Yes. Naturally, that depends also on the stage/age of the plant. There's a whole lot about it in the 'cloning section', on this site... http://www.growkind.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24681 :qbluewacko:
If you wanted a cutting purely for a mom, why not use a something a little bigger than one branch....as long as it doesn't kill off all its ends, you would have a further developed mom ready for cutting in a few weeks...... While on the flip side, taking smaller clippings is meant for you to grow lots of plants... Not sure if anyone does this in practice, or if its more stress on a bigger sized cutting....but I can see some reasoning behind it.
looks to me like he is asking about a branch comin off the main stem not the main stem itself. it says could it be cut AT the main stem...not could the main stem be cut....i could be wrong.
*Shrug* ...That's what I do, actually. Grow a few nodes, top it. LST the resulting branches. Yes, smaller buds. Yes, more manicuring. Yes, grows a nice, healthy plant with lots of leaves for vegging, uniform cola height, and stays low. Plus, now ya have a clone, too! :qbluewacko: .02
you should have some back up plants and just do a little experiment for us whether your using just one branch or using the whole top just remember too buy that rerooting stuff
Let me see if I can clear up the question a bit. My buddy has a plant that the bottom branches are about 2-3 foot long. He wanted to thin it up a bit so he asked if he could cut off the bottom branches at the main stem and clone them?
dont you have to use smaller branches to clone? i imagine lots of the branch would die while waiting to root.
