I decided to start a strain recommended for beginners after thoroughly abusing my Thai Hazes. Staying true to their name, 9 germed in 24 hours and here are 8 after 72 hours (probably a little less). One hasn't come up yet (and probably won't). I'm shooting for weekly updates. They will go into to flower when this one finishes four to six weeks from now. Seeds from a dime bag bought in Washington Square Park. Fast Blast after two days in soil One seed germed with two tap roots, now has two tops. Hope it turns out to be female. Hell, if it is a male I will probably do a seed run just to grow it out. I'll try to update weekly. Hope you'll drop in to check it out.
That's something that happens every now and again, you get twins. You can try to perform surgery, or just let them go, chances are one will die out(from the roots getting tangled together) or be a runt eventually from getting shaded out. Good luck on the grow.
Week 2 Thanks for checking in. I figure I will do weekly updates on the flowering plants as well. The Thai Hazes may actually finish after the Fast Blast, so it should be interesting to see two different flowering extremes side by side in a few weeks. I will be getting some better lights to veg under in a few days. The Fast Blast are a bit wrinkly, which may be the Blueberry genetics being weird, or an initial watering with too high pH. I think they will be fine. They are in Agway seed starter soil and will be transplanted to coco in a couple of weeks. I actually started the Fast Blast because I was fairly sure my Thunks weren't going to make it. Useless gave me some advice on tropical sativas which basically saved them. If I can bring them all the way through the 120+ day flower I will be one happy camper. They are just starting to relax their ram horns after enduring nitrogen toxicity and pH problems. I've got one more plant going that I posted pictures of a couple days ago. Check back in a week to see those buds swelling. I swear they get fatter by the day.
OK, here is day 17. I bobbled the tray they were on and watched helplessly as they hit the concrete one by one. So, they are a little banged up but apparently pretty tough, bouncing back nicely. I did some pruning and made some room in the tent that runs, 12/12 400w HPS. The breeder recommends two weeks veg if it is not grown 12/12 from seed. I am excited to see how they grow. Its a cross between an Iranian indica and a Blueberry indica. I found a thread on the Sensi board where the grower was pretty satisfied with his results. Unfortunately, the pictures had been removed or lost so I am doubly curious. I will probably transplant into coco pots in a few days and hopefully they will take off. This one shows the "twin" up front. Is there a chance they can turn out to be different genders? If so I want to try to separate them when I transplant. Another view. The small one up front was the ninth cup that I didn't think would sprout. It is a little behind and may just make it if it has that fighting spirit. My Thunks are on the mend and already I can tell I am going to be a huge haze fan. The flavor is amazingly spicy, really downright enchanting. I hope they continue to fill out. This is the tallest This one is really compact. I used Bushmaster with them because I have limited space and it stopped the stretch cold. I wish I had waited on this one. Live and learn. Left free they can reach 8 feet easily. It does have a nice top forming. This one has a few more branches. I will probably wrap them in hemp twine to keep it nice and neat. Finally my bagseed baby all grown up. Hell yeah, I grew my own! Thanks due to the GK crew for helping me through. I did my part and bought a Vaporbrothers. I love it, so win, win. Here is the fresh stash. Dry shots next week.
Not the best week Thanks again for showing up for my humble grow. Not much happening really, just keeping to the weekly updates because it keeps me (slightly more) organized. My brickweed babies have dried and are now curing in a jar. This is total commerical weed, very little smell even when drying, but has a sweet minty herbal taste. I gently rolled some of the buds when they were still a little sticky because I had an intuition it might help the curing process. Unrolled dried budshot Little pot-mice The Thunks are starting to fatten up a little. I am going switch to GH Flora series for nutes so I can cut the Nitrogen out completely and hopefully dial it into something they really like. Here is the mini-thunk Tall and Lanky Bushy The Fast Blasts look pretty bad. Well, maybe not too bad, but they have some problems and are getting worse. I need to transplant them soon, just waiting for some pots to arrive with some other grow stuff I ordered. Should be here Monday. There are two straight up mutants that I might grow out a little longer.
