Anybody know a good source (like, I can click there now) for buying ss wire 100 mesh for a hash tumble? I need about 16" X 30", and I can get two little squares and patch them together to go round the tumbler, for $44 plus shipping from Hazemaker Pollen Sifter Box http://www.bcboxes.com/ or I can buy 12 square feet of it for $75 bucks! http://www.twpinc.com/twpinc/control/modifycart

The common advice is "Check your local art supply store" but mine doesn't have it. So its the internet or bust, baby

I'd use nylon or whatever, but I think stainless steel is the best, or at least will reduce the cleanings.

AB! Nice to hear from you. I laughed my ass off about your post on Cannagirl's blow job thread.

Thanks for the link. I've looked for hours to no avail.

You can get it on ebay. They are made of nylon or polyester.

i went ahead and ordered two different sizes from the link AB posted. Was total 38.75 for 6 yards 52" wide. Plenty for tumblers.

What about stainless steel wire mesh such as this guy recommends?

    found it

Heads up for all you who want to build a tumbler or sifter of some sort: found it!

For everything you might ever need to build a tumbler or sifter, including motors, bearings, large diameter hose clamps, speed contollers, stainless steel wire mesh big enough to make a decent sized tumbler, go to.......(drum roll)

    :beerchug-2:

They've got it all. Trouble is figuring out what you want or need.

Resolved the search. Too bad I found alternative (and probably inferior) products that will sort of do the job, and purchased them before I found this site. I got a rock tumbler motor from Lortone and nylon mesh from AB's link. Wish I has SS!

You can also use a rotisserie motor

how did you know how to spell that?

I tried using a rotissire motor. bought it at home depot for $39.

    Its suuuuuuppppppeeeeerrrrrrr slooooowwwwwwwww.:passsit:

I wold say one full rotation takes about 10 seconds. I'd been scoping rotisseri motors for a few months, and home depot had two types. One came in a long box and cost $69. The other was in a short box and cost $49. I was getting up the courage to plunck down the cash when the smaller one went on sale for $39. I bought it, and when I hooked it up :roffl:

It works though. I just leave it on for a full day. I got over 5 grams of hash from 150 grams of trim.

I also have a small rock tumbler motor from Lortone. I am engineering anew motor mount and hook-up now.

In retrospect, I totally should have just ordered a tumbler from O'Kief. Connection to GK or not, I've spent more time and energy, not to mention actual money, trying to buld a tumbler than is warranted. My tumbler is sweet (mirror collection plate, big 11" hopper, etc) but for $250 and 5 minutes of orderig, the O'kief tumbler is looking real nice right about now. Seriously, I have several full weekends and about $120 out already. And counting.

I am just an incurable builder. I make things. I am obsessed with building crap I could more easily buy. It's fun. I get a kick out of all the threads of guys putting together stuff from things lying around the house. Farmer stock, I guess. My credo is "I have done so much for so long with so little I am now qualified to do anythig with nothing."
