You might want to read up on the mylar.... My reading shows that flat white paint has better reflective abilities than mylar and is much easier to deal with. Just a thought.

you should jog em tie em down parallel to the soil...then you could grow even mor than 6 plants in that space.

well the ak48 has a 8 week flower cycle so i am going to cut clones once i get a mother plant going and then i am going to put 9 clones in and flower soon as i put them in . How long do seeds stay usable ? im thinking if i get any males i might let them polinate the mother after i get the clones of her .

Chief: Looks like you are correct! I fished around on Goog for awhile and found this stuff. Looks like the unofficial winner is FOYLON.

    Black Less than 10%

    Aluminium Foil 55-70%

    Semi-gloss White Paint 60-70%

    White*/ Black*/ White Film 70-85%

    Flat White Paint 75-80%

    Polystyrene Foam Sheeting75-85%

    Mylar Sheeting 90-92%

    http://www.1-hydroponics.co.uk/web/manual/light/index.html

    Mylar 90-95

    Flat white paint 85-93

    Semi-gloss white 75-80

    Flat yellow 70-80

    Aluminum foil 70-75

    http://www.thekrib.com/Lights/reflectors.html#0

Aluminum foil is actually a very poor reflector, highly heat conductive and very dangerous to use in a grow room. Aluminum foil only has 30 to 60 percent reflectivity at best, raises the temperature of the item it is used on (the reflector, pot lid, electrical cord, wall etc.), and can burn easily. Avoid using aluminum foil. It is also hard to keep clean and tears easily.

A cheap can of flat white paint that will give you almost 99 percent reflectivity for a couple of years.

White-colored material is best for reflecting light: not shiny, glossy white, just plain matte white. A white wall will reflect more light than a mirror or foil. Many growers paint the walls of their grow space white. Others line their grow areas with Mylar: a substance that looks like a thick tinfoil sheet. Mylar is, in fact, very popular in cannabis grow rooms

    http://www.marijuanahydro.com/growingindoors.html

Walls can easily be painted with flat white paint, which is an excellent reflector.*

The best reflective material of all is the space age material MYLAR which is like a flexible mirror and can reflect 92% of light back on to the plants

Contrary to popular belief, Aluminium foil does not provide a good reflective surface even when it is flat

    http://www.light-site.co.uk/lighting.html

Mylar is another option. It reflects light with up to 95% efficiency, but is brittle, easy to tear and hard to clean.

Aluma-Glo reflects with about 94% efficiency

The king of reflective materials is a product called Foylon with 97% reflectivity,

i've only got the 400 and that gets a bit warm at times. I wouldn't even like to try with a 600 in mine but you have alot more vertical space then i do so you might be ok. I only have about 500mm from the glass to the top of the flood table

Im starting to get a little paranoid about the seeds now , my bro came around this arvo and said he was watching a kiwi customs show and they found seeds and said they get handed to authoritys that will leed to arrests .

Do you think if i get done growing 4 plants and importing 10 seeds the charges would be high ? would the seed charge be worse because they were imported ?

I had no choice but to get them sent to the same address as my grow so im thinking about ripping out the 4 plants i got just incase . If i put some tomatos in there and got done with the seeds can they take my growing gear ?

hey bongpig thats a good set up you got going , nice pics got me really thinking about putting a screen in now . How long did you veg for and did you tie the branches to the mesh or just feed the branhes into the right spot ?

  15. bongpig

    bongpig Veggy Stage

    Sorry man been busy :)

Those plants were vegged for about 15 weeks. I had alot of shit going on and wasn't able to look after them properly, almost killed them twice....it was a nightmare. It normally only takes a couple of weeks after rooting before i can switch them to 12/12.

I try to feed the plants under the screen but sometimes when i don't check them for a few days the branches have grown too stiff to bend enough to go under the screen so i do tie some, but thats too much work

It is an awesome setup if I do say so myself. It basically runs itself now its all dialed in. I only spend about ½ an hour a week tending to my plants....that includes a water change. :D Temps hang around 4c above ambient temps, and i have a/c for the hot days.

When i build my next cabinet all i will change is the fuckups i made on this one :)

sweet , i have got my box running some temp tests and i tested out the tray today , i have to put some silicone under the washer for the over flow pipe and i am not happy with the amont of water left in the tray after it empties i am going to counter sink the flood fitting so the tray totaly drys atm there is about 3mm of water left in there . Its pretty good for light leeks , the bit that does get out will be stoped when i get the foam tape to put around the frame where the door closes onto . The only other thing i have to get is a better water pump the one i have is not fast or strong enough for the amount of water it has to pump (about 40litres) . I started a new garden with all the pics so far and there is a couple of shots of the test plants too .

Looks all good...have you got a/c?? You'll need it in summer :)

Also watch that foam stuff. If your door isn't hinged right it can be a real pain in the arse.

Its hard to see in your photos but it looks like your door is just a piece of ply. If it is just make up a frame to attach to the inside of the door just in from the edge a bit so when the door is closed the frame will protrude into your cabinet a little. If done right will be very light tight

  19. ilove2tokes

    ilove2tokes Begun Flowering

that sounds like a good idea ill do that if the foam dosnt work and no i dont have a/c but if it gets to hot i will add another exhaust fan to my box and maybe a couple of bathroom stye fans to the shed .