Lovely looking plants man! Very Nice, and full of Trichomes.... I just wanted to Post the a personal Veiw on the plants growing in flower there (The BAgseed or W/er,im not sure!) Anyway... Yea, the Feeding on that Plant. How are ya Feeding it ??? (id like to know that, iff that cool) And just another thing before a leave you with Compliments for the growing in general anyway,lol..... The Feeding, just Slightly looks like you need to SLIGHTLY back-off with the NITROGEN???!!!:icon_confused: (Not completely sure, but iff its the case, then Backing it off, will most sertainly HELP YA BIG TIME and they will start to FILL OUT Hugely!) Anyway, apart from that, nice plants man, n keep it up, Looking forward to the end result, UBB.......... otleaf: P.S, Its a sure sign when ya see all those leasves/foliage Twisting n Curling up, that there is going to be problems, most likely, whether Ph or Plain Over Ferting!) My 2 pence worth..lol
Thanks for checking in UBB. You are right about the nitrogen, tropical hazes don't like any nitrogen at all appearently. I'll be switching to the GH Flora bloom with tonight's watering, which should help. I checked the dates and the Thai Hazes have only been flowering for four weeks, so they have at least another 8 weeks to go. I'm going to need some patience.
From the looks of the bagseed buds, they could have gone quite a bit longer. I have one Thai x skunk and it is out growing my flower room and I have 8 weeks to go also.
A watched plant never ripens, or so it seems. I've gotta give you sativa growers credit.....I'd never have the patience to wait for them. They look like they're doing fine though! It'll be a nice Xmas present to yourself! :icon_santa: Keep up the good work, thinktank!
Neon- I'm sure the bagseed lady could have gone a few more weeks at least. I needed a stash, what can I say. The hash I've made from it is killer, and the buds give a nice sativa lift through the vape. Who knows how dope it could have been if it went a little longer?
F.B. Day 28/ Thunk Day 34 flowering Thanks for the kind words Mr. Nice Guy and Mr. Douglas. I finally got around to transplanting the Fast Blast's. A couple days later the males showed themselves. I tossed two last night and one today. I also tossed the two mutants leaving me with four females. I've decided the "seed starting soil" is a bust and I will just use rapid rooters and Coco from now on. I am still deciding what I want to crack next. I have some Afghan Kush from World of Seeds and a variety pack from Sagarmatha in the drawer, and Pure Hash Plant and Super Haze from CH9 on their way. Here's a group shot. The three in the back right corner hit the compost pile tonight. The Thunks are now taking the GH Flora Bloom 0-5-4 instead of the Monkey Juice Bloom B. They seem to like it and have gotten decently denser and frostier this past week. Here is the little one. Bushy. Tall and long. She is the frostiest.
4 flo fast blast/41 flo Thunk A lot of action this week. The Fast blast started flowering and look like they are happy. One of the Thunks looks like it is finishing early. Hairs turning, cloudy trichs, yellowing fan leaves. Very strange. The potency is not there yet so I'll let her go and see what happens. The other two look like they will be growing for awhile. Thanks for checking in. Any advice for Fungus Gnats? I was thinking of trying tobacco juice. I tried some Garden Safe pesticide but they bounce right back. I don't know how much damage they are doing. I don't *think* it is too bad.
I had the gnats for awhile. I added a top layer of perlite to the coco and it got rid of them for a while but they still come back every now and then.
