Seedlings and Nutes.

Now, I know alot of people (almost everyone) do not feed nutes early on in the plants life ...either 3 weeks or until the cotelydons fall off. Now I was wondering, what differences do you notice from nutes from seed to nutein later on? in my opinion, I notice slower growth if the plant isn't nuted, and it makes sense, since in the wild when plants grow in soil, they have access to nutrients by way of root from sprout. The only problem I can think of that could arise is by adding too much of nutes, and overfeeding/killing your new sprouts. that is the only valid reason of why not to feed soo early on. I myself feed with 1/8-1/4 nute strength as soon as they are taken out of the rockwool and put into the hydroton. I have never had any problems with overfeeding. Even the smallest amount should be beneficial to your plants. even just a couple of drops. now in soil, most have some form of nutrition in them already when you buy them, so I can clearly see why soil growers wouldn't give nutrients in the beginning. but in any other soil-less method, I can clearly see why you SHOULD nute from beginning to end, since there is no other form of nutrition available except what is put in the water(besides what the plant has stored).

Hmm personally plastik i dont EVER give my seedlings nutes early on, i kinda treat them like clones almost and just water till they look strong enough and have a good root system in place before i start using nutes and i defo would NEVER EVER use chemical nutes so early on(i only use organics all the way)but if you have enough seeds to spare and its summit you want to experiment with then fair enough but im much too cautious at the early stages to use nutes

I know a mate who did it and his plants looked a bit mutated and he thought they were males or that the stress had turned them all hermi so he got rid of them all and i asked him for one and it ended up blossoming into a wonderful blueberry plant(femme) but cos the plants looked so messed up he couldnt tell (the weird thing is we were told when we got the seeds they were feminised, lol,i couldnt believe he was giving them away just cos they looked mutated) but if you do try it defo go with what mikey said and use organics.Good luck

I wait till they fall off. Sometimes even upto 1 month. But go ahead see what happens to them. I started a few new seeds 3 weeks ago never feed anything but organic. I would wait atleast 2 more month before I would thank about putting in cemi type nuts. Later yall and happy blazzen by the beach,,

    considering soil seedlings.....

if you have good soil theres no need to feed when there a seedling. seedlings can only use so much nutes when their young....if you have a good mix, theres NO need to feed for WEEKS.

why risk stunting thier growth for no reason?

    If you wanna...

If you're dying to feed your seedlings, the optimal ratio for macros would be: 15-10-7.5 . Generally though, if you get half-way decent soil, you shouldn't need to feed during this stage of growth.

but Mr Plastik is talking about soil-less growing. and i agree with him that in hydro, mild nutes are needed right from the get-go. :punk:

yup smarmy my man ! it IS about that and u and mary and mr plk there are right....so whats the problem?

i cant put my 2 cent on soil seedlings to make a point?

*if i didnt agree.... i would make a post and say - i disagree ;) then give my reasoning. not here to set anyones toes on fire.*

Of course you can, I just wanted to point out that with hydro there are diffrent requirments for seedlings and that there is no confusion between the the method he was talking about. PEACE!

i realise now your doing it hydro style....... but generaly in soil i notice that most ppl who use nutes ,especially the damn miracle grow kinds nevermind organics, etc when they only got days old seedling or younger they start to go yellow from the stem up or simply just die..but i see your in a different ballpark from me,i thought you were talking soil.Peace

I agree with the nutes early in hydro-- I go 1/4 strenghth until taking off, then up the EC to 1200 and continue through veg.

In soil only feed if signs of deficiency...

Obviousely ma man that there will be NOT as much grow without nutes than with them.....

But one needs to let the baby PLANT get to reasonable size n root ball size before, (using just water of course!) adding your nutrients of whatever kind!!!

This is basic knowledge my friend!!!!

The Poor things will have a HARD life or just plain..."DIE", iff feeding them too much or too soon!!!!(of whatever!!!)

Keep it water for at least two weeks!!!(from seed anyway!!! mos def!)

    They will just BURN-UP!!!

    Peace n Respect,

    UrBigBuddie..........:punk: :sign13: :punk:

you gotta start out with really mild nutes srtaight from day one when the seed first pops out of the media i like to use a real mild solution like 1/4 or even 1/8 strength if you don't the plants on a hydro system woll get deficency spots on the leaves before te first leaf is full sized so you need to fertilze from day one in a hydro system

isnt this classic everyone that grow pot if you go lukewarm on everything .like giveing pot nutrients go inbetweenthe maximum and min and you will bee ok its better to leave it alone and be safe .i ve never grown bullshit. even with bunk mexicancseeds. plants grew up along the edge of my back pourch .from throwing seeds on the ground still can selll it for 50 an 8th. so if u got a seedling in soil if u go weak on the nuts it wont hurt it just dont go to the limits on anythingand you will grow good dope .hydro noshit give it something use your head. it seems like alot of people on this site ask alot of ?s they already knowsome . you guys make us look bad are you that stupid. whats so hard . why is this rookie on the advanced threads.rookie wrong Forum
