I see people that use it for their whole grow and some use organic for their whole grow! I also would like to know will any organic soil do the job or does it have to be FOX FARMS?
slow release inorganic nutes. bad! anything organic is fine, mushrtoom compost cow compost worm casting compost from a compost pile....etc. all work well
it works great till you get to flower then comes the N burn!..and there's nothing you can do to stop it...nothing..this subject has been well discussed on here
I had the big N burn during veg stage using tap water and miracle grow. this subject has been discussed alot, but not alot about what exactly makes it bad. I want to here from Dazechain and Herbsparky about the big conspiracy on why the MG company makes a product that all growers can't use. :eusa_think:
I have never used MG soil so can't speak for that, But used MG BloomBuster for several years and had great fk'n buds from it....also did a lot of foilar feeding with it
Ok the real reason has to do with like TOA said slow release, they are chemical ferts and foxfarms is a part synthetic chemical fert not a tru organic. The reason MG suck is its time release the molecules are formed to break down with a certain half life in the prescence of water plain an simple. So no matter how much water you add at one time to flush it will never remove the time released ferts so you will run into problems with the wrong nutes being present at the wrong time. Also, the level of fertilizer contained since it is chemical it can readily be taken up by the plants roots and loaded into the phloem for transportation. Now with organic nutes the plant can't absorb them due to the fertilizing compounds being covalently attached to hydrocarbons which can't be trasfered across the roots membrane. The Organic matter has to be broken down by micro-organism, mainly detrivores and other microbial organisms, they break down these organic matter into ions or inorganic matter which can readily be used by the plants. since the plant can only absorb the nutrients as fast as the micro-organisms in the soil can convert it, it is much harder to burn you plants instead of like when you use chemical ferts they are already in the correct state (ions) that it can be taken up by the plants root system. There you go there's your answer.
What? I don't know what you would be confused about that all pretty straight forward and no mechanisms explored cause that would get too confusing for most everyone on here. If you don't understand some of the stuff because of the terms i suggest you hit up an online refrence like a search engine or online encyclopedia.
:evil4: Hey man my hair is blue so does that make me bad!:laughing5: but seriously it really is! Its just funny cause when people meet me with crazy long blue hair they think i'm some punkass that doesn't know anything, but thats just impression. Although to me first impressions are nothing until you begin to speak! man i need to quit drinking as soon as i quit working, it results in pointless mindnumbing giberish as you are experiencing now and more than like in the future aswell.:angel8: :laughing5: :5headache: Oh and duffman thanks! Atleast I know someone else out there understood that shit. Some people just to see that understanding how things function help you understand problems and how to maximize, but hey thats there lose and not ours right!
No prob Skunk, Of course I understand it, I went to school for this stuff, it doesnt say Horticultural Technician under my name because it sounds cool, botany is one of many things I had to learn. If you want to speed up the breakdown of hydrocarbons in organic ferrts to be taken in by the plants there is a product called Pirhana Fungi witch is a cocktail of fungi that have a symbiotic relationship with the plant. The fungi attach to the roots and break down the fert so it can readily be taken up by the plant, it also helps creat a much bigger rootball. Bo blue sh#t for my babies.
As far as your question on soil goes.............I drove over three hours to get bags of fox farms ocean forest soil and after seeing the results I would drive longer than that to get it again. The shit kicks ass, plain and simple. You get what you pay for and you get out of it what you put into it.
coming in a little late on this thread, but man is everyone right. I used MG Soil two grows back and it really messed with my plants. I had burn from the get-go, and the ph was always off. Then I switched to black gold which is some damn fine soil. Don't use MG soil, we're all telling you from experience that it is not a good soil to grow MJ.
I have heard a lot of good things on the black gold soil. Never used it but it sounds like it rates right up there with ocean forest.
Well, I'm actually going to get some ocean forest for my next grow, so I'll see for my own eyes which is better.
