i got a 4 ft x 3 ft closet i intend on growin in, im an electrician and have access to any size of hps or metal halide, what size do you recommend and go hps or metal halide? need some help my seeds are on the way from a seed bank
I grow in a 3x3 with a 1000w. I'd say go 600. 600's are the shit. edit: hps, perhaps an "enhanced" bulb.
Do the math. 1kW * 12 hrs a day = 12kWH. Electricity for the home is around $0.08/kWH. 12 * 0.08 = $1.06 per day or a little over $30 a month.
Tex, I got a 3' x 4' x 8' tall box. I split in half at the 4' mark. I am running a 400w cool tube in the top box. I wish I would have bought the 600w. The 400w light gives me 400/12=33w per sq foot and a 600/12 =50w per sq foot. You will need both bulbs
hey yah i just got a 400w hps ballast wired it 120 with a 24 timer, i got a bathroom fan in the closet on the roof for ventilation its a 110 cfm fan lost of power and i wired de-humidistat in parrallel with the fan switch to regulate the fan at about 45% humidity do u guys think i should have another vent for fresh air? like a dryer vent to the outside, the closet is on an outside wall so would that be ideal?? and i covered the walls with those safety blankets u get from a roadside kit, very reflective, have i missed any thing, thanks
ohh and im going soil i have no clue about hydro maybe in the future, i got my seeds from bcseedking in victoria british columbia, i ordered them havent got them yet but hoping next week i just want the room ready for them as soon as they arrive
Optimal light would be 600 watts. That's 5o watts of light per square foot of floor space. 35 watts will do so 400w would produce, but 600w would be better IMO.
Yeah. I forgot that part. Definitely HPS. They make enhanced spectrum bulbs that have enough blue spectrum in them to be more than effective for veg.
yah, i took out the 400w and wired in a 600w and brought a separate circuit in for it. i figure im growin it in hopes to be good so i'm not going to cheap out on the lighting especially seeing as how i got access to any thing. thanks for the advice every one, i'm sure i'll have many more questions, i'll keep u guys posted with everything with some pics of stages. thanks Tex
