for 16" Crager Lite rims short ram intake Pilot Exhaust and FiberGlass Wing and I ran 10.9's and 11.0's and it was a automatic and I was manual shifting it. I had a 1995 Eagle Talon TSI 2wd drive 5 speed now that damn thing was fast as shit when the turbo was puttin out 12lbs of boost. I have a 1986 Honda Accord Slammed now with 17" Chrome Rims on it now. And also a 1995 Eclipse GS Short Ram Intake, 3aRacing Dual Oval Exhaust, Slamed, 18" Revolution Racing Rims, Clear Taillights, Evo body kit, Head has been port, polished, & Shaved, Crane Cams Inginition System, JVC stereo 2 12" Sony Expload Subs 820 watt Power Acoustik Gothic Series Amp that shit hits hard as hell in the trunk rattles the whole ass end, 5 Speed, Total of 210HP. I love it I just bought it about 3 months ago. The Honda about 5 months ago. I had a slammed truck but I didn't like it as much as my cars. I Hate Found On Road Dead's = FORD, and CHEVY or should I say GMC's are ok. But I love a Japanise CAR. Mitisubishi, Nissian, Mazda, Toyota, Honda, ETC.
I supposed you mean it ran a 11 in the 1/8th a mile cause i had a rs for a little while and there is no way a car with 140Hp stock could run that shit the stock gst 210Hp still only runs in the 14's stock. the GST i had was like your talon only it was running 25 lbs of boost on high and 15 PSI daily but all i had to do was hit the button the the profec B and turn on my Safc and bamn HP from mid-high 200's to mid 400's. now that thing was a freaking blast to drive.
64 Nova, Puched out 327 to 331 430Hp with an 5:13 possi. With the 5:13 the car would not do 1/4 mile (Geared to low) but would kick ass in the 1/8 mile. I was running high 8's in the 1/8th mile after I added the 4 link. before the 4 link it was just a wheel hopping burn off machine. In my case you can have all the power in the world. But it all about hooking up on the launch. 4 bangers don't stand a chance
um it's not so sweet but i will add my girl. 1996 toyota rav4. yeah, that's about it. wow, i probly shouldn't have even posted. but she gets me from point a to point b and pretty good gas mileage (which is so important these days), and has never had a problem (since i was 15, when i got her......what kind parents!) that was not caused by some dumbass hitting me.
i've had a few rides in my days. 76 & 1/2 Firebird nicknamed Rusty cause thats all it was. speedometer cable snapped on 147mph. & stayed that way. sold it to a buddy so he could use the trannie. had to chain the hood down or else it would ripp off the car ! Yeah thats what ever guy who drove V8 or V10 i raced said before i walked their ass, man i'n the 1/8 i would still run 7's so i guess my 4-banger and my friends could as well, i'll see if i can find my videos of walking some supras, Z06's, vipers, porsche GT2's. but then again my car did put out probably 15 more HP and was way lighter, even if you would have got me in the 1/8th which i doubt since i walked a few blown novas, camaros and such i would have so smoked your ass in the 1/4 and on the highway you would have been dead at a 80 punch specially with my taller gears only bikes that could pull me on the high way were liter bikes, like GSXR 1000's and R1's and shit i could pull on 600's and a few 750s depending on what they were up until i was topping out around 160 or so not sure since thats were the speedo stops. Only 2 V8 cars i can think of that really handed me my ass was a badass nova running ethanol and blown like crazy that thing rode a damn wheelie for a good distance and also this really nice tt viper that was pushing like 1000HP. But i could hang with the best of them if i couldn't beat them, being at the 10 sec mark is pretty bad ass and i have a friend from houston that runs an even older 92 eclipse GSX that's running in the 8's in the quater with full enterior, just look up johhny sheppard. you can't deny thats impressive.
Man i love that color, my old eclipse was simliar it was house of kolor candy oriental blue looked like yours in direct light but deep midnight blue from any other angle.
Skunky to the normal person I sure your stories sound cool. Let me get this strait. You have a car that pulls 10's in the 1/4 and then you take the same care and go do 160 on the highway? Must be some wonder gearing you have there. Now lets talk about V8 power. When is the last time you seen a top fuel car with a 4 banger? When is the last time you seen an monster truck with a 4 banger? I will give you the 4 bangers have come a long way. But you put the same big bucks into the V8 and suspension 4 bangers don't stand a chance in drags. I might be wrong but I call BS on only being beat by 2 V8 cars. And 1000HP at that? So you telling me your 4 banger beats 1000HP bracket cars? LOL Been to the drags many times. I never seen the 4 bangers competing with the V8 muscle. Maybe it just the race track I go to I don't know. Now street cars (which was the Nova I had) I can see 4 bangers kicking some ass. But 1000hp v8 cars come on!!!!! At all means I don't want to start a war here about cars. I will admit that it been years ago (80's) when I was racing street legal brackets. Then 4 bangers did not stand a chance. I just watched John force get beat by a 4 banger. That car did 4 sec 1/4 LOL Just kiding The nova I had looked something like this one
