Answer me this. They say if u sing to a plant it will help it grow, because of CO2 u release while singing. What if u were to blow the smoke from ur stash onto the plant would it help because of the thc u are also blowing back onto the plant? just something i thought about while enjoying a good smoke.

    :confused2:

No! That is actually a terrible thing for a plant. The smoke will just clog pores on your plant sufficating it. Plants like fresh air give them that instead.

...i am going to go out on a limb here and say.. no ... the smoke would have no effect on the outcome of the THC% of your harvest. the smoke may even have a negative effecton your plant. (dont quote me on any of this this is all just from grade 6 knowledge of smoke and trees..they breathe co2 and exhaleoxygen) i would say.. since humans are kinda opposite in marijuana in that aspect, we breath in oxygen and exhale co2, if your in your grow room, you are expelling co2 everytime you exhale. you can always get an outside sources of co2, but dont smoke cigaretes or weed near your plants. (LIKE I SAID...i have no information backing, just previous knowledge on this so if im wrong.. tell me strait)

smoke contains carbon monoxide not dioxide so all it would do is fuck with your plant...if you wanted to use this theroy i would say vaporizing would be your best bet..since its not really smoke your releasing...peace az

    This is interesting...

I agree to no smoking with the plants....smoke bad.:5bomb:But if you kept them where you slept they would get a nice little exchange going with you. The more heavy breathing, the better!LOL! On the topic of the singing....I have used a method with houseplants where I put the cd player on the counter with them and supposedly the vibrations from the music stimulate the roots, kind like a mini-earthquake or something. I've never applied to to mj, but I got the idea from my grandma,( Bless her soul) for rooting my african violets...and to be quite honest, if I don't do this, they take longer to root...weird, I know. Grandma was a thinker, too....

I saw an experiment about music and plants

I think it was Mythbusters, or something similar. They did an experiement to determine if and what kinda music stimulates the plants to grow faster. Turns out that it acutally worked, and the plants responded the best to Heavy Metal :)

I saw that on Mythbusters. My theory on that is that the vibrations caused by the music makes the plants shake a little and that, in turn, causes the stems to be stronger and thicker. Like when we put a fan in the growing room the blow on the plants, just on a smaller scale. That Heavy Metal causes the plants to shake more.

allsmilez's grandmother was on to somthing.

there are farmers who use this practice, however they use tapes of "natural music," such as certain bird noises and low frequency vibrations.

I caught a wild squirrel and tamed him. Well kinda. I have him locked in my grow room. He is muzzled so he don't eat my garden and chained to a concrete block so he don't wreck the place. I got a little pair of cymbals from one of those stupid monkey things and the only way I'll feed him is if he bangs the cymbals together and taps his foot. This gets 2 birds stoned at once. He emits CO2 and plays music dam near all day long hoping I give him more food. My plants love it and it doesn't even use electricity. I'm thinking of catching a rabbit to put in there as well. But I don't know how hard it would be to get a rabbit to play a flute. Will keep you posted on that one.

I always smoke in my grow closet and have never seen negative results from it. Of course, the smoke is sucked out pretty quickly through the scrubber by the exhaust fan.

About the smoking part: We've talked about this before, and yes, some plants DO filter out things like cig smoke, now, as to whether or not marijuana is including in these categories of plants, I could never find definitively.

hahaha this is perhaps the funniest, most stoney, and yet genius idea I have read in a very long time. my friend used to keep his cats beds in his grow room so there sleeping wold emit CO2 and it worked well because cats breath hundreds of times a min. But sadly no animals are aloud in my housing

smoke does in fact clog stomata. a lot of pro growers in the know dont smoke in their grow room. in fact, if youre a hobby grower an sneak a few puffs in your room i would spray my plants down with h2o weekly. i gotta admit, im guilty of havin a few puffs in my room, but my plants get a foliar spray weekly.

    ...smoke stresses plants out.

But, I have never noticed any negative effects of toking in my closet.

Nicotine is pretty much poison for any thing. (Yes I smoke tobacco)

As far a music goes, I think it's pretty much beyond disputing that music/sound can be both harmful and beneficial to plants. Mythbusters is cool (I've not seen the episode in question) but research was done in the early 1900s in India (and in many other times and places since). The Indian researchers noted benefits from playing music and also from dance (with out bells) seeming to indicate that it is the vibration which is effective whether it takes the form of audible (to humans) sound or not. They were dealing with live performance and so were limited in their testing abilities (not practical to play 18hrs a day for several months). They found that playing 15 min before sunrise and continuing to 15 min after seemed to "get the juices flowing" at the same rate that normally wouldn't be achieved till much closer to noon.

There is a "Wonder product" called Sonic Bloom that I believe is a combination of a sound-track and a foliar feeding product that is reported to be the culmination of this research. Dan Carlson is the name of the researcher/producer. I would be VERY interested if anyone knows anything else about Sonic Bloom!

There was also some research done in the 1960s by a student in Colorado that seemed to indicate that some music (specifically rock music) caused erratic growth, or deformity and eventually death. Volume and duration also had effect. Her studies indicated that classical music was most beneficial but also that Ravi Shankar produced results that were as good.

As for my own experience...inconclusive. I did play quite a bit of Thievery Corporation in close proximity to my first crop but that was because it's the only way I could get my daughter to go to sleep. The plants did well.

I am designing a cab currently and I'm working on incorporating a small low power music source, might not get incorporated till later down the road though. I'd love to see how a Jamaican strain responds to Bob Marley:icon_sunny:

    Good Growing!

P.S. I was working from memory on the plant/music research, it's been a while...

But I do notice a trend of posts.

Smoke is not just CO2 it's CO

Carbon Monoxide. Now the earth atmosphere has a certain amount around .025-.5 ppm This is safe levels.

Now A chimney flu contains 5,000 ppm (you see plants growing in an active flu?)

an undiluted cig. has 30,000 ppms. (hell it kills us and animals...what about plants?)

You tell me if blowing smoke into your grow area is healthy?

    (wikipedia link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_monoxide#Toxicity )

    Just my 2:bits
