My biggest plants' leaves are yellowing towards the top of the plant. Im 25 days into flower, and I'm positive its a N deficiency. I prolly havent been giving them as much food as they can handle because I dont have a ph meter so its all been eyed. I cant say what I have been feeding them atm because I got to leave for work and dont have time to get my notebook anyways the nutes I have on hand are foxfarms grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom. So what should I do? In ed rosenthals indoor high yield guide he says human urine has N immediately available to the plants just dilute 1 cup of urine to a gal of water? :/ Just thought I'd get some good advice before I go pissing on shit.
Do not piss on your plants. Is it yellowing from the bottom leaves up? or starting from the top. without knowing your ph it's hard to diagnose and fix your problem

Since your plant is yellowing on the top, it is probably too close to the light. If it were a Nitrogen Def., it would start yellowing on the bottom leaves first. But, as Smarmy says, check your PH first. Edit: Just noticed that you don't have a PH meter. I strongly recommend getting one. It is the most important tool to have to diagnose problems in your plants.

He didnt say piss on them directly.. anyways it is statring from the top... the light has been about 17 inches away from the top.. and its only 1 plant that shows this sign and happens to be but the one with the biggest buds. But other than that she looks good.
If it starts at the top then it isn't N deff. sounds like an iron or zinc deff. which are probably locked out cuz your ph is too high

Ed Rosenthal gave that advice because it is correct. From what i can remember, urine is full of 'Urea' which is currently one of the most commonly used commercial fertilizer....just about every crop farmer will have bags of the shit laying around (all the farmers i know do). If you do some searching outside of MJ growing forums on urine you will find that it isn't uncommon to use urine as a fertilizer. It does have to be diluted as your urine is very concentrated. The reason most growers (that know how good urine is) don't use urine for growing MJ is because it is very inconsitant.....the composition of your urine today is different from the composition yesterday (unless you have a very, very strict diet) and as such you are unable to accurately tell what your giving your plants...thats fine if you just want it to survive, but its not fine if you want maximum yield (which most MJ growers want). Personally i will never use urine as long as nutes are cheap and plentiful, but if that was to ever change I know i could still grow my plants as long as I'm still pissing
yeah iv just realised this BP,thanks for the feedback though mucker.. aye ano Bongpig,cos i done some research on it cos i was confused cos all these forums online and growers guides tell ya that urinating in your medium is NOT god and a growers myth... but iv read lots of Ed Rosenthal stuff and regard his growing skills/knowledge among the best around and thats why i was surprised cos we always get it drummed into us its a myth bout urinating but upon advice given and research i found what was said to be correct,it is a DILUTED version not pure urine that goes into the soil and i understand the effects of this. So for the past week I have had the lights further away from my bb and all the new growth is a healthy green again..for some reason I just thought it was a N deff. but I guess not, it could be ph, but lots not talk about that since I dont have a ph meter. Lets just hope for the best the widows are doing great, my one blueberry is startin to show crystals on the leaves finally but my other bb which is a week or 3 younger than my other bb is showing signs of a P deff maybe.. some of the leaves' veins are red but not all of the veins.. just the main vein lol and from where the fan leave starts from the branch, also on that same plant some of the leaves are curling under, theres a leaf or 2 towards the bottom, and then towards the top under the kola those newer leaves are doing it also. I GUESS THATS WHAT I GET FOR NOT BUYING A PH METER!!.. My next grow I'm deffinately getting one of the best ones.. Anyways the oldest one was getting fed 2 tbsp big bloom with 1 tsp tiger bloom.. and the other bb got the same just a weaker version.. The oldest female looks like she can handle more though, I was just taking it easy because I'm a noob and I can always add more if needed rather then burn them to death. So fuck, what should I do? Just let em finish and try to wing it?
And I almost forgot, if it makes a difference my water is walmarts distilled water. I swear by that stuff for my plants. And of course the occasional rain water when its available, but that was months ago when they last got that shit.
WooHoo! I was right for once.... Now, about the other problems... I know you don't want to talk about the PH, but seriously, that is the very first thing to look at. If you can't afford a good one at this point, get something even if it is those drops that you compare to a color chart. They are not very accurate, but they are cheap and will give you some idea on which way you need to adjust your water and nutes.
ok I have some of the test strips.. they are like the 8 way pool and spa ones.. Tells me me the ph also.. Now I think walmart had some ph up and down, it was hth pool and spa shit.. but still the label is nothing, the active ingredient was sodium bicarbonate i believe for one of them..and the other i dont remember. forgive me if I dont make sense last ngith was a hell of angiht, but will that do for now? and also I'm buying a ph meter off ebay as we speak, well as soon as one of you pros give me advie on which is the best one?? Isnt there good ph meters that you can just stick into the soil also? Thanks guys! fuck or do I need the drops?
Well, if you ordered a PH meter, you don't need the drops. The pool test strip is not very good, but it is better than nothing. The ones I have only measure between 6.2-8.4, so if you are using hydro, you are SOL. So, what is the PH of your water, runnoff water and soil? To raise or lower PH, I use the stuff for swimming pools. PH- (Dry Acid - MAKE SURE YOU GET THE DRY STUFF) to lower the PH PH+ (Sodium Carbonate) to raise the PH add either one (depending on your needs) in 1/8 tsp increments to a gallon of water until you get the PH where you want it.

Hey apprentice you didnt make that post all pretty Ok so today I think I gave my plants their first ph'd nutes.. I used some common household items to adjust the ph to the proper level as suggested in Ed's book that I have been reading.. Whats even better is my gf is farther ahead reading it. Also dude was right, I can't recall who said it, maybe trillions did but he said something similar to this note: "once your gf sees the buds you have grown shes gonna love you more" and by golly tis true. I really cant thank you guys enough for all of the information and support you offer. They have been flowering for 27 days now:love4: :love4: :love4:
