so.. I'm running a cooltube now and I think I got a young plant a bit too close to the light. I haven't given them nutes yet... just water.

So can anything be done about light bleaching? Is it done for? It's pretty bad and the plant is only 3 weeks and 1 day old.

It would help out a ton if you could post some pictures. Pretty bad to you might not be too bad at all!! You haven't given them any nutes, so, what you say is bleaching might actually be a sign of N def. In the veg state the plants thrive on Nitrogen, not too much though, it can be overdone. Post some pics so we can see what you are talking about.

    hmmmm

That plant needs fert bad. For 3 weeks old it is still really small. I would give it half strength fertilizer as not to shock it, and work up from there. Feed with fert once a week, any other waterings with plain water. With the plant being that old, you definately want to transplant that fucker, it could be root bound as well. When you transplant use good soil, something that doesn't say it feeds for 3-4 months. If you do get that kind of soil, like miricle grow or scotts, ect., you will burn it if you use added fertilizer. When I used soil, I liked Earth grow, bought in a big bag at Home Depot. It has no ammendments, and is free of any added nutrients. I like to be able to control the nutrients at different times during the grow, and especially for the flush during the last 2 weeks of flower. Mix in some perlite or vermerculite or both to the soil to keep it from becoming too compact, so the roots can still breathe. Man I hope this helps.

Oh by the way, as far as bleaching is concerned, it aint bad, might not even be bleaching. What kind of light are you using???

As for soil, well, I grow in hempy buckets. It's in straight perlite right now.

My light's a 400w mh in a cool tube. I thought light bleaching because of the regular patterns of the yellowing... that and the leaves dried out overnight despite being watered that afternoon. I watered, then moved the light a bit closer, then the next day I have this yellow.

So feeding.. ok, I'll feed it mild veg nutes. Can't hurt, it seems on the verge of death now anyway. The pH is spot on. Here goes...

bleaching happens over days of over abundant light. I would call what you got is burn. DO what kneight says and good luck. Bleaching can occur but its a slower yellowing than what you have. Keep that light off the plants a bit more. The older it gets you should be able to get that 400 pretty close, like 10 inches or so.

Already fed them all a mild mix of veg nutes.

Good to know... I'll post more pics in a day or so if conditions change either way.

    Thanks guys

Defineatly keep us posted. I really think it is a nutrient deal. I start nutes after my seeds have rooted immeadiatly. I do hempy too. I use jiffy pucks to root and then into 22 oz. plastic cups from the dollar store 3/$1. They are blue in color and emit no light thru them which is perfect. I am doing a micro sog right now and leaving them in the 22 oz cups all the way thru. Can't wait to see the end results. But in your case nutes will probably take care of alot, and I agree with brand, looks like the leaves got hot and scortched. No big. Cut off the dead parts and let it grow grow grow..... and remember to have fun with it!!

Perhaps you've rushed them into high energy lighting? :icon_confused:

Besides the fact that running a lamp costs more? if a flouro fixture is good? don't press it. Haste makes waste is what Granny used to say. That one in the cup? I'd keep it under tubes for WAY longer, When you DO change lamps? you're going to have some adjustments by the plants, and some level of response to the high output is certain to happen.

I don't have an exact method, but I EASE my babes into the big gun, to keep the change over to a minimum.

Advanced Nutes makes a product called; Revive, and it is a little pricey, as are all of their stuff, but its a good investment to put in your tool kit. I've had that stuff save plants that were just way whacked. I fried some with fert burn on purpose once just to see how good the stuff is ( I was going to toss them anyway.) and it works magic. If that is too high? try liquid Karma, it is a good second choice. Thats all I feed to wee' cuts 'till they get plugged in.

As a general rule? if shits going whack? the FIRST thing I do, is flush my stuff, and come back with half nutes with the above until they recover. If they are in shock? or are root locked? then thats what they need then anyway, and its never screwed me yet. Don't ADD stuff, reboot.

I think from the pix they will recover. Shit happens. Live and learn.

    Peace......

    are they top notch seeds

if these are bag seeds...i would just shit can them and start over...learn from your mistake..you can get a plant that big in about 2 - 2 1/2 weeks...and you wont have to "nurse" it back to health...now if they are premium seeds...that is a different story....your call....good luck...

This is actually my first non-bagseed grow. I bought these.. NL.. I have high hopes. And I will definitely nurse this one back to health :qbluewacko:

I would nurse it back no matter if it was bagseed or not, you never know, could be a the most killer shit anyone has ever smoked. I mean what do ya got to loose?

    bleached

Yea that baby is light bleached. It will recover. the bleached leaves will be toast. LIght bleaching can happen within hours with a hailide. Water as usual if its hempy and raise the light. You should see what they look like bleached with a 1000w.

    Good luck

    Cheers

This thread is over 2 years old folks!! He either lost it to the lights (or ph lockout, those pics look more like a mg deficiency than light bleaching to me, check out the pics on og faq under Nietzsche's plant abuse chart) or smoked it up by now:roffl:

This is a pic of mg deficiency from Nietzsche's plant abuse chart, looks alot like what his problem was
