I got a question for all of you.....I apologize if this should be in the pest forums. I have some LW2 in their 5th week and all was good untill about 3 days ago. I realize now that I've been watering too much...and now I have gnats. Most have died off and I've been taken the precautions to try and kill what might be in the soil. One thing I noticed was a smaller leaf was completely missing. I then noticed some of the other smaller leaves looking like they were partially eaten. Nothing bad but the most noticeable one was one of the original big fan leafs was half eaten and I found a small trail. I looked for almost an hour with my magnifier and couldn't find anything but I know something is or was there. I've never had the leaf eating issues before so this is strange to me. I looked for anything slug or snail related but I couldn't find anything. Maybe my soil was tainted from the beginning. My issue is I have a lemon skunk and trainwreck seed germinating. Both are feminized by the way. I originally wanted to put the new ladies under the HPS after the seedling stage to keep all the plants in one area. So my question is......should I give up on the LW2 so close to the end or see how they turn out? Bud sites aren't affected....yet. If I stick with them, will the new plants I'm starting be in danger if I put them in the same area? Or am I better off keeping the new ladies in veg under a T5 rig I have in a different area while I attempt to wait out the LW2? for the lack of pics....but I'm seeking advice more than a diagnosis. I've done searches and found some things on here but nothing too specific. I appreciate any input you guys may have. guys, My questions always seem long winded.
Gnats are no big problem and they don't eat leaves. It could be anything, but if just a few leaves and no sign of recent activity, don't fuss about it. If you can, find a good hunter spider or 2 and place them in your garden. Ive put a few small wolf spiders in mine and have cut down on alot of pests. Plus its fun to watch them run around now and again.
Hey Bud try a pest strip for the gnats. But I would really wait to put something else in there til I solved the problem:love4:
listen to me SPRAY SPRAY SPRAY. I had your same problem, although I did not have eaten leaves....JUST MAKE YOUR OWN SPRAY. BOIL HALF A CIGGARETTE, THEN ADD IT TO 1/4 TEASPOON OF DISHWASHER SOAP (DAWN), A TEAPSPOON NEEM OIL (IF U GOT IT), SOME POWDERED GARLIC, A LITTLE PEPPER, AND MAYBE A LITTLE SALT( TO DRY UP ANY JUICY INSECTS)....THEN APPLY THIS TO YOUR PLANT UNTIL SHE DRIPS FROM THE UNDERSIDES OF HER LEAVES AS WELL AS FROM THE TOP (MAKE SURE U GET THE UNDERSIDES) AND MAKE SURE U GET THE TOP OF THE SOIL...HONESTLY FOR THE GNATS, GET A PEST STRIP AND TRY TO KILL AS MANY OF THE ADULTS AS U CAN WITH YOUR FINGERS...LOOK FOR A CLUSTER OF LITTLE WHITE EGGS NEXT TO, OR NEAR THE BASE OF YOUR PLANT....THIS IS WHERE THEY LAY THEIR OFFSPRING...IT IS USUALLY A LITTLE CLUSTER OF WHITE EGGS MAYBE 1/8 INCH LONG. LOOK HARD, AND CRUSH EM'!
I would def. wait til u solve the pest problem before moving in any other plants. This will ensure u dont contaminate the new girls.. Once u have rid your room of the problem move in the other plants. If u see signs of an infestation on the new plants u have moved in, you know You havent rid urself of the problem and vice versa. Good luck with the critters. And yourst, the spider idea is a good one, but I dont dig spiders man.. I know they eat insects an all.. but man.. I'll admit it, I hate those fuckers.. damn spiders give me the crawlies! ! :icon_confused: GFAM
I may just veg the new girls under the T5 in a different room. That would be enough time for the current grow to finish so I can get rid of the problems altogether. Things always seem clearer after a day of not thinking about it. I just didn't want to have my grow spread out through my house. And spiders creep me out too....but def a good solution.
Thanks for the input everyone.... Just letting you all know things turned out OK. I let my plants completely dry out and watered them again. I haven't seen a single pest since then. Not sure what happened to the plant eating pests but no signs of them either. Thanks guys.....and by the way, my lemon skunk and trainwreck are well on their way. My seeds broke ground yesterday.
