Here is a general question for all you hydro heads. I switched over to bc boost, bc bloom, and bc growth, awesome blossoms, and thrive alive red. It is suppose to be ph balanced and stable.

What I have found is it leaves everything really filthy. It is not ph stable at all, and I am having some serious lock out. Has anyone used these products with better results? I am still at the stage of playing around with different nutes. I am looking for what will work best for my latitude, and water.

I think the filthy yech is caused by my water and the thrive alive. Just because of that I will switch when I am out of the bc brands so what do you folks use? Just looking for others' favorites and long tried and true stuff others use.:scream:

I use Vita-Grow 3-part. It comes in liquid or powder, so I order the powder and mix it myself because the shipping is cheaper. It is none-organic (pure chemical), so I use pure water the last week before harvest to try to clear out the salts.

I use the same BC nute package. Just started using it this grow. My current grow is 3 DWC buckets w/ 5 plants.

So far I have been fairly happy with them and my plants seem to healthier than any of my previous grows The guy that sold me the stuff said that BC had issued a new application chart and he gave me the new one. Not sure what amounts you are feeding with but I'm currently in mid-flower and I'm giving nutes at full strength according to the updated chart. Quantities are per gallon.

    15 ml Boost

    15 ml Bloom

    2.5 ml Awesome Blossom

    2.5 ml Thrive Red

I agree that it is either the Awesome Blossom, or the Thrive Red that is dirtying everthing up. The Boost and Bloom seem to be pretty clean dissolving. When I make up my buckets, I have 3 gal of H20. I mix up 2 gal of just ph adjusted water and one gallon of the mixture listed above. Then when I top off my buckets every other day I add full strength nute water. Every 3 weeks or so, I dump, clean, and start over.

As far as the PH drift. So far, I haven't had any real problems. My well water is at 7.4. If I add the mix above to a gallon of water, the PH will be right around 6.0. I'll add just a little Down to get it around 5.8. Over the course of a week or so, the PH will drift up a bit, but it did that with the Flora Nova nutes (not recommended) I used before, so I just expect it I guess.

On my first grow, I was obsessive over the PH, checking it everyday, adjust, check, adjust, check, over and over. This time, I just dial in the nute water I mix up and check the buckets every once in a while. So far so good.

All that being said, like you, I think I'm going to switch nutes again on my next grow. I don't like the 4 step mix process. Takes too long. I was looking at a GH product that is just a one step powder, that's supposed to be pretty good.

just curious as to why you didn't like it. you're growing DWC, but that's a soil nutrient?

Exactly. It's a soil nutrient, but I was trying to use it for DWC, with not good results. Problem was when I first went nutrient shopping I was a newb and didn't know the difference. The Flora Nova was "highly recommended" by the dickhead hippie burnout working there. He tells me, "Dude, this shit is the bomb for DWC."...Idiot!!

The stuff was so thick that it got all bound up in the root mass so heavy that it was just burning the shit out of it and I couldn't get it out. I switched over to just plain water for the last 3 weeks of flower but still over-nuted the hell out of it. It was bad.
