Two cloning issues.

    1) Using a clone as a mother - I've read that continuing to clone clones will result in abnormalities. What about just doing it the one time, as in using your first clone as a mother...

    2) I've noticed that the clones of mine that root first in the rockwool are the ones that I cut just below a leaf, then strip that leaf off, and some of the outer skin of the main stalk is stripped. So, would it be a good idea to use a razor and skin the outside skin of the stalk?

    1. I've wondered about that too. Methinks it to be an old wives tale but never had a third generation clone before.

    2. I "rough up" the end cut and seem to get better results than with a clean cut. Not necessarily a skinning of the stalk but more of a scrape of the last half inch or so.

    cheers,

yea scrape the bark lightly before u put on the rooting solution works great 4 me

Just scrape into the zest of the stem. Dont go too deep!

Dude i take clones of clones of clones of clones of clones. These are digital recordings were the fidelity decreases a good deal ever time. Idk man plants seems to have a very efficient means of of preserving their genomes, I assume something to do with telomerase activity.

I used to cut slits down the clones but don't anymore. Seems if you make a good clean cut the roots have no problems forming from the bottom. Hasn't seemed to slow down the rate of developing new roots.

Skunky, are you saying you take clones of clones of clones of clones, and that's a bad idea?

I'm afraid I got lost there somehow. It seemed like you advocated it, then denounced it, maybe there were some typo's or something. If YOU do it, I'm assuming it's a good idea.

I guess what I'm saying is what do you mean by a "decrease in 'fidelity' ever time"? I know what fidelity means,[loyalty, accuracy right?] but I'm not sure how I follow how it applies. Sorry for the ignorance.

I also scrape the bottom quarter inch of the stem. I use asprin water instead of commercial hormone with a near perfect success rate and I know asprin inhibits the natural repair function of the plant. That's why many people crush asprins in the water for flowers.

I also take clones of clones of clones and haven't seen any negative repercussions.

It would certainly make sense that clones remain stable if the telomeres are replaced. In fact, if that is the case an older mother would suffer more cell damage due to non-replication causes of aging and it would be wise to replace the mother with a clone from healthy tissue periodically.

How the F did you get lost there?!!!

What I'm pretty sure he's saying, is that, after generation's of clone's, that he has no mutant's.

Yup that's exactly what I meant.

That sentence should have read these are not high fidelity digital recordings. In this case fidelity is used to describe something such as audio or video, when you make digital copies each time you make one the sounds quality get worse or the picture gets more fuzzy. With plants you won't see that. Actually you can see the exact opposite if you didn't grow them right the first time around. Example, buddy of mine and the KKSC. First time around he tried growing it out in a 1 gal pot I told him it was too small but he disregarded. Plant became root bound and by the end of its time was the most pathetic airy shittiest looking bud I have ever seen come from this guy. I mean looked like complete shit, in no way resembled the KKSC from my cab. This time around he moved them back to the 2.2gal hempys and now they look just like mine. Keep in mind every single clone he is running came from that pathetic piece of shit plant.

Ok, thanks a ton skunky + others. I'm going to get as many clones as possible off my already growing clones before mid march. I'm going to use one of the original clones as a mother...

    Peace out.
