When to grow indoors for outdoor transplant?

Discussion in 'Advanced Cultivation' started by growanywhere420, Mar 11, 2004.

  1. I have a few questions as follows:

When do I plant indoors for plants to be big and healthy to be transplanted outdoors?

I have clones which will be going outdoors, how long after they root should I wait to transplant out doors?  Any special care needed specifically for them?

    What type of light cycle would I use indoors before I send them outside?  I want to get them going, in hopes of having atleast 2 months of outside vegie growth;

The area which everything will be planted is in Kentucky...
When is a good time to plant?

What organic ferts should be used for vegie and budd'n stage outdoors? (including clones)

I have a few cuttings that were taken about a week ago... so when should I plant them outside?

I have 5 seeds from bagseed of killer... providing they are female, how long before the natural growing season should I start them?
Any and all information, websites will be very useful.  I am some what expeirenced in growing, I just never started inside, and transplanted outside.  And sort of confused about the inside light cycle then taking them outside.. would that not shock them?
Oh and direct sunlight.... Part of the day is direct.. in the morning until about noon.
    Thanks all.....

The ideal size for transplanting is 12"--15".
Less and the plant won't be as hardy, bigger and you have a higher risk of transplant shock.
The light cycle you should veg them under inside should be the same as the outdoor light cycle when you plan to set them outside.
You should also harden your plants before transplanting them, by setting them outside in full sun for 1 hour the first day, 2 hours the next, etc.
You can plant anytime the last danger of frost has past.

  3. Thanks I appreciate that. I want them to be really developed when I set them outside... Including the clones. They've been going since Feb 25th, and I think I will set everything by the end of April. Would that be cool?

    Welcome to GrowKind!
What kind of lights are you growing under?

  5. I am using Fluros just get them started, and a good healthy start at that. I have a total of about 5-6 thousand lumens of light on two clones, 3 seedlings and a mother that is about to be harvested. I used all that light for the mother, and she has done extremely well. I want to use the remaining light after harvest to get my plants to a desired hieght before I transplant. I think the light I have will support them just enough until I set them out. The I did not start clones, or seedling until Feb 25. Now she's ready to be picked of her treasures....
AS for the clone and seedlings, they are growing at a phenomenal rate. I have plenty of light and reflections.
I expect to set them outdoors some time in Late April to mid May: By then, what I have now, the clones and seedlings will be very big and ready for mother nature.. (a fan is constantly on 24-7 and have stalks that look like tree bark.. lol
