well i am now into week 2 of 12/12 with my 70watt HPS, its lookin good so far:punk: maybe this wasnt a bad idea for only 2 plants....but i had to add some CFls just to make sure. but its definitely not like the good ol' 400watt HPS but i think that i will get some good results. you should keep this thread updated, I am very interested in seeing what kind of yield you get out of this.

    happy growing!

well dude, as far as math is concerned a 1000w hps/by 50 plants = 20 watts.

so 70w/2 plants = 35 watts, which means youre pulling more watts per plant than most growers usin 1000w hps bulbs!

    GROW ON!!!

Is this true? Or is this just stoned math? :qbluewacko:

(I know the actual calculation you did is right, but does it really work that way?)

bit of a stretch putting 50 plants under a 1K.

far better to go with a watts/lumens per square foot equation

it is actually just a calculation, but i guess we'll find out how well it works for the mad russian. and lumens per sq. ft. is a better way to figure out how much lighting is needed. ive just been known to cram as many plants into a grow space as possible while still watching my power consumption.

i wish i had a better camera, i will see if i can borrow one from someone. as far lumens...i have a pretty good light level i think. and the 2 plants are developing pretty well, i think even better so than the last crop when i had 6 under a 400watt HPS. the CFl's are helping though for the under growth, this is kind of a stretch tho. The bulb doesnt even get that hot too...less than a regular 100 watt incandescent! it helps that i rigged it to my 400watt reflector, that was a fun project. i think i might have found my mini scrog light, this is definitely for no more than 2 plants tho, especially my 2, they are in a 5 gallon bucket and have been completely healthy since i cloned em':punk: i will keep everyone updated.
