Hey I got this email and it was about how those that support the Marijauna reform laws in Nevada. I can't remeber the name of the group, I am high as hash right now! I ran across this cat who had some blazing hash. Nice! but anyway it led me to this site saying they were taking donations for a comerical ad campaign that they are running in the whole state, advertising the benefits to decriminalizing and even legalizing MJ. Under Question 9, they plan to run these ads until the vote and had like 107,000 bucks spent it all on running the ads thru the month of Aug and Sept now they are in need of donations so visit www.nrle.org. We all know how T.V. plays a big part in alot of peoples lives. I think this will mark a big moment in our plight to decriminalize and legalizing our sacred herb. if they keep on drilling with people with facts. The opposing forces don't even have the support to even come up with the money to advertise why MJ should be illegal. www.nrle.org/ I apologize if this is half ass right now, but I just got stoned and felt like I needed to inform heads about whats current! Peace and Porn.... lol www.nrle.org/
You are wrong about the opposition Pauly. The head of the DEA stated that they will spend 1 BILLION dollars (our tax money)over the next 10 years on advertising. I have seen the ads already on TV. Set to a nursery rhyme theme. It is the biggest load of crap I have ever seen, but they don't need to tell the truth...only get people to believe the lie.
Damn sorry for the misinformation, I think if I am not mistaken int he email it said that the people of Nevada who opposed it or somehthing along those lines...I can't remeber to clearly I feel like the fucking govt now!!!lol HERB Still aside from that I still feel MJ supporters should make an attempt to keep the postive ads running. Get the truth out to the masses, everyone should know that govts are liars!!!!
I listened to an interview of the guy running that website and leading the charge in Nevada. Got the lowdown on the hodown. He was asking for donations on the show to help fight against this advertising by the Gov. What we also need to know is that the Gov is using OUR tax money to fly many people out to Nevada to fight this measure. Nothing like good ol' money of ours being wasted on an unfair law. I am pissed! Only good thing is that if this passes now and in 2004 it will be an amendment to the state's constitution and that outweighs Federal law! LMAO!
Sparky, federal law still prevails, it would take an admendment to the US constitution to over ride federal law. Or, the congress could abolish the law. Now for the good stuff... There is a new commercial running on tv here, it goes like this... A camera focuses in on two scruffy looking dudes sitting against a dumpster in a nasty looking alley. As it moves in for a close up, you can see both guys are filthy and look like they stink to high heaven. The camera goes in for a tight focus on a dope needle hanging in one dudes arm, with a little trickle of blood running down... You hear the other guy saying "WAKE UP!" and you see him push the guy with the needle in his arm, who falls over like he's dead. The scene goes black, and big white letters appear "This is how it ends", then a pic of a joint and the words "THIS IS HOW IT BEGAN" followed by "VOTE NO ON 9"
According to this guy the State constitution stands outside federal law therefore fed law has no jurisdiction over it. I am only passing the info....personally I am not sure, but it makes sense. States do have the means to be independant of federal law and the State Constitution would be the only means of that.
Not to say what you are saying is wrong HS, but what i learned was that if states had this power there would be no point in even having a govt. i mean think about it, STATE laws that over rule FEDERAL laws, i dont think so... i was always taught that a Bill must go thru a rigorous set of screenings before it can pass as a law, it must gain the public vote, then once it is passed thru congress, and it is not veto'd by the president, then it becomes a law, and can be added to the Constitution. i maybe a little rusty, 9 grade civics is not comming in too clear nah mean! haha anyways, thats my 2 cents! thanks all RastaFariLove (Edited by RasTafariLOVE at 8:06 pm on Sep. 23, 2002)
I think we would all benifit from the school house rock episode where its talking about a lonely bill on capital hill.
