Are they supposed to sink?

I just put some seeds in water and they sank to the bottom is that normal?

Should I take them out and plant them in the soil?

    Thanks

the floaters sinkers thing is a myth

let them sit for 24 hours then pick them out and see if they crack it will be on that line kinda thing that the seed has down one side it will start to open then pop em in soil other wise keep em en the water check em often and remember to keep kinda warm like 75 or so it will speed things up

i wouldn't let them sit for 24 hours if they sank immediately.. i think the question you should be asking yourself is if the seeds all of them were inspected, and made damn sure they were viable before putting them into the water.

IF you did inspect each of them carefully and it's not that than leave them for 12 hours and plant them directly into the medium. the sinking floating myth is just that ..... a myth..

Normally viable seeds will float for a few hours when you first put them in until the hull cracks, then they sink to the bottom usually within 12-24 hours..heck i just don't leave em 24 hours cause it can cause problems with the seeds if bacteria gets in there.

True or False. That I am still not sure. I will never pre soak my seeds in water again. Try using rockwool for hydro only or jiffy #7's for soil grows. That is about all I can say on that topic. Cause I am almost to stoned to know what I am tipeing right now. HAHA Later master bater

naw, the floater thing's bullshit. usually the ones that don't sink in a day are hollow or holding air. which ment they're not good any way. but a little squeeze will verify that for you. it they mash they weren't worth shit.

Well take the info or leave it guys.. i am just telling you guys what's up cause this method has never failed me. since i started using it. Viable seeds will float until the hull splits, then it will fill with water and sink...that's just how it is.That's why i asked him if he inspected each seed, cause if they were cracked, or crushed or maybe hollow that would explain why they dropped to the bottom so quickly.

Yeah but mikey remember when i germed the seeds that both floated and sank and all of them germed, so the sinkers are viable. That is unless you saying they sank immediately so he failed to notice a crack in the hull which could water log and then never produce a sprout since more than they will just decompose. I don't know whatever i know you know your shit just as good as me just trying to clarify, goldschlager got my head a little spun!

I've had both floaters and sinkers germinate, so I don't think it really matters. They usually sink afte a whilke anyway.

yes I am saying that the hull had to be compromised in some way to sink to the bottom. As seed hulls that arent' opened yet or hollow will float like a boat due to the little bit of oxygen that is trapped in the seed hull, and it's water tight. When the water enters the seed hull the seed no longer floats but sinks to the bottom.. due to the loss of the air tightness..just like a boat....

doesn't mean the seeds aren't viable when they sink but just means that the shell could be compromised in some way..

I always try to inspect each seed with my pockey micro. to make damn sure they are viable. it's time consuming but hey when you are stoned it fly's by.... ;)

Well you might want to germ more than 2 seeds! It wouldn't be the smartest thing for ya to just assume you will get one male and one female, you will probably get more males. I always start off with 2-3x more than what i expect to keep that way i can get the females i need and maybe even have a few extra to choose from.

Alright, but you still might want to do more than 2, unless your going to give them hella veg time and do some extreme training.
