you hit the nail on the head i have lost seed shipments in the past, and have never even thought to ask for a reship, or go on the boards bitching about it.
I don't see signing for seeds as a big deal. If customs found your seeds they are going to confiscate them and send you notice. I can't see them setting up a sting to bust me for ordeing 5 seeds. The time, resources, and manpower needed would not be worth the end result. That would be me, a VERY small grower. I could be wrong. But my logic sounds right. Peace......
Good logic. But as I've pointed out before the risk is the one in hundred chance that some state or Fed AG decides to make an example with a minor seed bust. Any investigation then has the chance of exposing the bigger problem of a felony garden. Don't think it can happen? Ask Diane Monson who was the grower in Raich vs Gonzales. She was a state legal grower with 6, yes 6 whole plants, who stumbled onto the fed radar and ended up as a Supreme Court case. No thank you. The real answer is for us U.S. buyers to man up and accept seizures as cost of living in a non-legal region instead of hassling legitmate seedbanks.
Thanks for the Vendor choices, Res. They are bookmarked and I am perusing their gear. You laid it out right . You are taking your chances when ordering seeds. I have been lucky in that my relatively few orders, so far, have made it through unscathed. Shit happens, though. BBT
Dont forget NIRVANA seeds.............ive used them and never had any isues, you may not get the "real deal" but ive grown a few "real deals" next to Nirvanas and about 75% of the time NIRVANA was waaaaaay better in all aspects
What the eff is it with some of the Canadian seed banks these days? Several years ago I ordered a pack of seeds from Dr. Greenthumb for just under 100usd. That same strain, Endless Sky as well as most of his gear has doubled in price. FWIW you can send him cash & he'll ship the seeds without requiring a signature I havent' noticed anyone here using the Canadian seedbanks here on GK, any reason?
first off I would not sign for something that wasnt sent signature required. The Tude shipped my tee in soft packing which allowed the mail man to leave it in a small postal box. The Tudes stealth shipping methods do not require a signature. I would be leary of it as has been said the USPS is a federal agency and using them to ship and receive illegal cannibis seeds is a federal crime regardless of state law. now I agree that we as US growers take a chance when ordering seeds. My thinking is ... dont offer a reship gaurantee in the first place. If the seedbanks/breeders didnt offer that as an option then the customers wouldnt ask for it. Yes some would still pester the seedbank as they have no morals and ethic. But hey if someone gaurantees to replace something that doesnt arrive if I choose the more expensive "stealth" shipping then guess what??? Im gonna ask for my replacement. If no such claim is made prior to my order, then I assume the risk willingly. Especially seeing they all have disclaimers saying they arent responsible for seized shipments. The Tude gaurantees reship if you choose stealth shipping. That carries an additional charge and also gives a tracking number. But no sig required and can watch the progress of your package. Sannie didnt offer different shipping options when I ordered from him but he promised to reship if not arrived. Bottom line for me is I will NOT sign for anything I know contains seeds or MJ.
I went to the post office, which is a small rural one in a stand-alone building. As expected, there were no SWAT vans or other LEO vehicles around. I went in and stood in line. There were two people in line ahead of me, and I watched the clerks processing their orders. I have seen the clerks before, and recognized both of them. Nothing seemed unusual at all. When I got to the counter, I handed the woman my note and said "I must have been shipped a package." She turned around and disappeared into the back, re-emerging less than a minute later with a small soft package, which had various scribbles all over it. She scanned it, smiled and handed it to me. "Have a great day. Next in line please?" No signature required. I got back in my car and drove away. The package bore a customs declaration sticker on the back, announcing the contents to be a "t-shirt and storage tin." That seemed weird. The package had not been opened as far as I could tell, and the declaration sticker was sealed over the flap, intact. I ripped it open in the car...BEANS. :eusa_eh: Not sure I'll ever do this again
nice tee better than the one I got... but wonder if its a good idea to show eaxactly what the packaging looks like
I wonder how they knew it was a t-shirt? I mean, an article of clothing...but howd they know a shirt? Weird. Glad you got em!
I agree if there advertising replacements at a higher cost to buyer then why is it wrong to ask if you do not receive your order? But if it's not advertised then you should know and accept the risks.
Like I said, it was probably just cuz you weren't there originally to accept delivery of the package. Track and trace shipments need to be hand delivered to a person. Unless you have a locking mailbox maybe. They need to be able to verify to the shipper that the package was actually delivered. If they leave it in an unsecured mailbox, then there is no actual verification that the package arrive at the address. If they hand it to a person then they can say that someone living at said address accepted delivery and the track and trace is fulfilled. When I ordered my seeds from the Tude (I also selected the stealth shipping) my mailman came to my gate and honked until I came out. He handed me the package and said have a good day. Same as the mail clerk behind the counter at your local post office.
Nope, but it has nothing to do with their shipping. Never had a problem with beans arriving from the 'Tude. Not excusing the seedbanks on some of this. They've propagated the impression that their stealth shipping is the bomb and charge more because they get to sell an extra t-shirt or other trinket. Sure the extra $$ may help your order get through buried in something else but there's still no guarantee customs in your home country won't nab it. For seedbanks to leave even the slightest impression that they could, or would, replace lost orders to a country that seizes them is foolhardy and simply bad business. Now dead beans on the other hand........I gots issue with that.
The track and trace does not have to be hand delivered. It just allows them to know where and when it was delivered. I had a shipment from the Attitude delivered to the wrong town. They knew what time it was delivered and what mailman delivered it. It doesn't tell them to whom it was delivered or the address. Just that it was delivered. If the mailman thinks it's safe to leave it, he will. I've never had to be around to get my packages. They were just left in a good spot. If it fits in the box, that's where it goes. If not and your carrier isn't lazy, they'll leave it between your doors if they can. And as for the Attitude, I expected a reshipment and I got it. Sannie's was different. I wasn't expecting a re-shipment, but he did. And as far as how they knew that a t was in there, the sender has to declare what they are sending. Thats the customs declaration sticker. The sender writes that out.
cause you have to "declare" the contents of the package when sending things internationally. It was the attitude employee who declared the contents of the package, not customs, that's why it said T-Shirt on it
