As I logged onto growkind(my cookies are fucked) I had a pop up banner come up promoting a 70% discount on electronics. Is that something the webmaster has done to help pay the bills? I was surprised to see it when it came up. At least it didn't ask me if I wanted to increase my package size 200%

How much you want to bet its adware and spyware? No I dont think the webmaster implemented ANY pop up advertisements. You need to get AD-AWARE or some kind of pest patrol or spy removal utility.
yeah no popups on this site. probably adware like agrow said. there are many flavors, gator, lop.com, hotbar, etc, etc. i use pestpatrol www.pestpatrol.com to filter and block spyware/adware. not sure if it is the best solution out there or not but it blocks the major stuff.
when I had Kazaa every time I opened a new page I would get pop-ups. deleted it because it contains a lot of ad, spyware so download kazaa lite!
another good proggie is Zone Alarm Pro. It's supposed to be a firewall program, and it works decent enough but it's got a great popup blocker. And I agree with Agro you need Ad-Aware. Just find all yer software at download.com. There are so many crap programs like Gator and Ezula that install behind the scenes when you install programs like Imesh and Kazaa or any program now a days. The only true way to rid yourself of them is get Ad Aware. The only problem I had is with Kazaa. Ad Aware will delete the popup prog that works with Kazaa but afterwards, Kazaa won't work right anymore. Either find Kazaa lite, or use Imesh (my personal choice) .. hope this helps ya. I don't believe it's this site because I've never gotten any popups here. And that's even before I had popup manager appz.
