Ok, well my plan to start these asap. I have some killer seeds and have been very interested in getting this started. First off I'm going to try to put these in an old shower.(indoor) It's not used anymore and its in a nice location. The size isnt the best but I think I can fit about 6 or so in there. My questions are on the fallowing. What type of lighting system should I use? "I was thinking 100watt flo per plant, for when they are young. Then switch/add to HPS once they become stronger/older" What type of medium should I use? "I was thinking of useing a combination of 3 differant types of medium, maybe hydrocorn and something else." What type of fertalizer or growth enhancment should I use? "I was thinking of useing MiricleGro' and an amount of horse, or cow manure. I was even reading up on maybe useing a small amount of urine. I was even thinking of useing peter 20-20-20, what you think?" What is the best idea for an out-take? (I dont have much $$ to start with) "I was thinking of maybe makeing a few holes(light proof) and useing a small fan for an out-take" Should I use a huminifier? I have been reading up on it, and it seems a huminifier is so worth it. I've seen so many plants dry up. Will this help that? What is the cheapest way I could get good replection from the light onto my plants. Should I use white paint/paper? or should I use something cheaper and more effective? My goal is to grow some large plants with thick buds. I was wondering how long should I veg them befor a flower them? What would be the best time to do so? (i'm sorry if these questions have been answered in other places of this forum/site. If you could answer these questions for me I would be very grateful.)
All your questions have answers, but many people who know won't take the time to post them everytime someone asks. I suggest you think of specific topics and search the "Search" function at the top of this forum, read a grow book, browse topics and info via Google and use the "Growkind Chat" to network and get ideas quickly. You are asking the right questions...but you sound like you need to do some reading; ie: the Search function and Google.
High diablo and welcome to growkind. We have a great resource here called FAQ. There you will find many instructions/advice. But first-- There is Sooooo much more to getting big sticky buds that the answers to your questions. I suggest getting a grpw book. There are many available free on the web; do a search on mj cultivation. Anything by Ed rosenthal (the Ganja Guru) is top-notch. Spend a few enjoyable hours reading up on this amazing wonderful plant. Then go to FAQ and read specific subjects. You're going at it the right way, seeking infomation. Some people post things like "help I threw some seeds onto the ground and they're growing what do I do?" Knowledge is the key. Simply put, the more you know the more (and better) you'll grow. There are lots and lots of cool people here that will love to help you grow your own. Again, welcome.
diablo- 1000w hps = big buds. if you have a basic knowledge of plant growth, and read up on your grow books it takes about 2 months to veg and 2 months to flower. good luck
budz, don't you think a 1k light in a shower stall is overkill? The size of the light isn't what matters, it's the size of the light for the space lighted. Rule of thumb = 50 watts HPS per sq/ft.
Yo budzruz I know for a fact I dont need 1k hps light. My grow room is small enough so that all it needs is about 400-600 watts at most. Also I know that it takes longer than 2 months befor I should start flowering, and I know flowering takes longer than 2 months. I'm not that much of a newb. I've grown befor i'm just a little rusty on the basics. Ranger- Thx for the advice on the watts, should I still use flo's til they are stronger/older? Or just get HPS? Plus- Could someone help me with some of the other questions I had asked?.....please?
Hi Diablo... Fluros will be good for the early stages and should help you to keep a short internodal spacing. Switch to HPS for flowering. Depending on the size of your 'shower' you'd do well to look at a 400 or 600W lamp. Try these fluros out for size For" target="_blank">http://www.growell.co.uk/p....l For your meduim, i dont really know, im more of a soil/vermiculite/perlite person at the moment. I have heard that Miracle Gro is not the best you can use. You could try a few like Canna, B'Cuzz, Bio-Bizz, Metanaturals. Im sure there are more but i cant think of them right now. For your out take fan, if youre using a 400 or 600W lamp then you, at the very least, want to get a 4" fan. 5" will be better for a 600W though. I wouldnt know about the humidifier. Flat white paint is probably gonna be your cheapest shot at good reflection. An oscillating fan is also a good idea, and some timers.

I've grown befor i'm just a little rusty on the basics. hmmm..seems you know a quite a bit, too be sooo rusty on the basics... if your shower stall is 4'x4'= 16sq.ft...16sq/ft multiplied by 50wtt/p/sq/ft=900watts. (50w/ps/ft is minimum IMO) Most of the hybrid mj(sativa/indica) we see today will be mature to flower(alternate nodes) at 8-10 weeks tops, some as early as 6 weeks. a bath room grow sounds too good to be true!! More than likely you've already got a vent fan in there, you'll just need to "beef it up" so it'll move more air, maybe even get a blower attached to it and run some dryer vent. i wouldn't think you'd have to add humitity but i'm not too sure about that. set up an area under the sink for your clones, fit this area with floro's. i'd go for the 6oo hps if your gonna get an air cooled hood, if not get a 430 hps. ranger your right, a 1000w light is a tad overkill. i posted it as a joke sort of cause diablo wants the biggest juiciest buds possible. thats what a 1000w lights gonna do. personally i am using a 150w hps:LOL: and its working for me, hardly. a 600w hps in a bathtub is gonna knock socks off. kinda like what dunglovn just posted. btw, for ventilation what do you think about an outake w/ fan at the top of the chamber, with passive intake vent holes close to the floor. if you want to get extra crazy, in greenthumbs stealth cab thread he just built an aircooled hps light tube.

It is located in the basement. Ok well right now I am getting all the supplies. Pots(medium size with dranage), seeds (all I know is they are from amsterdam and I got ripped off of the bud), shower(will be getting measurements, lights(300-600 flo), 3 small fans, Medium(still dont know what I should use for that), M-GRO or peters 20-20-20. What am I missing?

For instance Diablo, you don't yet know what the best soil composition is. If your gonna start with the limited knowledge you now have, be prepared for disappointment and wasted $.
You see I have read a little. I would like to get a grow book, but I cant buy any at this moment. I've been searching for free ones on the net I could download. Or sites that have books in them. If you have any net-books I could look at, please give me the link.
