Today I called in sick to work because I decided this moring, after hacking up a glob of tar nearly the size of a golfball, that I would quit ciggerette smoking. I have started the day with no pot cause I dont want to be burned out to early but I have been drinking kava tea to calm my nerves a bit. I am jsut siting down to a pile now and I admit I mixed about 1 cm worth of cig into about 2 grams of chopped pot. Just gonna smoke a few bongs here and there for now though, I will get ripped latter then go to sleep.

Anyhow wish me luck and if anyone else out there wants to join me in giving up the yucky weed feel free [IMG] Any advice is welcome to, I know to drink water and smoke pot to lower the craving without putting in more nicotine in.

Bro I'm happy that you decided to quit smoking cigs , but your not helping your situation by throwing in some tabacco in your ganga. [IMG]

If your serious about quitting , then quit

    TOTALLY !!!!

The hardest part of quitting cigs is having a pack(or tobacco)sitting there in front of your face(did that make sence [IMG])Throw that **** away Bro, rid your pad of all tobacco related material, Find something else to do ....

    Working

    Hiking

    Biking

    Ect, ect .......

If you keep yourself busy you won't even notice you quit , if that don't work , buy some patches they work very well ..

Support plays a major issue . Tell your freinds around you what your doing for support. Support does AMASING things for people.....

I wish you luck on quitting ....... you won't regret it ;)

.....stay cool & keep :animbong:   DNC

Clean your teeth often, like an obsessive compulsive, and drink plenty of water, soon youll like that clean mouth feeling more than the furry growth living on your tongue.

    Well it worked for me.

Me dear old mum used the patches to quit - they worked for her...as long as you truly want to quit, you will - no problem...I had another friend who quit by giving her cigs to her boyfriend who was like her cigarette banker in a way - he would hand her out a prescribed amount per day, and make all the purchases too, and it would get less and less as time went on...that seemed to work for her...

I studied Smoking Cessation in Health psychology a few semesters ago - one thing to be aware of is that the smoking urge can come on months after you have totally quit smoking, or years even (something chemical on the brain...neural pathways based on years of habit)- you have to inure yourself to this...some people give up - they think they can never get rid of that internal dissonance - so you have to change your attitude to one of acceptance of whatever internal dissonance that comes along and dont think that everything is going to be fine and dandy if you make it through just two weeks of abstinence (although for some it will be)...you have to keep fighting and be firm in your resolve and then its no big deal....its funny, but an incredibly large percentage of smokers would take up smoking again a few months after total abstinence - studies showed that they thought basically that they would be able to let their guard down after a while (guard meaning a strong inner resolve to not smoke) so when you quit - keep a strong inner resolve and also - avoid those situations and environments which activate smoking desires - for example, if you commonly go out and sit down on the front porch and thats where you do a lot of your smoking, dont sit down on your front porch anymore for along while - you have to break assocaition patterns regarding places, times, people etc...mix things up a bit - make new patterns that dont resemble the old ones so your brain doesn't associate those new patterns with smoking spots...if you usually go hang out with your buds during break at work and everyone smokes - dont hang out with them on break anymore - tell them why and find something else to do with your time....also they have proven that there is a higher correlation between those who take up an exercise program at the time they quit smoking vs. those who dont exercise at all when trying to quit smoking....it didnt make much of a difference though if you already had a regular exericse program and smoked....

Just in case you didnt know cannabis has 2-3 times as much tar and also more carbon monoxide than cigarretes do....so another way to smoke healthier is to use a vaporizer instead with a really good filtration system..

good luck, gardener! i agree with Ham...if you really want to quit, you can do it. most all of us have been in your shoes right now, so let us know when you need our support.

perhaps it would help to find something to keep your hands busy. like paint a room or a piece of furniture? work a jigsaw puzzle?

and brushing your teeth often is a great idea! good luck to you!

Best of luck G, this one of the best decisions you will ever make in your lifetime.Your lungs are telling you its time.Stay focused and dont give up on yourself for falling off the wagon the key is to get right back on.It may be hard or relatively easy depending on how addicted you are and the methods of quitting used.

My wife has had excellent results with the patch (Nicoderm CQ)...We tried the cigarette rationing method but it made her resent my control over her habit, this doesnt mean it wont work for you though. If one method doesnt work try another, dont give up until youve exhausted them all.And then try again.Imagine yourself as a non-smoker as often as possible.A healthy diet and cleanse cant hurt either.

Years ago I worked for a medical company delivering oxygen to customers suffering from various lung diseases (ALL of them ex-smokers) .There is nothing like watching a 42 year old man with emphysema struggle for 20 minutes in order to walk from his couch to his refrigerator a mere ten feet away, all the while needing large amounts of bottled oxygen to do so_Or helping a 44 year old woman unable to leave her wheelchair or breath without assistance because of lung cancer. The list goes on and on.Its eye opening memories like these that remind me everyday of why cigarettes are nothing but legal poison...Stay strong brother and never give up your life depends on it.
