well guys, i got my card so i can start growing. i've had the juicyfruit (from a friend's stash of ordered seeds) for about 2 1/2 weeks and the Pineapple for about 2 weeks. it's a clone from western WA that a friend was trying to do. I got the pineapple at 3 weeks old on the condition that i could keep it if i could keep it alive... it was about 4 inches tall, severely stunted root growth, and all the leaves were severely wilted. he overfertilized, then added more because he thought he underdid it... and kept it under a 400w HPS about 10 inches away. look at her now! the juicyfruit were from seed. I got 7 seeds but forgot to presoak them. combine that with them being over a year old and that i quite probably damaged the root structures on the fledglings that didn't pop, only 2 juicyfruits out of 4 juicy 3 mango seeds popped. does anyone know what that discoloration is? i may have let some fertilizer water stay on the leaves... is that it? i'm just now putting in 8 more seeds. more pictures to come in a few days when they pop. everything is done in hempy (5 gal buckets) under a 4 bulb t5 fixture and later a 430w HPS. my cabinet is small (4x2x6) so i'm likely only going to be flowering 2-3 plants at a time and am just going to keep vegging several. good pictures... kinda big. don't know how to post em right anyway.
I posted them for ya. They look like they should make a nice recovery, I'll be keeping an eye on this grow.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- good and bad news. i started 9 more seeds over the weekend, and the friend i asked to look after didn't water them in the 2 1/2 days I was gone, so when i got back the jiffy pods were toast. good news: thanks to a mysterious unknown donor, I acquired 5 more clones. two of the strains were on my wishlist... it was like a dream come true. thank you very much mysterious donor! I got: purple holland Alaskan Thunderfuck x2 NYCD Permafrost unfortunately these clones are in soil and i'm a 100% hydro user, so i'll have to use them as mothers and can use my preferred methods later.. still, NYCD and Permafrost are both strains that had happy homes in my wildest dreams. the Pineapple is strongly picking up, and both the juicyfruits are the most beautiful, short, fat compact little plants ever. pictures will be posted later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. here we are!
juicyfruits one and two, the pineapple i'm starting to lst (what can i say, I like bondage) and the clones. they were pretty deficient when i transplanted them 2 days ago, so it's hard to tell wether they should be reviving more rapidly or not. they're not getting worse but not getting much better. do you know if it could be a problem besides the transplant and rootbound state for a little too long? the 3 big ones have been showing quite a bit of growth the last few weeks. wish I could have had more pixels earlier but it's dead week... and all my finals were now instead of next week. I just finished. i'm thinking i'm going to put the 3 big ones into flower on monday (4 days). anyone think that's a bad idea?
day one flowering sorry about the wait finals were a bitch. Day one of flowering for the three big ones! pineapple was LST'ed and the juicyfruits are au naturale from seed. waiting on sex still. they vegged for 6 weeks until both from seed had alternating nodes. as you can see I identified and fixed the deficiencies in the small plants.
ok some updates: both the juicys are male. going to have to cut them tonight. i judged their sex too early before. the clones were just transplanted to 5 gallon pots and LSTed. we'll see which respond well to it. i've had the clones a month now, so they've probably been rooted about 5 weeks. I've progressed very slowly with the nutes, but now they're up to full strength. the next few days should be exciting. since my others are out now, i'm going to have only the pineapple for my first harvest. :icon_confused:
beautiful plants.I noticed in some of the pics the soil was wet just a little bit around the plants i think when you water you need to really water soak em and then let em dry out a good bit before you rewater if you only water a small amound around the plant all your roots wont get the water therefore creating a nutrient deficiency your problem may be as simple as that.so water those girls and see what happens most problems are usually something simple.
