Can I flush the nutes out of MG potting mix?

    Hi GKers,

    Plant: 1 Blueberry
    Veg: 24 days
    Flower: 26th day
Light: 2x250watt HPS (8 inches from top of plant)
Medium: 3 gallon pot of Miracle Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix.
PH: Unknown I live in a country where technology is non-existent for gardening so there are no PH meters
Nutes: Bio-Nex 5:10:5, fed only a minute amount, 2 times. (once at 14days, once at 21 days)

    Problem:
In the late stages of veg, I noticed leaf clawing, but the foliage was still lush and green all through the veg cycle.
About the second week into flower, I noticed necrotic brown and yellow spots on some large leaves at the bottom of the plant.
Then, a pale yellow colored margin appeared around most of the leaf veins at the middle of the plant.
Now, 26 days into flower, I have lost about 8 large fan leaves from the bottom of the plant, and the leaves midway up the plan are starting to go the same way. Leaves at the top look healthy, some clawed.

Is it nute burn, or Mg deficiency??
If it is nute burn, can I flush the nutes out of this soil with water, or will time only release them?

    Thanks.

You can not just flush out the time release MG food, unfortunately.

What you are experiencing with the leaves is from to many nutes due to the MG potting soil... I would Flush once with just PH adjusted water only, no nutes. The next watering cut back on the flowering nutes to 1/4 strength and see if that helps the clawing of the leaves....

I'm not using ANY nutes. I only used a few millilters about one week ago.

Man, I wish i could flush out that soil.

    Thanks.

I have a plant growing in the MG soil, it got burned pretty bad too... The leaves were clawed bigtime, although they didn't get the yellowing and chlorosis that yours have. Anyway, I was giving it Schultz Instant plant food on top of the fertz already in the soil, and it hurt the plant.

    Here's what it looked like:

Anyway, I flushed it with a gallon of plain water, then I let it dry out really well, and then I flushed it one more time. The plant has since rebounded well. Same plant, 8 days later:

So I say, go for it. Flush it. It probably won't hurt to try it, and it just might help.

    Good luck! dooob

That doesn't look like M.G. nute burn it looks like a ph problem.I have grown with every kind of M.G. & with the time release nute you can't flush. Sometimes you will get nute lockout because of ph check your ph if that's not it add 1tbs epsom salt per gal water & water your plant.-Bud

That's what I thought. As I said, I live in a country where there is basically no technology for gardening, so I can't get a PH meter.

    Thanks for the help.
