I have 2 gal buckets, a lot of them. Do you think I could use them for outdoor grow? I just do not want to plant them all into the earth. They were once pickle buckets, if that matters. There in the plastic 16 oz cups now and I just wanted to know if 2 gal buckets would be good for some of them to spend the rest of there life in. Actually they will spend a few more weeks in my cold frame I am building tomorrow. I'll post a pic tomorrow if I complete it.
If your planing to let them grow out side till harvest NO 2 gals. is not big enough but 5 gal. or larger will.-Bud
Probly not, Blah....outdoors they can get, like, 7' tall! IMHO, yer best chance is to use bigger buckets or plant them in a hole that is filled with a decent soil. *shrug* .02
They'd probably get rootbound in the 2 gallons... Plants outside get huge root systems. Like Bud said, 5 gallon buckets would probably be good enough, and you might be able to find those for free somewhere.
In the past I have used 3 gal buckets and I cut the bottom off. Then just bury the bucket and let the roots grow down into the earth. Had great results.