As I said I am not completely sure of this, but here is an interesting Q&A... Q-Isn't it misleading to say that this initiative will protect people from arrest, when the feds can still arrest people for marijuana under federal law? A-Current federal law enforcement practices and the comments of Drug Czar John Walters support the fact that the passage of Question 9 will not prompt a federal crackdown. That's not our intent ... People have the right to make their own decisions. ... I don't believe you'd see federal officials coming into [Nevada] to enforce possession laws. 7/25/02: Las Vegas Review-Journal "Marijuana law change would not prompt federal crackdown." full story In addition, Walters acknowledged that the federal government would have to listen to will of the voters. Host Neal Conan: And if the public opinion--right now, I think the majority of the American public opinion is opposed to decriminalization or legalization of marijuana. I think that's a fair thing to say. If that changed, if over time, you got situations like Nevada and these other states, more and more passing these laws, would that change your mind? How would that affect policy? Drug Czar John Walters: Well, I think we are a government based on consent of the governed, so it will change the law if there's a considerable change in public opinion. 8/14/02: National Public Radio's Talk of the Nation Walters comments would support the feds current practice. According to the FBI and the U.S. Sentencing Commission, 99% of all marijuana arrests in the U.S. are made by state and local police under state law. Furthermore, the U.S. Attorney's office in Nevada reports that -- of the 1% of marijuana arrests that actually are made by the feds under federal law -- the federal arrests are not for simple possession, but rather for larger-scale distribution and/or cultivation and/or importation. Drug Czar John Walters: The initiative covers possession amounts that are quite small. Usually, there's no federal enforcement of possession amounts at that level, especially for marijuana. So I doubt there'd be any change in current federal practice. This is largely a local law enforcement matter at these quantities. 8/14/02: National Public Radio's Talk of the Nation Hence, passing this voter initiative in Nevada will have the effect of protecting people who use or possess personal-use quantities of marijuana from arrest.
Until the Philosophy which hold one race superior and another, INFERIOR. Is finally, and permanently, discredited and abandoned, everywhere is WAR, me say WAR. and until there no longer first class and second class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes, me say WAR. and until the basic human rights are equally garunteed to all, with out regard to race, me say WAR, and until that day, the dream of lasting peace, WHAAAOOO, citizenship, and the rule of international morality, shall remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained, EVERYWHERE IS WAR. WAR......And until ignoble, and unhappy regime that hold our brothers in ANGOLA, South Africa, suffer human bondage, have been toppled yea... Totally destroyed... EVERYWHERE IS WAR!! ME SAY WAR!! WAR IN THE EAST!! WAR IN THE WEST!!WAR UP NORTH!! WAR DOWN SOUTH!! and until that day, the african continent, will not know peace, we Africans will fight we find it neccessary, and we know we shall win, as we are confident, in the victory, of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil. -BOB MARLEY Just a little inspriation for you all! RasTafariLOVE
You say WAR! Me say BULLSHIT! If you ain't ever been in a war, you don't know what you're talking about. Besides, war isn't about race, freedom, or any of that other propaganda ****. War is about greed, money, and power. You talk about Africa? Africa is much changed since Bob Marley's day. Now the africans don't have anybody but themselves holding them prisoner, but the wars continue, warlords, dictators, money grabbing assholes, anybody who can stir up a mob.
GEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ!!!! you dot have to rip my head off!! i just put that for inspiration!! what the hell is everyone sooooooo angry about! i thought us MJheads were peaceful! you guys only want to downsize the opinions of others and make us feel bad, even though all im tryna do is spread some PEACE and UNDERSTANDING!! WHY ALL THE WAR!!!!! LEAVE I and I alone! we no want no more WAR! MY intentions were totally pure, and you say that because i've never been in war before i dont know what im talking about, but im not the one who said that. the man who said those immortal words stuck a flower in the barrel of a gun that was pointed in his face. MAYBE you know his name, but maybe you dont his name was Ras Tafari! he stopped numerous wars with his presence alone! so dont tell me i dont know what im talkin about, tell him!! and maybe next time you should understand where your comming from before you open your mouth! RasTafariLOVE thanks you guys!
