In about a week or so I'll be taking clones from my 3 remaining WW's. They are now a month old, but no alternating nodes yet, however, there are plenty of side shoots that I could take. These WW's started off slow but are really kickin ass now. Should I wait til I get alternating nodes?. On my previous grows, when I topped each plant, they then started growing alternating nodes, right away. Is that the same as natural maturity resulting in alternating nodes(did that make sense)? Everyone says wait til you see alternating nodes before you go into 12/12. So there ya go, alot of ?s. Another Q is this. What part of the plant is better for taking cuttings, the tops or the sides. Or is that a personal choice? Any help will, as always, be greatly appreciated. Laters, IMSOXITED
I find the lower shoots to make the best clones. The plus is that you get to keep that special main cola too. Clones can be taken at any point beyond the plant having 5 nodes if ya ask me, but I only flower a plant when it is mature (alternating nodes).
Thanks for the reply Herbsparky. I trust your advice. Im gonna wait til next wknd to take my clones, but I'll let ya know how they do. Like I said, I have 3 WW's doing great and I figure that Ill take 3 clones from each. Best scenario will be that they are all 3 fems (the parents), but I'll be happy with just 1. I'll also be getting my 2nd 150w HPS for the flower chamber. Total of 300 watts in 3.5sq ft. Im so psyched about that. Anyhows, thanks again. IMSOXITED!!!!!!!!
I 've always found clones taken from the lower of the plant root faster because i think there is more auxins promoting root growth in the plant at the lower parts. Plus by clipping these you won't have to worry about having small skimpy buds on the lower parts when you flower.
Good points GT. I couldn't remember "auxins" but that was the general idea of why I take clones from the lower shoots. Can't remember who brought that up long ago. Damn stoner that I am The good thing is that I remember the important parts.
Thanks again you guys for the advice. I went shopping today, and found a germination/ cuttings starter kit. It has a tray, dome, and 12 compressed sphagnum peat pellets. They swell up when you add water to the tray. Its called Jiffy-7, ever heard of it? Anyhow's I noticed some roots sticking out the bottom of the containers that I was growing in, so I transplanted them today, into 2 gallon containers. I"ll wait till next weekend to take the cuttings and get started. Since I have 12 pellets, I guess I'll take 4 cuttings from each plant. Stay tuned in your area for live updates. IMSOXITED (Edited by imsoxited at 7:05 pm on Jan. 11, 2004)
Hmm...sounds like a good plan. Do you have 3 White Widow females? (Edited by llIndigoll at 7:01 pm on Jan. 11, 2004)
Dont know yet. First generation from seeds I got from Jay at Badass Buds. Im hoping I have 3 fems, but I'll be happy with just 1. Why do you ask? Later, IMSOXITED
