As some of you may know, I have been out of the growing thing for a couple years now and have been travelling the countryside building roads and bridges in remote areas. Its been some time since I had a go at this growing thing but all seems to have swing placeall-right. :bigok:

To start with I knocked up a quick cab out of spare gear I had in a storage shed. This should make do untill I can build a decent cab in the next few weeks. Spring is in full swing here and indoor temps at night are in the 80's alone so ventilation is a must and Ill soon be adding an Air con.
So far theres a 250MH, air cooled shade, seperate cab vent and large desk fan circulating air inside.
No light leaks any where when closed however I think I may have to increase the size of the inlet and outlet vents as the fan sounds as though its labouring a bit hard.

I tried a few good beans I had stored however none seemed to want to pop untill I ended up with some ducksfoot crosses and a few other old crosses to come up. Some of these have already started to preflower and I've removed a few boys but so far have a few girls, (also have a couple out back).

I still had plenty of extra equiptment left in the shed so I decided to get stuck into building some vegetable tables. I should have done a how to on them however I was a little caught up in the exitment of making new tables. There is two rpws of vegies that have been in a week or so and the new trays I set up today. Spent most of the day cleaning blood clay balls and washing out roots to transplant but all it worthwhile. Have the slightly smaller trays with things like herbs, an array of lettuce, tripple curl parsely, garlic chives, leeks, mini broccolli, sugarloaf and ball head cabbages, spinnach, bok choi, celery and rainbow silverbeet. The larger trays have tressles built in, (put in one today after pic and have plans to run two more between the rows), as have the more robust creeper and hanger types in it. Ie. egg plant, tomatoes, snow peas, zuchini, cucumber and capsicum, (have a few pots left to put in some beans when I can find some).

    Starting Off
    [IMG]

When the two new tressles go in I will brake the larger table down for a brief build on it, (they are great for mj SOG), and will try keep an updated log here.
    Take it easy folks.

    Thanks for the props people.

Yep cirtainly starting to watch the old thumb turn a nice light shade of green and 'happy' as.

Managed to get the vegie tables loaded and nothing seemed to die over night so all good so far.

Pulled a couple more males out this after noon and found another 2 girls. So far just about been 50/50 boys to girls. Placed some 'THseeds' Heavy Duty Fruity beans in to today so hopefully there will be a nice new flavour to put in this veg cab when the new one gets turned on.

Cant wait till the rest of the gear I had to order to turn up at the hydro shop so I can get stuck into the new cabinate.

    A quick update.

All seems to be sailing along fine. Have had a few of the little-uns start to preflower so as par usual, out with boys and new pots for the girls. Managed to find a few girl D.Foot x's. Only have three D.Foots in the Cab with one confirmed girl so far and a few girls D.F's outside. Have three nice looking bagseed or dad's crosses, (beans he had saved), confirmed girls in the cab aswell as about a dozen outdoors.

Decided to flip to 12/12 early with these as they are really just a trial run for the cabs and a hold over till some good beans pop or my new flavours arrive. Was looking at ordering through Dr Chronic again but as we all know, that just can not be anymore so am going to bight the bullet and order through seed boutique.

One Q? Do they sell there beans in breeders packs? Mr Nice, Serious and Dutch Pasions?

All gear is ordered and on its way, even got a few new trinkets to play with and trial in the future.

A couple different centrifulgal fans incase expansion occurs, (can fan rs150 and rsl200, a few new wattages in HPS (250, another 600 and a thoughie), can66 carbon filter with the prefilter and the main new toy, the harvest master 'climate' envirnment controller. Baby is a wicked little timer/ controller and can change complete day lengths from 24hrs down to 18 during flower, (been wanting to try this for some years now) reducing an 8 week flower to 6 weeks. Have not ordered the controller as yet as getting prices and info from supplier as to the 'climate pro' cotroller as it has C02 sensers & option built in and trying to figure if I want to fork out the extra $ to play with C02.

Ok, time still rolls on and things have progressed.

The veg cab has almost been outgrown, and the new flower cab is all but done. Ventilation seems to be sorted, no light leaks exept around the doors which will be sorted today. So as of today Happies new perso perpetual garden kicks in.

    Have a 250MH Veg area.

    Approx 50cm x 75cm by 1.7mtrs.

    And a 250 Flo Cab.

    65cm x 90cm x 2mtrs.

There is ample air flow in the flower cab to run a 400, however it is really heating up here (summer wise) and Im trying not to use the aircon, (temp does go up an extra degree or so with 400 compared to 250), so 400 during winter.

