After a very busy weekend, I have a cab full of 76 clones of 4 strains in various cloning mediums. I've got 40 clones in jiffy pellets, 24 clones in the bubblers, 6 clones in wick cloners and 6 in soil. This is the first time I've started them all on the same day. It will be very interesting to see which is the fastest vs which is the easiest.

Well damn I wish I would have known you were going to do this I would have tried talking you into throwing rapid rooters into the mix. I guess if you want to do a round two with the winners up against the rapid rooters. I used to use the plugs and liked them but then couldn't find them and turned to the bubble cloner. Well there is a place that carries the Rapid rooters again and my buddy got the 98 count slab and man those things have kicked my bubble cloners ass! We both started clones on the same day and his rooted way faster. The KKSC really likes the RR's, they have already done two rounds of clones of the KKSC in the time I have done one.

I just ran out of rapid rooters. I love them, but can't find them locally. They sell those damn jiffy pellets all day long at wally world, so I make due. They work alright in a pinch, but I'd rather have the RR's, especially for germination. Need to put them on the list.

I love rapid rooters... Hate the slabs of squares though too much work to cut them and shape them for my needs. I prefer the rapid rooters that are tubed shaped and tapered. The ones I buy usually have an advertisement for clonex on them somewhere. I believe my local dro shop sells a tray with 50 cubes and a small pack of clonex for 15 bucks. Just toss in a dome and a heat matt you will be off to the races.

I noticed you didn't trim the leaves down...?

I thought you want to cut off like 60% of the leaf tips of the full leaves you that remain on the cutting?

I use to clip the fan leaves. Did a side by side comparison and didn't notice any major differences. Just less leaves to clean up afterwards if you don't decide to trum them. But that is my experience to each their own.

Carpenter its looking good. Looks like your planning a bountiful harvest.

Yea thats what MK is talking about the combo.

The plugs alone look like this-50 plugs

And the slab/mat my buddy is using looks like this- 98 cubes. I will agree with MK guy though the mat isn't the easiest to break apart, I was using scissors on it. Thing is though we can get 3 mats(294 cubes) for the price of 2 bags of plugs(100 plugs).

  11. I have a friend who just took down his grow op and I got gifted 100 rapid rooter plugs, and damnit I had just bought myself a bag of 50! I use "rootech" cloning gel (I think thats what it is atleast) and I took my first batch of clones about 7 days ago...no noticeable growth really that i've seen...but they are still skunky smelling and green, so im hoping its a good sign

I just visited the grow shop and like always 2 bags of RR were on the list, toss a nice taproot seed in it and BOOM.....18-24 hrs later it mostly up and doin its thing! I use ROOTTECH gel for my clones along with rapid roots in a dome in this little plastic hole jig thing I made......put a lil water in it.....keep the RR's suspended a tiny bit above the water.....I tend to see roots in 7-12 days, depending on strain.......I also toss a paper towel ontop of the dome right above the lil ladies, just for the first few days tho, it seems to help not let em dry out to fast, jus a lil shade, the temps still stay perfect along with humidity.....I dunno, works for me!!!

I enjoy using materials I can get at walmart. I use 2 small sterilite containers. The bottom one I fill with RINSED perlite and add about a half inch of water to the bottom. I used Dip'n'grow rooting solution and put the clones in. I flipped the second container upside down and put it on top of the first to use as a humidity dome, 10 days later all 5 clones had rooted making my first attempt at cloning a success. :smokin:

Well the results are almost all in and the winner is.....

    ....

    ....

(1st)---Wick Cloners Roots shown at 6 days, new growth at 8 days.

100% (6/6) Survival Rate plus the added benefit of no humidity dome. Really love the simplicity of this method and not having to acclimate the clones to the ambient R.H. after they have rooted. Probably my new favorite cloning method.

(2nd)---Bubble Cloning Roots shown at 7 days, new growth at 8 days.

100% (24/24) Survival Rate, very vigorous growth once roots have shown and weak nute solution is added to res.

(3rd)---Soil Roots shown at 10 days, no new growth yet.

83% (5/6) Survival Rate so far.

(4th)---Jiffy Pellets Very little roots at 10 days, no new growth.

75% (30/40) Survival Rate so far. Probably the last time I use these. I have too hard of a time controlling the moisture of these, maybe it's just me. I will definitely be sticking with Rapid Rooters over Jiffy Pellets in the future.

Would wicks be tedious on a larger scale say 50-150 at a time?

Only to make them, after that it's just maintaining a water level. Plus the cups are reusable, so it would only be a one-time hassle. I just picked up a load of party cups to make a dozen or so more.

Ever use Oasis cubes? I'm 100% so far 20/20, and got healthy roots exploding out of the cube on all sides (including bottom) and new growth by 10 days.
