Your 2014 vaporizer?

Every year I like to pull all of my gear out and do an inventory and think forward to what I want to add to my hobby next year. I pulled everything out of the closet and out of my smoke cave to take a look at what I had and was a bit shocked at my growing collection.

At the moment I have my pair of glass bongs that are the core of my smoking arsenal. My favorite is still my coil condenser bong that I bought online. It gives the coolest smoke of everything I own and packs a good punch. It takes a little more work to keep clean than some of my other gear, but it has been worth it. The other glass bong is about as generic as they come. I cannot even remember where I picked it up, but it still serves its purpose and is the bong I prefer to share with others.

The next items are my pipes. I thought I only had two or three pipes, but it appears the number has grown to six. I probably should not count three of them, since they are still sealed in their original packaging and were purchased to be gifts in the coming year, but for the moment they are still mine. I have a pair of glass Sherlock pipes that are my favorite to drop in a pocket when I am going out to meet with friends. The other one is the one I had forgotten, since I rarely use it. It is a dragon shaped glass pipe in a combination of vivid green and gold. I may have to drag that one out when I finish my collection of the Hobbit movies and sit down for an entire weekend to watch. I’ll just have to practice blowing smoke rings like Gandalf.

I do not own any full-sized vaporizers, yet. I do have a pair of vaporizer pipes that you heat with your lighter. They are low priced items I picked up on sale and enjoy toying around with, but still revert back to my glass pipes or bong for any serious smoking.

There is only one other piece that is in my historic arsenal, a small 4.3 inch double-bubbler. I take this on the road occasionally. It is not a replacement for a bong, but it is a little smoother than smoking from a standard pipe.

As I look forward, I only have two items on my wish list. I want to buy a new glass bong to replace my generic one. I have been looking at the EHLE Bent Neck from Smokewire, but may change my mind on that one.

The last item is a real vaporizer. I am still evaluating models, but have narrowed it down to just a few models with the Volcano being high on the list. This is one area where I will need a lot of advice. I am a real newbie to the vaporizer world, having only tried them a few times at homes of friends.

I know the year will go much differently than I plan. I never make it through a year without buying some items that are on sale either online or at local shops. Those items usually go to friends as gifts, but sometimes I surprise myself and hold onto them. I think that is how I acquired the cool looking dragon pipe.

What plans do the rest of you have for purchases in 2014? Do you plan to make any major changes to your smoking methods? I keep wondering if purchasing a vaporizer is going to change my habits permanently, or just add a new method of playing around.

I expect 2014 to be a very exciting year for all of us. The momentum that is happening with legalization could explode to more states this next year, and I expect it will.

Before I quit rambling, what vaporizer do you recommend? Does anyone have experience with the EHLE Bent Neck? Are you ready to vote for wider legalization of marijuana in 2014?

I've only had my Vapor Brothers hands free box vape for a few weeks but I can already tell it's going to my go to piece for some time. If you do a little research you'll find that it's probably the most copied whip style vape on the market. There's also more than a few video reviews of this unit on youtube included some updates after 4 yrs of use. You'll be hard pressed to find a negative report about any of their products.

I believe High Times ranked their "dabbler" as the best vape pen of 2103 as well.

    Cheers

Too bad the dabbler is only for oils and concentrate. A buddy uses one of those G-pens for that and works pretty good. He also has a PAX which I think is pretty cool and works well. Another friend uses a da vinci and the one thing that sucks about it is the battery life isn't that great. For non portables either vapor bros, silver surfer, or valcanos is all we use. we tried the vapir things in the past but just not the same quality. IMO.

Was going to follow up on this because got to experience a couple of new vapes and bought a new one myself. That got a damn good deal on mine.

So I have tried the vapor bros box styles, the silver surfer, volcano, the entire vapir line (Oxygen, O2, air, NO2..), extreme vape, some cheap ebay vapes, PAX, original davinci, vaporblunt and a couple of concentrate pens like the G pen. Out of those there are multiple good ones. I'd put the vapor bros, silver surfer, volcano, and extreme all on about the same par lever but they just offer you different features and functionality. Couldn't go wrong with either but on a budget the vapor bros and extreme are your best bets. With the handhelds I had tried the vapir handheld(NO2 and O2), the vapor blunt, magic flight box, the davinci and PAX. Magic flight was ok but felt it would end up broken easily. The Vapirs were nothing great. The davinci and Pax were better. The davinci tasted better, but the pax felt more free flowing on the hits and had some nice light features. Though the PAX is a pain when it comes to cleaning. That and it's a conductive vape instead of convection. So it's constantly heating the material, which I didn't like so much and seems to affect vapor quality.

So started looking around for a new toy. I was surprised to find that hightimes rates the atmos raw as the number one. I tried one out and man it was horrible, I would have been pissed had I bought it. So after carefully reading through reviews and forum postings online, I made a choice. The solo vape.

Only had it about a week or so. But man this thing tastes soo damn good. Battery life seems great, virtually no cleaning other than the glass bowl/mouth piece. It wouldn't be discreet enough to take with you in the car or something but for walking around the house or what not it's awesome. The pull on it I wouldn't mind it to be a little more free flowing because it is pretty restrictive. You have to take long slow hits. But they are smooth and taste great. Haven't had an issue with flash over or anything. That and I got an awesome price. I have typically made most purchases through gotvape.com. well when I was looking around I noticed how on a lot of the vapes that aren't brand new models, besides the volcano, they ask if you have seen it anywhere else cheaper. There is a second box under the sale price you can enter a new price and it will tell you right then if it will accept it. So I got my solo for $145 shipped instead of $224 or whatever it was. So might check that out if you are looking.

Then right after I bought that and got it my good buddy finally pulled the trigger on a new davinci to upgrade old one. So got his ascent and he said he was really disappointed at first. Said he ended up having to use a dremel to modify the glass oil cans to increase the flow and spread, because it was heating unevenly. Said it's great now.

If you are looking for a portable I would strongly consider the solo. And if you do I'd go through gotvape.com so you can get it for cheap.

The company that makes the solo is the same that makes the extreme vape and that thing is pretty sweet and works well. If you want table top vape but something more than just a standard box vape I would say it's definitely worth a shot. I think I priced it down to either $135 or $140 on gotvape.

Yup!!! That's the extreme vape. Made by the same company as the solo I just bought. The one you got you can get off gotvape now for $140. The advertised price says $239 I believe but if you enter in 140 into the price match field it will accept it and that will be the price with shipping. Thought that was really awesome, so figured I'd share and give a better run down on the vapes since we don't havetoo much info on them on here.