    OK coming soon.

    Happies Perpetual Attempt.

1st. DFoot cross and bagseed trial (5 weeks to finish.)

2nd. NLxBigBud and White Rhino grow. (seeds are in as I type)

3rd. Ak47 and White Widow. (seeds go in a soon as trial plants are in their flush cycle).

I like to run all my seed in soil so all these grows will be in soil untill I have figured the best parent plant of each strain. Once chosen, moms will be in soil then clones will be stuffed into a bubbler/ krusty freedom hybrid type system I have decided to play with.

Well I might try get my act into gear and gets some picks up then.

    Till then.

    Cheers

    Allright then.

    Moving on forward a tad.

The flo cab is built and working at good temp.

Ended up buying a 150mm Tiger centrifugal fan that is quiet as fuck, as all other shops and distributers were sold out or didn't have in stock. It moves approx 300 litres a second, (with out restriction, a lot less with the filter but still heaps). The cool tube has a fan each end to aid the self contained vented hood. The girls have been moved into their new home with a little more space and a 150mm x600mm 'phatt filter' carbon scrubber for obvious reasons. The girls look a little thin as I hacked the hell out of the lower, weaker branches and inner foilage to allow for better ventilation whilst they were in the smaller veg cab.

Swithched the 250hps bulb to the new flo cab, replace 250MH into the veg cab, decide that the panda film was doing a fine job for now so have the veg cab dormant, cleaned out and ready for the new genetics to move in. Decided not to change much as it seemed to be working great. If you look at the pics in my gallery, you'll note a sativa girl touching the cool tube with no burn or defect.

In the lower left, there is the new clone tent, well worth the investment for ease of set up, quality etc. Placed some 2' dual batton 55w flos in there for now, putting 4 more dual battons in, have a 150 inline fan sucking out and a 100mm inline blowing in. Have some White rhino seeds sprouted in there and still waiting on my NLx BB to pop. So far 100% with WR and only 1/10 of the NLxBB, which is a mutant as it couldnt ditch it's shell. The NLxBB seeds were huge though and I expected them to be a little difficult to germ.

If they don't decide to pop, I have brand new packs of Dutch Passions White Widdow And Serious AK47 for back up.

I wasn't able to get the harvestmaster controller as the misses wanted a car, so maybe will have to put it back on the wish list as my next little gadget . Still have managed to put together a fine spare grow room though, for when winter comes around or room around the house permits.

    All brand new-

    *400MH ballast & Sunmaster Globe

    *600Hps Ballast & Sunmaster Globe

*Can66 Filter with an extra spare prefilter

*Can RS200Lx fan, moves lots of air

    *150mm cooltube

*150mm spectrum inline fan for shade

*Asst ducting, spiggots, oss. fans for all ventilation.

*Asst HD timers, pwer boards etc.

*Also have a portable aircon, (back left), just incase.

Well its taken some time to get these pics up to my gallery, (my comp is jerryattrick as), so Ill leave you all there and catch up a few more pics and unfoldings tomorrow night.

    Cheers

NICE!!!! So how big of a fan did you get for that 600W and scrubber?

  15. HappyJay

    HappyJay Red Eyed Jedi

The fan I got for the 600hps is one of the inline 150mm spectrum fans through a 150mm cooltube, will run as a sealed system so fan is only cooling shade.

The Canfan I grabbed to run through the Can66 scrubber in the tent is the RS200Lx model, runs 95watts @ around 350l/s non restricted.

In the flowercab, I decided to run a slghtly smaller carbon scrubber from an Aussie company called 'Phatt Filters". I'm really happy with the quality of the make and have figured easy ways to re-change the carbon over in the future. The Phattfilter has a 150mmduct, 250mm outer diameter and 600mm long.

For the fan I couldn't get a 150mm canfan or any 150mm centrifugal fan for hydroponics any time soon in my location as even internet distributers were stalling and out of stock etc, so the earliest was like still another 2 weeks to get a westaflex. I was impatient as so a couple calls, a couple more calls, then finally a few more calls and I managed to find a wholesale aircon and ventilation joint that sold to public and had centrifugal fans. I asked if I could look at it, turn it on etc. Was wisper quiet and moves apparently 300l/s unrestricted according to the graph. I asked if I could pay for it, take home and try to see if it was right for the system and scrubber, and return if not damaged and not suitable. He was cool as he couldn't tell me real flow rates there and then as they work on a pressure type flow rate system and I didn't take the scrubber with me. Was a little different shape and design than I was expecting as it is a low profile design however it suits rhe cab perfect and works well, so I kept it. The tiger fan runs a 62watt ziehl-ebm motor which I am sure is about the same as the wastaflex. I shall take some pics of it tonight when the light kicks in. I have it suspended in the cab at the moment blowing out the scrubber however after this round, I might try re-install so the fan is pulling through the scrubber and blowing out a muffler or such. Still thinking of grabbing the wastaflex 150mm anyways to compare to the tiger.

