whats up yall, i got some clones growing that are starting to fade. i self diagnosed and treated the plants, now im lookin to the forum to see if i did the right thing. i wanna figure shit out on my own by tryin different stuff out, so far im not doin so good haha, but im still trying.....so heres the run down. these babys are clones from a plant that i have flowering right now. they are both showing the same problems. youll see from the pics. from what ive gathered from reading up around here and other sites and books and anything else that talks about plant problems ive come up with magnesium deficiancy with possible p or k deficiancy due to red petioles. today i watered with reverse osmosis water with tsp per gallon of cal-mag and also a 1/4 strength shot of bio-grow by bio-bizz. the soil is fox farm organic (red bag) one scoop of perlite to every three or four scoops of soil. im hoping ph isnt a problem since this soil is supposed to be bufferd (i didnt add any lime to the soil for fear of too much lime) but just to be sure i checked with my el cheapo probe and reading in between 6 and 7. i tested the runoff water and it came to 6.9 on the ph. im not sure what i should be lookin for with runoff ph if anyone cares to enlighten me on that be my guest. i havent given them any nutes till now so i dont thing its a over nute lockout other nute issue. i used my tap water for the first couple of waters so im hoping it isnt a calcium buildup which is lockin out the mag. thats where i get confused. temp in the room stays around 80 and hum. ranges from high sixties to high forties. lights are fluorescent tubes. heres the pics. this is the whole garden, the two in front with black pots are my real problems, the one on the left is being jogged and the one on the right is being lst'd. just doin a little expierament to see what works better for these plants. these two are the fan older fan leaves, they started with the brownish/purplish color spots then got yellow quickly these two are the actual top and a branch top, they are light green with cupping leaves this is the whole lst'd plant jogged plant, then some tops then the fan leaves i hope someone can help me out an lemme know if i made the right choice in my diagnosis and repair. thanks.
Looks like you could use a little cal-mag, and you did that already... I've personally not encountered this problem in my grow room. I will add one thing- In my experience, some strains root masses grow quicker than others. My purple power going right now's root mass was growing super fast. During veg I had to trim it down twice when transplanting. Make sure it's not rootbound. When my stems turn that color, the roots are sometimes getting close. Just something to keep an eye on.
Hello. The nutes that you spoke of; I don't know shit about. That don't mean they ain't good, I just don't know them. I will also tell you, I'm not a soil dude. Others around here are WAY more versed on that medium, so I would be happy to see them also chime in. Some things I CAN tell you. The plants to the right, seem to be doing well. So you got something going on. Let me ask you; is there a way for you to get your tubes to hang level, above your plants? like on chains you could raise as need be? when they are at an angle like that, you don't get all that they can give you. Floros aren't high intensity, and are good for what your doing in there, but that angle is not best for you. Flat across, right down on the tops, and raise em' as thet grow, is a good way to roll. I will tell you, that the brown spotting I saw, is often a sign of root lock, but I also can't say it's what you've got. others here with soil chops perhaps will give you finite details on that, based on your nutes that I don't know, but; get your fixtures horizontal to your plants. And consider two things. Do you either have Super thrive? or perhaps a seaweed based nute? like Liquid Karma? both of these nutes are famous for saving stressed plants. I like them both for that remedy. I havent had 'thrive for a while, as I'm ALL about the Karma. I CAN'T say for certain that you have or not locked your roots based on I have no chops with the nutes you spoke of. I WILL tell you that both of the nutes I mentioned are good for saving stressed plants, that, and adjusting your lamps. If people with soil chops have finite details, by all means, but I would say those are two things I would consider along with what others may add. I would level those lights, bottom line. I think you can fix em. Good luck.
thanks for the replies guys, the lights were raised like that so i could water and get some pics, i knew i shoulda posted the lights down pic, haha. ima check those nutes out you talked about, i jus dont have the cash to spend on em right now. they are in two gallon pots, jeez im hopin they not root bout. they are only in the fourth week of veg, plus ive noticed the redness for a little while now. if i dont see improvement real quick like ill give em a transplant so i can check the roots. i have some ff ocean forest soil that i picked up to try out so theyll go in that. any one else care to drop some science??? heres a pic with the lights hanging normally when im not workin on em. i snapped this right after i dropped the lights before i got em all centered between the two fixtures....
I dont know about that. I have my plants in pots at are 2 gallons, no more than 2.5 gallons. I dont think I have rootbound. My last grow with 3 gallon pots had PLENTY of root room when I harvested.
A lot depends on how fast the plant is going to grow. I ALWAYS have to trim the roots after a 4 week veg in 2 gallon pots.
Ya depends on the size of those plants too. The ones on the right might need bigger pots because they are pretty large plants. The smaller ones in the middle probably dont need a replant.
I have to agree with KC I veg 4-6 wks. and when finished, my root's are fine :icon_thumright: Purple power is an outdoor plant, maybe why the root's grow faster.
Feed me daddy!!!!!!!!!!!! That is what it looks like your plants are saying. My friend commented that your plant resembles his, the only major diff is that he is leaching his plant which is about two weeks away from harvest, and you are. . . well not. That is my 2 cents, oh and the obvious; 250 dollars will get you a 400w HPS light. this is half the cost of one ounce of kind bud, marinate on that thought. Pax GB
Damn Straight, GB! I just bought a 400 HPS/MH electronic ballast, 6" cool tube, and a decent HPS bulb (Ushio?). It kick's ass! Alway's worth it to upgrade, when you can.
yo thanks for the replies yall. so i jus took a peak at em, jus a little over 24 hours since i watered and im not sure yet, i think i jus really want them to be better so my mind is playin tricks ya know, but the leaves that were curling are looking to be not as curled and it looks like the petioles might be flushing back green. i noticed that the leaves with the furthest progressed yellowing and necrotic spots have the darkest red almost purplest petioles. the leaves that arent as affected have lighter red. i made a note of some stuff to check progress tomorrow. im not sure how long it should take for stuff to take effect. to the guy that said theyre rootbound, thats something ill definitely check if the nute treatment dont work, i appreciate the input fam. yo greybush, that makes me feel better to see you say that and yo check this out, i kinda hit a score......so right now im flowering under a 250 watt hps in a converted shower stall in my basement, ill post some pics sometime, but check this out, i work maintenance for this company, and i was workin with this dude on a 400 watt hps parking lot light that was out. it came to be that the ballast didnt work, i told the dude we could jus find and replace the part that was bad in the ballast but he said 'naw fuck it well jus get a whole new one'.....i say sweet, ill jus g'head and hold on to the "bad" one. get back to the shop find out it was a bad capacitor, cost me 30 bucks. soon as the 250 watt bulb gets weak ima make the switch. the 400 is a multi tap so it'll work on the existing circuit and i think my base can handle a 600 watt lamp, should only take about 20 minutes to swap em out. :happy3: oh yea.......GO CELTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
