This is a DWC i made from a bucket that came with cat litter. i cut a square hole in the lid for the pot. i used a 4" square pot that i added extra holes in the bottom and sides of. it was easier to cut a square out with a razor knife than a round one for net pots (and i kept the piece i cut out to cover the site!) i drilled a 7/32" hole for the 1/4" air line. that way its tight and doesnt leak light. i drilled a 7/8" hole and put a 1/2" grommet w/ 1/2" elbow fitting in the front. i used a little bit of poly-vinyl hose and a 3/4" female thread and male cap with the elbow. i will use this for a mother plant started as a clone. the bucket had to be light-proofed. i use 1/4" rockwool cubes topped off with grow rocks to keep the top algae free. grow rocks tend to block the holes if im not using net pots.

I especially like the connection on the bottom. Is this for draining or are you going to connect other buckets to it?

:ty2: everyone. i have a bunch of DWC's now. sum of them use micro jets, drippers, or flood the pots from above in addition to the roots in the water.

either way, they were all inspired by fellow GK'rs. i didnt know :poop: til i joined this site. i thought i did, haha, but i soon found out otherwise.

    :ty: :GK:

NICE!! Can't wait to see it in action. :popcorn-2:

Those buckets make good soil pots too. With the shape, you can pack 'em tight.

You should paint or tape over the entire bucket

My cats go through one of those buckets every month and I have always thought they would make good grow buckets, but they just go to the recycling center.

Here is that same twig of a clone exactly 1 week later. all i used was a few drops of superthrive and full strength dose of root 66 in 4 gallons.