Looking good ma!!! Nice choice of strains also..... ABSALUTELY NO-EED to Waer any more tha you've doe my riend!!! NONE what so ever! Over watering , As ya may KNOW is also OVER KILL , and just AROUND the STEM is a actual Good way to do it ,IMO(And prob alot of others IMO's too!?) lol, As thats all i do Myself my friend, and ya see "My" results ma brotha from anotha motha!! :fly: ( I used to Water n Feed till i got RUN-off every time, and that ended up, being a BAD thing for the plans IMO, unless its when WATERING after transplanting, for ROOTS to find ways to sprout out n feed of of the water given, but thats about it IMO) Feeding just round the stem and watering just round the stems, is a good safer way of doing it, so that your SOIL "Doesnt" PH Out / Go outta conntrol so Quickly. It will still have good enough qualities in it, as its NOT been FULLY "DRENCHED" or "SOAKED" in this case, allowing for way better airation to the roots in general, and for a good Uptake of FEED n WATER!! Peace out, n hope that HELPS, UrBigBuddie.......... otleaf: :jj:
cool beans lol ill try that too good info.i also use bio-grow and bloom mycoryze and rare earth seems to work great ill try the less water and see what happens.assit:
i'd actually like another voice on that watering thing... because it's something I don't really think about. I've got a 50-50 perlite to soil mix with a couple inches of perlite on the top and 4 good sized drainage holes in the bottom... I've been watering in new pots about once a week and drenching it and letting it go until has definitely been dry for a day or so- about once per week for these 5 gal pots and thought it would drain enough to balance out. good plan or do I need less water? the deficiencies cleared up with a good flushing. the only leaves that are showing signs were the ones that were the worst before the flushing... they won't likely recover. I've experimented with a few different types of LSTing, including one that I think may be relatively original for controlling the height of big sativas. I'll fill ya in on the details if it works. the last two are of my pineapple in week 2-3 of flowering. can't remember. Picture time!
wonderful advice yall thank you i learned sumthing as well...i love GK....the folks rock it out on knowledge!
Update time. I put the permafrost into flowering (the most evenly bushy one) about a week ago, and the pineapple is 5.5 weeks into flowering! enjoy yall. i ran out of fox farm nutes so i've been using GH in soil... just made the transition and i'm still getting it perfected. plus, the canopy inside my veg cab is packed even without the permafrost, so the lower leaves are just dying off a little bit naturally. if only I had more space and light... speaking of which, I'm working on my new flower cab this weekend. after measuring further I realized it would be a massive waste to get a mover and 1000w (just not that much space), so I'm opting for 1 600w HPS and 1 600w MH. will include pictures of what's come so far with the next post.
very nice! I'm a new grower and have also learned a lot from this thread... UBB- a couple of my plants' soil doesn't seem to want to dry out thoroughly. I'm afraid of over watering and already have nute difficiencies, which is currently being resolved... any advice? I don't water to run off either, just around the stem area.
That last pic tells alot Stynk. Getting frosty  good luck! LM- Water until you get run-off out of the bottom drain holes. A full soaking, then wait until the pots are dry before watering again. The "lift" test works well. Simply lift a dry pot before you water it. Then lift it again once it has been soaked. When it is as light as it was dry it is time for water again. cheers,
yeah. sorry UBB... i found your watering technique to not work so well. I think it's because I spent a lot of time in veg, so they sap up water pretty fast. just seems to do better. thanks for the kind words.
Hey the plant in pics 2-4 looks early into flower, guess that's the permafrost. I'd probably go a head an dose them with a veg feed while they are still early in because of that draining at the bottom of the plant already just to make sir it doesn't yellow too soon on you. Still looks good, just can tell its already depleting its N stores. pics of the buds look great. Oh yea, and those FF nutes don't last too long do they? Atleast I don't think so, I felt like I went through them way faster than I should have. GH is pretty easy to use. Most plants can take full strength fine.
as a matter of fact all of those are still in veg! 5 and the last are the same, the ones between are the permafrost. the first 4 are NYCD, 2 Alaskan Thunderfucks, and Holland Purple. they're yellowing because I'm still getting the dose of fertilizers adjusted a little bit, but the canopy inside my cabinet is also so incredibly packed that there's no light getting to the lower leaves. makes sense, I've got 7 rooting clones 2 rooted clones and 4 8-9 week in veg plants under a 4 bulb t5 reflector. the permafrost is one I'm going to take a few special pictures for once it starts to flower a little bit... it's my favorite. you could say it's my masterpiece slave for this run. I counted it out, and it's got 18 colas all at roughly the same height. I'm adjusing the nutes up with each watering, and that problem should go away shortly. thanks for the input!
sup hey man your babies are looking alot better real nice trianing job.cheers:new_popcornsmiley: :new_popcornsmiley: im enjoying following this grow cant wait to see the finished product .
