sup fellas, i just planted 6 seeds and they all sprouted and i threw them under a 24" 75watt fluorsent tube light that was labeled "grow light" so im assuming it will get the job done until i throw them under the 400watt metal halloid followed by the 400watt hps, right?? or do i need a more powerful fluorsent? let me know pleasee i cant fuck up this round

I am not an indoor grower but, I know that you should be looking more for the lumens in your fluorecent lights, This year I am going to be starting 6 plants under 8 13W spiral fluorecent bulbs that have 825 Lumens per bulb. The ratio you are looking for is about 6000 lumens per 4 square feet, assuming at the time being your pots are small enough to fit all 6 plants under that area then you will be good to go, and please if anyone else feels that I need to be corrected please do(not trying to sound bold)

One 75w Flo isn't gonna do much for you....Check out the CFL's at your local store...Standard socket and twice the lumans for less than $10 a bulb...great for veg, and easy to setup.

For more information of lighting (Flos v Cfls v MH v HPS), check your faqs!

75 watt flourescent will be ok for seedlings (keep the light as close as possible to the plants). Having a MH (metal halide) and HPS (high pressure sodium) light is good due to the different spectrum output, however grow lights are expensive and awesome bud can be grown solely under High Pressure Sodium.

    quick easy answer..

i have that 24" fluoro tube light that says 75 wat light output , uses 17 watts of energy. does that mean its only giving me 17 watts or 75? and if i buy a second 1 and put it right next to the first one, would that be enough for the 6 sproutlings? thats like 150 watts right?

Are you sure it is a 75 Watt? All the 24" fluorescent tubes I've seen are 20 or 30 Watts (I've got a bunch of them). What color is the light?

IMHO, the Fluorescent tube will be fine for a week or two. Just keep the light VERY close (1 or 2 inches). After that time, fire up the MH.

Edit: You posted just before I did....

It is a 17 Watt tube (very thin right?). Still, that will be fine for seedlings for a week or two. I keep my sprouts under a 20 Watt Flo for 2 weeks before I move them up to more wattage. Works great for me.

well its weird because it says on the box "great for plants and flowers", and "75 watt light output, uses 17 watts of energy" ....does that mean 17 or 75? and it looks kind of like they are stretching? they are like an inch and i just potted them 3 days ago..im not really sure wat to do? where can i get a legit fluorsent that will get them started right you know?

Look on the box, what are the lumans?

It is 17 Watts. It puts out the same amount of light as a 75 Watt incandescent (standard) light.

Like I said, it should be fine for the first week to get the seedlings started. Just make sure it is 1-2 inches away from the plants.

okay well since it was only 10 bucks should i go get another and put it right next to the first one to make sure they dont stretch? will that work until i throw them under the 400watt mh?