New addition to the family World of Seeds Afghan Kush. Lots of smack is talked about WOS. I have no idea if it is credible. I felt kind of shitty, buying them impulsively one night while drinking. I set up a little make shift veg area and wanted to get something going to have something like a perpetual harvest. If I have a strong male in the AK batch I am going to mate it with the relatively huge Fast Blast and get and big batch of seeds to work with. It would be nice to mate the hypothetical Fastblast/ak (Automatic?) with a Ch9 Pure Hash Plant I recently acquired. I think there could be some awesome phenos to look out for. I'm not really interested in cloning, but if you stumble upon the dopest plant you have something like an obligation to save it and pass it on. Cannabis is such and interesting plant. It simply gives all of itself to us, and asks only that we grow it and love it and listen to the clear wisdom it can provide. I've worked with a number of other plants sort of psuedo shamanically, ayahuasca and cactus and mushrooms and things in that realm. Only since I have been smoking my own have I really been able to tune in to the spirit of the plant. Just learning to listen I guess you could say. Ate some Canna-oil smoothy that eventually led to huge purge. My goodness. Pure power. Very humbling. But no shame in any of it. I fucked up, took too much had to get it out of my system. It had long enough to absorb you are liable to get a contact high simply by reading this. Peace. Oh yeah, all ten germed in twenty four hours. One wasn't planted deep enough to take root before drying up. So that could have been my fault. Another two had problems breaking out of their shell. I performed surgery when I was convinced I had to intervene or else. I will be very happy if they make it. So far these look good. One of the questions people have about WOS is where their seeds actual come from, ie, were they really landraces. Also their claims about the plant are pretty unbelievable. 21% THC, 45-55 day flower, 400 grams per m2. If that were really the case everyone would be growing it commericially, It seems like not too many people have grown it period. They have already exceeded my expectations I am happy to report. I am going to put them into 12/12 when they are big enough to transplant and just get the ball rolling. I have some Super Haze from Ch9, Pure Hash Plant and The Sag Gardeners choice. Should be some sick weed in there. I want to germ something from the Sag pack soon but I want to hone my skills first. So I can give the plants the individual care they need. That's the downside to mixed bags I guess, but it is also a good growing challenge I think. Ramble Ramble. Later.
Fast Blast flo day 11, Afghan Kush 8 from seed, Thunk flo 48 When you got some weed to puff on, the world is alright. I'm sampling some of my early finishing Thunk. Very clear headed, and a pretty good body buzz as well. On to the report. I found some room in my tent so I decided to throw the Afghan Kushes into an early 12/12. Probably a good move since I just saw a grow where they stretched very inefficiently. I'm going to try doing a longer veg on the next seeds I pop, just for comparisons sake. I think I'm going to do 2 pure hash plants, 2 green bud, and 2 super hazes, from CH9. I get a good vibe from them. I bought a $50 ten pack of Green Bud (Ed Rosenthal SuperBud cross) and received 5 free super hazes (Mr. Nice Super Silver Haze cross). 15 feminized seeds from the breeder for $50 is a pretty dope price point. I'll veg them until there is room in the tent. It will be nice not having to guess how many ladies I will get in a batch. Like with these AK's, if I miraculously end up with 7 or 8 females I am going to need a bigger grow space, which would be a PITA, but I'm not about to complain about those sorts of problems. Please excuse the long windedness of this. I just completed my first week of 11pm to 7am employment and finally have a couple days off. It is 11:30 am offically where I'm at, but my internal clock is wired at 3:00am. My censors have been breached. On to the Fast Blast. The star attraction, so to speak. I guess there are a few different phenotypes going on as there are remarkable differences between the four plants. Here are a couple of views. The Thunks. I give them such individualized attention because they are the final fruits of my first grow and will be forever special to me for so many reasons. Here is the one I am puffing on right now. This is an F1 Hybrid. Is it totally inconceivable that the skunk cross was dominate in flowering, accounting for the early maturation? It feels much heavier than I thunk it would be. I actually received some Original Haze X Skunk 1 freebies with a recent order. I am saving them to cross out in the future. For now I am just getting growing down and trying to put a stash on the shelves. Female seeds being very convenient for this type of grow. A good stash will give me time to mess around with crosses and breeding around until I find something ideal, and other ideal smokes after that. That's the dream right? Here are the other two. They seem to be at the same maturation rate, maybe three or four weeks down the line or a lot sooner. The little one is in about a gallon of coco, accounting for her smallness. I actually have to prop her up to get her even with the canopy. Just one main cola with almost every branch growing into it. She is as so dense already, sick when the calyxes turn out. The wide one Peace Eternal.