The girls seem to be loving there new home, I transplanted to some bigger new pots and they didn't even flinch. I found these new pots, well drainage pits, at bunnings and they rock.

At ten bucks a pit, they are around the same price as a normal gardening pot but a hell of alot more durable and heavy duty and hold round 10 to 12 litres. To top it off, they sit together like they were made for hydro with a 90mm well at the bottom, (note the slide slots in pot in middle of pic). When slid together, I could rig them perfectly so they would act like a small krusty pot, (right of the pic), or you can buy these tops with a drainage hole for them, so i just drilled em out a bit to fit a net pot, and presto, perfect DWC bubbler.

You may note I also have em in the cab with soil, just drilled holes in bottom of the inner pots and just have the outer pot acting like a catcher.

Well cheers for viewing my grow.

    Cheers for the kind words.

It took me some time to come up with a design, well an actual plan for the different systems. At first I was going with the vag cab, then I have another identical I could have converted to a clone box. I was then going to build a two chamber flower cab from scratch so I could run a 400 each side, with a flip flop switch running each side alternatively. After drawing the designs, sorcing the gear I didnt have, then getting wood etc, I started to lay the wood out for cutting when I realised I wouldn't be able to get it into the bedroom from the shed, (building area), due to size constraints. Well this is the result of a of smoking a shitload of bubblers of mediocre weed as insentive to get something built and some of my own good smoke in. I measured and remeasured, the halway, the door, the cab, the light shades with ducting for angles, fan, scrubber, etc etc etc untill a day & a bit later, I ended up with what you see here now.

Is no where near the carpentry skills seen here by mentors such as Sparky or GT420, but its light tight, sturdy and quiet. A few well positioned boxes hide the scrubber and wires, a fishtank takes blame for the noise so the only give away is the locks on the doors. This can be masked by the fact I'm a bow hunter with lots of dangerouse type toys and a 5yr old. I might actually put up a hunting calander on the flower cab door and discuise feed and harvest etc dates as other hunting or fishing related issues.

So far, I have been just feeding them my old recipy of Thrive 'flower and fruit', a little bit of seasol, (like fish emulsion), and a drop of superthirve. Its a proven old recipy that works however I cant wait to compare with the new fert trials I have coming along.

The girls seem to be starting to kick into flower good now, the ducksfoot crosses were a little behind in the onset of flowering but I have noticed that they took a little longer to start, but are swelling up and creating bracts at a rather rapid pace now. The two other mostly sativa girls are starting to cluster well and the all sativa girl looks like she might be finally finishing stratch and buds are starting to form. Looks like we will have to wait and see what thay have to offer

Here I have the full Canna 'aqua' & 'terra' range with all the canna additives, the GH 3 part series & floranova series, multitude of GH additives, a range of other asst additives I have read shit loads of good feedback about, bluelab multi tester, bluelab ec trunchion and a new eutech pctestr, (my hanna pen was taken by pigs when they raided a friend of mine). I decided to grab this selection of nutes as I have always been a Canna fan with no probs, but to be honest, Useless has me wondering as he is the mad genius when it comes to feed time so I personal wanted to compare a side by side in my system.

So Useless, if your out there, be prepared for a slight pm invasion. :bigok:

Apart from that, I shall try update every sunday. The new white rhino sprouts are doing just fine, might beef up the flouros in the clone cab today. The NLxBB should be up any day soon so 2 weeks under flouros, move em to the veg cab, that should give em 3-5 weeks veg untill the ducksfoot and home crosses are finished, will have to use the loupe to judge as no finish times known as yet. As soon as I start to flush the girls now flowering, I shall put some AK47 and White Widdow beans in to complete the start of the perpetual system. Once all beans are grown out in soil and selected girls from each strain are chosen, I will start tinkering with clones in the new hydro pots. Moms of the different strains will be left in the other cab I had that was going to be the clone cab. So for now it is mom cab whilst all strains are run through then it will adventually become a pollen filtered dad cab.
