hey everybody. i have about 10 seeds germinating and am going on 50/50 chances of getting male/females. if i got 5 females, should i clone them? i have never even heard of cloning being done outdoors, is it possible? would i have to put some kind of obvious-looking (for outdoors) moisture dome on them lol? i want to get as many as possible if i had 5 females i want at least a cut from each for 10. and if cloning can not be done outdoors, with at about 5 plants, is it realistic for me to expect say.. a QP or a HP even? here in FL where they are growing sunlight is most baking lol so i think they will get really good light, and isn't this a little early to be planting for outdoor growing? if i harvested in aug/sept wouldnt they have a really nice long vegging time and have a good final yield?

your not going to want to pick based on the month, but by the ripeness of the buds. Very few strains are ready at the end of august/beginning of sept. Mostly its october, and into november/dec for sativas. Down in florida you should be ok, but its going to be a long wait. about the cloning, couldn't you just take some cuttings and root them at home under lights? Take em before the plants in the field are sexed and then you can eliminate the males out in the field. maybe take a male cutting and a female cutting and let them hump so you can make new seeds, instead of depending on seedbanks or bag seed. If you got those seeds sprouted and in the ground in the next couple weeks and they got a full season of vegetative growth, good nutrients, water, sun, and full bloom period; your looking at a very healthy harvest. I'd venture to guess that a half lb would be on the small side of a harvest estimate. Big outdoor plants given a full season can produce a lb and more if treated right
yeah i was just estimating mostly. but no, i can't take them inside my house- i have other people living here that don't know about my MJ usage/growing. so i guess that means clones can't be done outdoors then? big downer... now i gotta depend on what females i get. =[.
it doesnt mean it can't be done. Its just alot easier to do it outside. Some strains root as clones very easily, while others are a pain in the ass. Just try a few and see what happens. you could plant them and make a humidity dome out of a 2-litre pop bottle with the top cut off and holes poked in the bottom. Use a little rooting hormone and cross your fingers. no use in getting bummed before you try.
do you mean easier done inside? lol yea i am going to give it a shot. when they get big enough and i can clone them (after i wreck the males and do something with them lol) i will try 1 or 2, maybe 3- to see if it will actually work. thanks for helping me out as you can- since you are the only one! thx, appreciated has nobody else ever tried or thought of cloning outdoors? all comments welcome.
OD cloneing simply requires slightly different methods. Do a "google" on air layering...see what ya think..
Slow down... They're just now germinating and you're talking about which ones are male and female and cloning... You're a long way off, man. By the time they get to cloning height, they might be dead or cut or pissed on by a stray dog or taken or any other number of possible scenarios. After they're alright and they've been vegging a few weeks, then talk about cloning them. If you plant them now, it's going to be fairly obvious by October that it's marijuana. You're going to have fucking TREES if your soil is good and the conditions are right. I just think they're going to be too huge if they're grown right for someone not to notice them. All the trees will have lost their greens and in the middle of that... a big fat budding marijuana tree? You need a better place to grow, man.
i would never clone outside. clones take up virtualy no room and have very small light and food requirments. with that in mind , know you can easily hide a flat of clones inside your house. noone
very true... But maybe thats the only option for having clones outdoors..It can be done as I have done.. Although I wouldn't recomend it.. Those little fuckers can take all types of abuse..I have tried many many different methods. You can just take a cut a the node throw it in a glass of water and the cuttting will root..Its really amazing on how much abuse these plants can take..
Make a clone space in a nightstand or something, drill a hole in the back to hide the power cord go to your local nusery and get a small humidity dome and pick up a small flo..... cuttings... jiffy waffers(not great but they worked for me) rooting hormone....done! Edit here's mine about 2 weeks ago. the bootom leaves always fall off but they are growing great guns! /monthly_2006_04/57a6c8dac2f59_garden016.jpg.5b7185406a2ad59079581d868920f70e.jpg
thanks for the replies and suggestions guys and i have never said anything of where my outside grow was located, so how can you say i need a better spot? in the middle of some gigantic woods where it gets great sunlight and is in a hole that was dug out and filled with good soil wont work for them? and it is fine with me if they get gigantic. im kinda hoping i can get them as big as possible for max amount on one plant, since im not going to be growing many, (and im not sure about these clones yet) i want biggens! [if cloning is successful i might keep plants short and incognito by jogging them] and about all this doing it at my house stuff- i know it would be best and easiest. but there is absolutely no way i can bring anything MJ related into my house at all, unless its just some bagged in my pocket or something. but thats right i am thinking too far ahead. i will plant them and watch them and when the time arrives where i can actually take action- i will try and inform yall about the process and how it goes.
